Chateau Rouge is a reputedly haunted hotel. It hides secrets and stories within its walls, tales that lure guests from all over the world.
Yet there’s one story that has never been told. The story of a New Orleans bordello Madam who had to endure the pain of watching her true love die…twice.
Josey has been the owner of Chateau Rouge for the last two hundred years. She’s content with her routine existence, and has been for a long time…until Archer Grayson walks into her hotel.
He ignites a hunger in her which she hasn’t felt for over one hundred years, and this can only mean one thing…her love has returned to her.
But with his return comes the curse of their fate, and Josey refuses to survive a broken heart for a third time. Unless…what if this time is different? What if there’s a chance for them to change their destiny?
Could it be that their love finally has a different fate written in the cards?
Jolie St. Amant fell in love with all things New Orleans after reading Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. Now, a frequent visitor to the Crescent City, she can often be found getting inspiration from ghost tours, or sipping cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde. (Also writes as A.L. Vincent https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... )
Dream A Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amand is a paranormal book with vampires and ghosts. The story takes place in New Orleans. The lead character is Josie and she has been the owner of the Chateau Rouge for two hundred years. She has watched the love of her life die twice and is content with her existence. Then Archer Grayson walks in and shakes up her whole world. There is an instant attraction. This book was a quick read and I really liked it. The writing was good and I enjoyed the story. I am anxious to find out what happens next so many things can possibly happen. My favorite scene was the pool scene. There is romance but it’s not over the top it’s perfect. I look forward to others in the series! 4 stars!
I really enjoyed how the history and mystic timelessness of New Orleans is woven through this story. I'm super intrigued by Josey, Lucy, & Ivy's past and hope there's more of that in the other stories in this series. There were some parts of Josey and Archer's relationship that kind of bugged me, and I couldn't tell if it was a romantic trope or because this is a novella and thus things happen faster due to space restraints.
Entertaining read that has me wanting to book a trip to the Chateau Rouge
I have always been a fan of vampire books and reincarnation books. This one combines the two! I loved this book from start to finish. Archer and Josie's story has been going on for centuries. Each time the meet it always ends in tragedy. This last time is a little different. Archer doesn't remember her at all. As the book progresses their story just builds so much. The characters are awesome. Ms Amant's description of New Orleans is spot on, I almost felt like I was there. I wish the book was longer so that I could have enjoyed it longer.
A haunted hotel in New Orleans, a 200 year old vampire and a rock star… throw in a star crossed love story - she’s watched her (human) true love die twice - will their third meeting be different?
Throw in a New Orleans backdrop, great supporting characters and a music festival… this novella will leave you wanting more from this world.
a brilliant novel about loand second chances that defy fate. Joesy Jacobsen lives her life the same way she has done for last two centuries, as a vampire managing the mysterious and ghostly Chateau Rouge. Until one day, a man named Archer Butler arrives her hotel. he catches her eye as a handsome man, but also because they have met before. In fact, he is her lover from the past, who is living another life af1920s. Conflicted, Josey is unsure to dabble in his life again, knowing the danger of him dying again. However, they meet in the bar of the hotel and even kiss in her room. she pushed them away with the help of her vampire confidante Alcide. However, Archer is not to be dismayed. with the help of spirit named Lucy, he meets her in a garden pool and they continue their romance. He carries on with his life and performs a show for his band before heading to a tarot card. There, he regainshis memories of Josey and his previous lives. He returns to her and they kiss before sunrise, living in the moment for once. An excellent read. well written plot. Well developed characters particularly in the strong woman of Josey. I adored the mixture of fantastical vampires and the modern day technology of the music band. the gothic feel of a castle of blood was delightfulI also adored the recurring theme of the past and the feeling of deja vu. The use of dreams as flashbacks to reveal the past was written beautifully. The figures of the fantastical such as the vampires and ghosts of Lucy were written perfectly and added an air of mystery and suspense to the novel. the use of fate and the tarot cards made pity of Josey in the inescaple nature of her situation with Archer.I also loved the use of the songs and music (obviously through Lucy) with ella fitzgerald dream song and the title and the dreams of Archer and Josey. I also liked the nostalgic feel of the past with the history of the place and the flapper costume Josey wears. I lso liked the fact at hat at the end, they are no longer thinking of past but are enjoyed tehir relationship in the present. The intricacy of detail in the hotel and chandeliers and the garden flowers with its ornate gate was stunning. Overall, an excellent fantasy romance novel and I would give it five stars.
