This is Part 5 of 5 of the Succubus Bargain, which is now bundled and includes a bonus chapter! Times are tough for Adeline Boo Pond, a succubus newly arrived to the human plane and unhappy with her allotted place in life. Created to feed on sex, Adie wants more from life, and she’s devised a plan to achieve her dreams while not harming humans. She can handle working long hours, and self-preservation has given her a love of baking, so why not combine those two skills and open a bakery? Humans love dessert, and Adie’s happy to provide a service that allows her to skip the more dangerous activities of feeding in place of a more peaceful option. Only problem? Three sexy demons are determined to stand in her way. They want Adie for themselves, and they have one hell of a bargain to offer her in exchange for helping her to reach her dreams. But will she accept it? Part 5 of 5 of the Succubus Bargain.
Pacific Northwest author L.L. Frost writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance with snarky characters and descriptive world-building. Whether she's writing a fast burn romance about witches, wolf shifters, and vampires, or teasing a slow burn romance while hunting demonic monsters, her passion is for character driven novels.
Growing up in a rainforest gave L.L. Frost plenty of time to daydream while spending cozy days under a blanket with her cats by her side. Sipping tea or chugging coffee, you can find her with a book or laptop in hand, imagining new worlds.
I truly hate cliff-hangers. If you hate them too, then avoid reading this serial because after reading five parts you will be ticked off to find that part five ends without resolution. There is more to come as it were in more, you guessed it, cliff-hanger serials. *sigh*
This author is a fabulous writer and her style appeals to me, I like her characters and world-building
But ...
Serials are a ploy to nickel and dime readers. Yep. I said it. If you're good, you don't need to employ this method. That's why this short-story/serial only got 2 1/2 stars when it deserves five. I basically got the first part one free and the remaining four parts for $3.96 which wasn't bad except-
No ending. No resolution. More serials to come.
Stop it L.L. Frost. This is not a newspaper or magazine or digest. I would support your work if you completed a full-fledged novel and wrote sequels. Not parts of a novel. Basically, this author is selling parts of an entire novel, and I can't forgive her for that.
So, if you don't mind serials, and paying .99 for each incomplete part, then this is a great long story and awesome writing. If you do mind, avoid this cliff-hanger money-pit, get an Amazon gift card for Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa to buy the rest or borrow it from a friend because you will end up out of more money for less story. And that is a big let-down from an author so talented.
As a book lover, I support and buy books, read books, and review books. But it sucks when authors forget why they write and it becomes about money. Maybe I'm being unfair but writing and selling incomplete works this way stinks.
Adie is a succubus who may have rushed a little when it came to getting a human body. Which has caused her not to be able to enter the dream world by herself, as other succubi can do. This has also made it hard to feed herself but she's only willing to skim and feed on demons as a last resort.
Adie has a plan but opening a bakery she will feed on the happy people with skimming she won't need to worry about feeding herself. The only thing standing in her way just happens to be three powerful demons who are determined to get more than just a deal out of her. In order to open her bakery, they want her to feed off them but at what cost? Will she survive a Bargain with the trio? Will she get her bakery?
I've had my eye on this series for a while but waited till a few more came out before diving right in. The reverse harem concept is growing in popularity and I'm becoming a quick fan. As the series is short novellas I figured it was better to combine them together plus that way I wouldn't be giving anything away. I love Adie she's a great character you can't help cheering her on as she overcomes everything that is thrown at her. At first, I wasn't sure about our demon trio but the more we get to know them the more I like them. I'm curious to see how this is all going to work out. I highly recommend this quick read series it's easy to get lost and read them all in just a few short hours. One of my new favorites and I can't wait for the next one to come out.
"The lease isn't cheap," he warns as his arms fold around me in a prickly, static filled hug. I pull back from him to put my hand son my hips. "I know what the location is worth. Don't think you'll hoodwink me." He points a long finger at me. "And don't think I'll cut you a deal just because I want to have electric, demon sex with you." "Sounds like we have some negotiating to do." I gesture to one of the tables. "Shall we?"
I quite enjoy the content in this series around the boutique bakery opening, its been a fun side plot to the obvious one. We finally get a little - whats the word I'm looking for - warmth? Early friendship? Between our cast of main characters too!
Emil comes into the kitchen, nose in the air. "What smells so good?" "A bribe." I snap off the burner, the blue flame vanishing.
At this point, I've decided to continue with this series in its condensed book format as 'The (un)lucky Succubus', rather then read the short stories individually. You can find my next reviews starting with Succubus Studies!
This part was mostly okey (I say mostly because it's still frustratingly short) and I had a nice time reading it. But also, this is part five of the serial and I still don't have the slightest idea as to what direction the story is heading. So, yeah, I'd like to know that. Other than that, so far so good.
