This story is an excellent book for a lesson such as PSHE or R.E across the primary keystages. it looks at friendships and working together. it also has a focus on forgiveness which can be talked about within an R.E lesson. This story can also be a good way of allowing children to engage in discussions.
Loved this book Amazing illustrations, I read it today to a class of 3 to 5 year olds. It is a great book that works well with simple props. I used construction paper cut out drawings of the egg, hat, bucket, and wheel barrow, to help the smaller ones focus. I think this story has many concepts to explore. I am looking forward to reading it again and would recommend it as a teaching tool for exploring emotions and also nature themes.
This book captures perfectly the many moods of young children beginning with lovely cooperation and ingenuity to do something on their own moving through courtesy and sharing into accident, contention, separation, and quick forgiveness as something new presents itself. And all that told in the simplicity of a child's vocabulary. I think that Ms. Lewis is really brilliant here.
Alice came to play with Sam on the farm. When they were attempting to take a chicken egg to the house an accident got them into a squabble. Finding another egg helped them sort it out and work together. Gorgeous illustrations.