Dream a Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amant is an interesting little read. It’s somewhat predictable, but not completely. It’s nicely written and the pace is fairly quick. It’s interesting and I would like to learn more about these characters as well as the Chateau Rouge.
Josie is relatable and I really want to know more about her. She seems damaged, but not broken. It sounds to me like she just wants to be loved.
The story itself is solid for the most part. My main complaint is that I really don’t like where it ends. It felt extremely abrupt after everything else I had just read. Almost as if the author just forgot to add the last chapter.
Overall, I think this is a good story. I think anyone who is looking for a somewhat sweet paranormal romance with vampires will like this story. It’s a fairly short read, and I’m hoping the next book comes out soon.
I just tore through this book in an evening and I was honestly blown away. While new to her world, I easily dove in and found a rich tapestry of characters and scenes to feed my imagination. Vampires, ghosts, old souls, and other elements all combine beautifully! The characters are well written, relatable, and compelling.
This book is clearly part of a larger collection of books and yet stands on its own. Highly recommended!
cant wait for the more in this series Jolie st armant is a phenomenal Paranormal Romance writer and her Chateau Rouge series is one of my new favorite series.
Dream a Little Dream of Me (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant is a story that I read in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I was totally wrapped up in this book until the very last page. This is the first book I have read of this author's and I loved it. I can't wait to go back for more. I loved her writing style that pulled me in from the first word. Her creativeness for details kept the story flowing until the last page. Her characters were connectable, lovable and a little different as some where ghosts but I loved them just the same. This is story is about a hotel called Chateau Rouge and how some say that it is haunted. There are secrets and stories that the walls have heard that no one else has. The tale of a Madam who lost her true love twice to death and now it seems like he may be back for a third time. Josie has lived in the hotel for over two hundred years. She has a nice settled life and routine until he walks through the doors. She knows from first sight that it is him. What will fate have in mind for them? Will they be given one more chance at love? Will Josie take the chance on getting hurt a third time? I love these two characters! They have such chemistry and attraction. They are both strong and know what they want. I feel compassion for Josie as her true love has come back but she is confused on what she should do. The flashbacks really make the story more real and you will love them. I don't normally like flashbacks in a story because they can be confusing but these just flow into the story like they just fit. The secondary characters are just as great. They are supportive and loving! Some of them are even a little humorous. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens behind these walls of Chateau Rouge! You don't want to miss this one!
Dream a Little Dream of Me (Chateau Rouge Book 1) By: Jolie St. Amant 5 out of 5 stars
The story Dream a Little Dream of Me (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant is an amazing book that I loved reading. It is a story that takes place at the Chateau Rouge hotel in New Orleans. Not everything is as it seems at this hotel or about the employees that run it. This is a story that hooked me in from the first chapter and had me mesmerized until I had read the last page. I love books regarding the paranormal and stories like this one are the reason why. This story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It is a story of lost loves and had my emotions going up and down. I loved reading about the characters of Josey and Archer. Josey has run the Chateau Rouge for a long time and has a set routine. Tragedy has touched her life in the past. It is sad to read about the pain that Josey has gone through and I found myself hoping for her to find a happy ending. Archer is drawn to Josey and feels a sense of familiarity during his stay. Will he discover the reason why he is having these feelings? What does the future hold for both Josey and Archer? There are other secondary characters in this story that I enjoyed reading about and it would be wonderful to read more about them and their stories. This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one. This is also the first book that I have read by the author. She writes in a such a way that the story stayed on my mind even after I had finished. I highly recommend this book to lovers of the paranormal and for anyone who believes in love that never dies.