I usually don’t read serials because I get annoyed with how short each installment is. However, I absolutely LOVE this one! I signed up for alerts on this one so I can get each book as soon as it comes out, lol.
These books are too short. I like them but it feels like each one barely gives you anything and then there are jumps in the timelines. Don’t get me wrong I like them, I just thing the books need to be a bit longer each.
Adie is learning some hard truths based on the last serial and now she's beginning to finally ask questions to gain some information. She was told in the last book "skimming won't sustain you" but she didn't want to accept it. After confronting her cousin...well, she only gets the confirmation she didn't want. But there are about to be some mischief going around as Adie finds herself without not just clothes, but desserts for her meeting. Time for some payback! There is some progress with this book which I like and we get to see Adie getting a touch of sense...but not much. She still has a ways to go especially if she wants to live on Earth and not expose herself and her fellow demons. I don't mind strong willed characters but sometimes I really wonder whether Adie is just refusing to connect the dots. I get why she doesn't want to expose her mentor because it will expose her. She doesn't want that because she wants to stay, but then it just highlights that she needs to listen to those who know more than she does. There really isn't much progression in the romance level, so if you're hoping for that...settle in and just keep waiting.
We have barely scratched the surface on what the guys really want from Adie. Then the fact that there is an obvious pentagram in her room...gets dismissed. Kellen or whichever guy dropping the hint that Tobias said she would be their catalyst...again gets dismissed.
The crone could be an ally, but that plot point isn't being built. The guys know more about her history, could assist in helping her learn, but she chooses to go it her own way.
Then the fact that she is refusing to sleep with any of the guys and yet we know eventually she'll be boning all 3.
I don't know whether I'll continue on with part 2. It started off strong and interesting enough but ended in such a meh anticlimactic way.
I really like the storyline. It's interesting and I want to see how their relationship progresses. I've seen the review complaining that they haven't had sex but I have to say it's one of the things that keeps me reading! I love that she's sticking to what and who she wants to be. So for all of you out there that think there is more to a story than just sex, give this series a try. The only drawback is each installment are super short and I don't feel that all of the installments have been progressive.
I'd give it a better rating if the story had more MEAT to it and I do mean meat! For F's Sake there's 3 demons in here begging for her to drain them!
This series is really pissing me off 4 barely chapters in each book and they havent even screwed yet! WTH kinda succubus and demon story is that? It's a good story but a total rip if you have to purchase it. This is something that belongs on a weekly or even a bi weekly blog.
The Author should take lessons from Tracy St. John!
This is, by far, the most frustrating serial. First, it is far too short. 20 minutes is a book sample, not a serial. It should be at least twice as long for each one to be remotely satisfying. Second, for each one bring so short, there are far too many errors. Lastly, the MC is far too stubborn in so many aspects. That being said, the storyline is incredibly interesting, and I will be continuing, begrudgingly.
Oh, Adie, the trouble you find yourself in! I'm all in for the ride! There are pranks abound in LL Frost's newest edition of the Succubus Harem serial. Adie, Kellen, Emil, and Tobias have more than a few tricks up there sleeves. What it all revolves around is Adie's determination to open her bakery. She has a strong dose of stubbornness and deep sense of revenge. This short was a rollicking fun read!
This was such a cute paranormal series. I'm glad it's continuing...maybe we'll get into the true RH aspect in the second series. But Addie and her roommates, Kellen, Emil and Kellen are definitely entertaining. Can't wait for the next installment in November.
I don't read a lot of serials but of the ones I have this is by far my favorite. The writing is very good, the characters interesting and the slow burn is so deliciously frustrating it has me chomping at the bit to get to more, but at the same time appreciating the time taken to establish the world, characters and plot. Highly recommend.
Can I give more stars? Please? Ugh! This series is driving me crazy, in a good way. I love it so much, it’s torturous waiting for the next installment when you read the one before in like 30 minutes. But I can’t help myself they’re that good. I can’t wait to find out what happens next, this storyline is so intriguing.
This is one of my favorite serials. I always want them to be longer. I love the dynamic between Adie and the 3 guys. I give it to Kellen for giving Adie props though. I also cannot believe that Tac betrayed her like that. The next installment can’t come soon enough. I am sooooo ready for some action.
Part five and Adies adventures continue, as well as trying to get her bakery a reality and dealing with the three demons she is also tying to learn more about herself
Well written and exciting I am loving this serial and highly recommend
This book rolls into the next set in the series called Succubus Studies. The first five books in the series focus on meeting the demons and learning to live with them. I’m looking forward to what this part of the series will focus on. Still an intriguing storyline.
I didn't realize I read all 5 parts in a combined book, review can be read on the first book.
Disappointed that after searching for a while for just the right book, I find these, read them and the discover that it's less than 200 pages in total. With a cliffhanger too.