Dream a Little Dream of Me is the first book in the Chateau Rouge Series and debut novel by Jolie St. Amant. It is an incredibly clever, unique and engaging paranormal romance that captivated me from the very first page. Ms. St. Amant’s vivid imagery and descriptive details painted a picture of New Orleans that brought all the sights and sounds of this colourful city to life right before my eyes. The story had a mysteriousness about it, it captured my attention and enticed me further into the book. I couldn’t put it down till I had finished every word. Josey Jacobson owns Chateau Rouge, a hotel steeped in history on a busy street in New Orleans. The story is set in the lead up to Halloween which ads an extra air of excitement to the story. Josie and the Chateau are not what they appear. There is so much more to Josie and her lovely old hotel and as the story unfolds there are quite a few surprises to be found. Archer is in the city for a music festival and is a guest at the Chateau. He is the sexy and charismatic lead singer of a well-known band, who finds himself drawn to the Chateau and its beautiful owner, Josie. There is also more to his attraction than first comes to light and discovering all the details was such a fantastic ride. The story is a short, quick and easy read. It is told from several POV’S, which allows the reader to get a much bigger picture of what’s happening, as well as extra elements to the intriguing backstory. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series and I look forward to getting my hands on “Hard Hearted Hannah: The Vamp from Savannah”, book two in this series.
I don’t quite know where to start with this review but I’ll give it a shot. Wow! What a good story! I was truly blown away by Dream a Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amant. I loved everything about this book, from the location of New Orleans, the characters Josey and Archer not to mention the secondary characters, to the backstory on these characters. It’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal story, they used to be what I read the most until I switched to contemporary romance, Ms. St. Amant may have changed that. This is a paranormal story that has a little bit of everything, vampires, ghosts, and reincarnation to mention a few. The setting is perfect, the author couldn’t have picked a better place than New Orleans as a backdrop and then to throw in Halloween…perfection. The story revolves around Josey, a hotel owner and her hotel guest, Archer. Many things at Hotel Chateau Rouge are not as they seem, especially Josey and Archer. It turns out that they have met, several times, over the past two hundred years. Will this time be any different? I really, really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see what happens to these characters as this series continues on. In closing, I just have one other thing to say and that’s Ms. St. Amant needs to put her nose to the grindstone and write quickly.
I'm a sucker for a good paranormal romance and Dream a Little Dream of Me fits into almost everything I want for that type of story. The main characters, Archer and Josey, had depth and history . I had enough information to be genuinely interested in the story but there was enough kept from the reader to still give it an air of mystery. Setting the whole thing in New Orleans adds so much more because of the rich history of the paranormal and the thriving culture of Voodoo that is still there. Vampires are pretty over done in fiction right now but Jolie St. Amant managed to be subtle enough about her vampire characters that it wasn't the focal point of the story and didn't drag out all of the tropes associated with it. My only complaints with this book is that I felt the ending was a little abrupt and left me wanting much more. But that could be purposeful as there is another Chateau Rouge novella. I also wished there was a little more written about New Orleans and the French Quarter where the story is based but that may have detracted from the overall plot line as there is so much you can say about that setting and I can see how it would be easy to get carried away. I really hope to see more from this author about these characters and the past between them that is only really hinted at when necessary.
What a great short story!!! Dream a Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amant is about Josephine “Josey” Jacobson who is a vampire running a “historic” hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Over her years she has fallen in love a couple of times…to the same man. Archer Grayson has lived a couple of different lives. All of which, have fallen in love with Josey and then he dies. A cycle that keeps reliving itself and one that Josey can’t continue to keep going through. Throughout the story Archer doesn’t understand the pull he has toward Josey but at the same time he continues to have dreams of her but from different times. Josey doesn’t want to go through the heartache of losing him again so she tries and tries to stay away, but the pull toward him is intense. In the end…this is a HEA. There are a couple of hot and steamy scenes between the two but no actual sex. The story only eludes to them having sex. The entire story is a seduction and it’s sultry and it sucks you in. The other characters are awesome and you can’t help but want to know their back stories. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it to others who like this genre! I don’t normally read this genre but I was truly impressed and actually want to reread it! That doesn’t happen often! Super sexy story!
Dream a Little Dream of Me By Jolie St. Amant 5 stars
What a story! I don’t think I took my eyes from the pages at all. For such a short story it is definitely full of action. The connection between the two main characters Josey and Archer was brilliant and intense. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on between them but as the story progressed it became clear. I actually thought the storyline was really unique and I think that’s why I loved it so much. I had no idea what was going to happen. I think I could happily have read a longer version of this book – I was completely hooked into Josey and Archer’s story. There were also some good secondary characters too. I though the author’s descriptions were really good and I could definitely imagine everything that I was reading. I was definitely rooting for Josey and Archer to finally be together! I really enjoyed the authors writing style, it had everything I wanted from a paranormal romance/suspense story. The pace was great, it didn’t feel rushed and I thought the flow was good too. I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future and see how the series will progress. I highly recommend this story for vampire/paranormal romance genre lovers – you will not be disappointed.
Dream a Little Dream of Me Jolie St. Amant 4 out of 5 Dream a Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amant is the first book in her Chateau Rouge series which is a paranormal romance novel. This was a quick but fascinating read with all the details the author provided in such a short book. The way she describes New Orleans makes you feel like you are in the book. This book takes place in the Chateau Rouge hotel in New Orleans and it holds a ton of history. Josey owns this hotel and has owned it for centuries; she has watched it change with the time. But as living a life as a vampire she has also suffered watching the love of her life die twice. Archer feels a weird sense of Déjà vu when he comes into the Chateau Rouge and meets Josey one night. He isn’t sure what to do after he starts having dreams and just plays it off as New Orleans getting to him during the Halloween season. Josey isn’t sure what to do about Archer as they both feel the pull to each other. Will Archer figure out why he feels this way towards Josey? Can Josey finally get a happy ending or will her world turn upside down a third time? Highly recommend you read to find out!
Dream a Little Dream of Me (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant
5 Stars
What a great story, I loved the references to New Orleans making me feel like I was right there watching the book play out. I love how the author was able to bring the past into the present so that I was able to understand the connection between all these characters. There was quite a bit of content even with it being such a short story, and it was written very well, and the characters were well developed. I loved Lucy and how she was always there for Josie, and watching Archer try to put the pieces together from the past as his dreams seemed to keep guiding him to Josie. Problem is, will the third time be a charm or just the opposite and Josie loses it all for good this time?
I really enjoyed the writing style and the smooth flow, and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I hope these characters return, especially Alcide. With this book ending the way it did I'm hoping that Alcide will finally be free to hopefully find his own story.
I adored the premise of this book. I started it yesterday and finished it today. It’s a very short read that being said it could’ve been longer and I really wish it had been. I was hooked from the off and the story is amazing. It’s such a good concept and I really enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for a vampire book but this one had a twist rock stars vampires and a haunted Hotel. What more could a girl asked for in a book, however it did all feel very rushed at the end. The pace of the book was great up until the last two chapters where it felt like the conclusion was shoved in and rushed. I felt like it could’ve been longer and should’ve been longer really because it could’ve been a great finale. It left me a little unsatisfied. It actually has put me off reading the other books in this series because it feels like the concept of the books are amazing but if they all finish at a rushed pace because of the length of them, I feel like I would get frustrated. overall, a really good read nice and quick just wish the end had a little bit more substance.
Dream a Little Dream of Me Chateau Rouge Book 1 By Jolie St. A man ☆☆☆☆☆ A Novella about Ghost, Vampires and Romance.
Josie is the owner of Chateau Rouge, a well known haunted house in New Orleans. The house has had many face lifts, from a bordello to a Hotel, over the years. It dates back to the early 1900’s. She has watched her one true love die many times. This time she vows to stay away from him.
Archer Grayson is back in New Orleans to head up his concert. A very talented singer songwriter, looking for new talent. He is staying at the Chateau Rouge for the first time. That he remembers anyway. Then there is the beautiful Josie, will he fight the temptation and stay away?
Jolie St. Amant wrote a fun mystery of ghosts, vampires and forbidden romance. This story was intriguing and fun to read. Muny mysteries and a little history as well. Well written and kept my interest. A real page turner. I am looking forward to the next book.
Dream a little dream of me is the first book by Jolie St. Amant and all I can say is WOW! I was blown away by this book, to the point that I had to fore myself to put it down to interact with my family and coworkers. The story of Josey and Archer was amazing to get to read, seeing the relationship unfold and how the past and present meld together showing how these two were meant to be together throughout the ages. The mixture of paranormal and romance was done incredibly well with this book, and while I am not someone who normally reads paranormal this one really made me like the genre all over again. I can’t wait to see where St. Amant takes this series, and if she will have additional books in the future in the paranormal genre.
This is a definite read for anyone looking for something engaging to read that has a great paranormal read, and enough romance to keep it interesting.
This short story is a definate hit. I thouroughly enjoyed this book! The plot is a very unique twist on fated love that reoccures. Two souls meant to be together but being torn apart just to find one another again! This is a definate must read for not only vampire lovers but fated destiny as well.
The pull of Josey and Archer is a fresh twist on this format and the conflict is heat pulling. The whole pull of these two is elequently written in this first person pov format via the character in focus. The cool setting of New Orleans just adds to the whole atmosphere of the book and the story. I couldnt stop reading and was eager to turn the page to find out what would happen next. Jolie St Amant has a real winner in this first book of the series. I cannot wait to see what future books hold!
This was not a bad book, i just felt it was an incomplete book.... it was so short at barely over 100 pages so nothing had time to be fully developed. This made it hard to really connect fully with the character and since this is a romance move, all be it a paranormal one it was still a romance, so connecting to the main characters is important. Also from reading other reviews I saw how great the description of New Orleans was.... ummm in what way? It was barely described so not sure how exactly it was perfectly described.... also the sex scenes , like the rest of the book was just lacking, I just want more. More of everything but especially description and back story, to be able to connect more with it. Due to me wanting more tells me that this was definitely not a bad book. It was entertaining and a super fast read, read it in a little over an hour.
OOOOO . . . a Haunted Hotel. In New orleans. At Halloween!! What could be better? This short novella, Dream a Little Dream of Me, by Jolie St. Amant, reached out and grabbed me, sucked me in, and ignited my curiosity. Ms. St. Amant is truly a gifted writer to be able to create such a wonderful world, populated by such intriguing characters. This is a beautiful little gem of a book. As full of life and character as New Orleans itself. I loved the flavor of this book. Unrequited love returns. Josie and Archer are perfect. The haunting descriptions ofNewOrleans, bothpast andpresent areamazinglyreal.Iabsolutely loved this novella and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
I love how right as you start this book and gives you very descriptive details of the hotel and the people in it. The fact that we are giving hints as to Josey being a vampire but not told outright is fantastic. I do like that even though the main characters aren't together in some chapters the author writes both characters in the chapter. What I mean is we know what each character is doing even though they aren't together. I feel so bad that Alcide and Josey are late because I thought Alcide wanted her in the relationship way. The story ended was giving me the chills! I love that it doesn't tell you what happens but you just know!
This was set in the perfect backdrop of New Orleans, in a quaint hotel, Chateau Rouge. I loved our main character, Josie who runs the hotel. There is a lot about the hotel that is ‘off’ at first but slowly begins to unfold as you read the story and it ties into the past tragedies that have taken place in the hotel as well. Much like the new chance at a possible love story with a new guest named Archer that has his heart set on Josie. Will she be willing to let her past heartaches go and give him a chance? All this plus the heart pumping fun of the paranormal twists make for a wonderful read, and this is book one so I am really hoping for another one to come in this series!
Very atmospheric story. The author has obviously researched the places where the story takes place, mysterious and colorful New Orleans. If you like vampires and other creatures of the night this novella is for you. The characters were well developed especially considering it was such a short story and I loved the variety of supernatural creatures that roamed the hotel. I want to know more about Lucy, the ghost for sure. Ms. St. Amant managed to surprise me at the end and my only complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed to me. I wanted something more solid and complex to sink my teeth into. Pun totally intended.
Dream A Little Dream of Me by Jolie St. Amant, is the first book I’ve read by her and I loved it. Well, it’s the first paranormal book I’ve read in a good while and I really enjoyed it, I’m definitely considering picking this genre up again. The way the characters were woven into the story line was great. They all had a great chemistry and made the story enjoyable. I cannot wait for what’s to come.
Dream a Little Dream of Me was an absolutely wonderful paranormal romance. Quick and easy to read, it had a little bit of everything in it. Vampires, reincarnation, ghosts, and so much more. I loved the descriptions and settings in New Orleans. I felt like that was perfect backdrop and added extra mysticism to the story in Chateau Rouge. I felt like I could really connect with Josey’s character as well. It was a great Halloween read.
