Messages from the Divine: Wisdom for the Seeker's Soul

Rate this book
From the award-winning author of Writing the Divine comes a spiritual guidebook of attainable lessons and exercises to teach you how to engage in direct connection with the Universe and live a soulful life.

How can I live authentically? What is my life’s purpose? How can I tap into my soul’s wisdom? How can I receive Divine guidance?

To learn the answers to these questions, gifted intuitive, visionary teacher, and author Sara Wiseman gives you Messages from the Divine . Timeless and affirming, the lessons in this book will teach you the secrets of how to live from your soul’s wisdom and awaken to your true life’s path. And by living a soul-led life, you move from confusion, fear, and feeling unfulfilled to a life that is open, original, and profoundly meaningful.

After a harrowing near death experience that resulted in a sudden opening of consciousness, Sara’s spiritual understanding expanded, and she began to see “beyond the veil” and receive messages from spirit guides. It is from this process of Divine receiving that the lessons in this book were transmitted and transcribed.

Each of the lessons ends with a brief exercise—an easy-to-do practice, mediation, or reflection to help anchor the teaching—along with a short collection of anecdotes from the author’s life. Lyrical in style and meditative in experience, Messages from the Divine will inspire, empower, and awaken your soul and Sara’s writing “helps us slow down, feel into the moment, and find our Big Self everywhere” (Penney Peirce, author of The Intuitive Way ).

In Episode 17 we review Messages from the Divine by Sara Wiseman.

A digital copy of Messages from the Divine was provided to 3PAAC free of charge for an honest review.

Sara Wiseman recovered from a near-death experience with a new perception of the world and the Divine. She has written several books with what she describes as "recieved... messages from a loving Universe", including Messages from the Divine. The book consists of 66 "lessons", spread across ~270 pages, interspersed occasionally with interludes from Sara's life.

The individual lessons are short, snappy segments-- rarely more than two pages-- followed by a short list of questions for the reader to consider. The lessons themselves are more musings, abstract and frequently repetitive brainstorming about a vague topic cited in the title of the lesson. Although we did not particularly enjoy the tone or content of the lessons, they were not particularly heavy reading, and one could easily consume the content over one's morning coffee without straining one's mind or requiring much attention.

The premise of the book-- and, indeed, philosophy-- is that we are all emanations of a single divine source, which have incarnated and chosen our lives and the "lessons" we will learn. The lessons in Messages from the Divine appear to be intended to encourage incarnated souls to "wake up", as it were, and painlessly embrace these lessons. It did not resonate with any of us at 3PAAC.

In the opening, Sara suggests that readers can approach each lesson individually at will, or read the entire text from start to finish-- during the review process, we read the entire book. As a consequence, we noted a number of feedback loops and contradictions in the text which may be less vexing to those reading more sporadically.

We also encountered implications in this book, which we have encountered in other sources referring to this philosophy, that the victims of abuse and trauma are-- in an abstract way-- responsible for their trauma, because their soul "chose" to experience these things. We strongly disagree, and disapprove of this kind of victim-blaming content, however vaguely it is presented.

TL;DR: Don't read this book. It is winding, dull, internally contradictory, and contains mostly circular logic and frustrating content. If the premise appeals to you, there are better books to read.

The Ultimate Guide to Awakening

I don’t often read a 300-page book in one sitting. That’s how good this book is. ONE SITTING. I could not put it down. I would give 10 stars, no joke. I read a lot of books. I’ve read a lot of channeled books – messages from angels, spirit guides, souls of the departed – typically they’re either complicated or difficult to understand or they’re not necessarily written in modern English. This one is. It is so easy to understand, and the practices are very simple . . . it all makes sense. I LOVED reading it and now I’m keeping it on my desk as a sort of daily read. I open it each morning trusting I will be guided to what I need for the day. It keeps me in a state of awareness as I go about my day, I am open to receive, and both inspire growth and increase abundance. I find I resonate with the words, the topics, the entire essence of this book. For me, it is indeed the ultimate guide to a soul-led life. Buy. Read. Do. Great gift for YOU, great gift to give to others. Highly recommend!

If I had known Sara Wiseman, the author of 'Messages from the Divine' is psychic, I would not have bought the book. If I had read the introduction before scanning the book, I would not have brought this book home. I was so upset while reading the introduction which does not make sense to me.

Whatever Sara said is mostly good, but she doesn't show how to reach the state she is in or she asserts she is in. I have read too many traditional and authoritative spiritual books to call this type of book divine.

Some reviewers gave her only one star. I understand their views very well. The messages are repetitive and lack originality. The reason I changed from two stars to the three is there will be no harm in her messages. But we cannot reach a high spiritual state simply because someone said so. Sara does not show how to do so.

The parts I like are her small episodes introduced as interludes.

I took my time going through this book because I felt it needed to be read on a couple different levels and also worked through some of the exercises she leaves you with in the book. I loved it.
Sara talks about the universe which is a universal phrase today covering all the higher being labels we like to slap on our beliefs. I use the word also, along with several other. Situation dependent.
She writes with clear concise steps and each chapter has a purpose in daily living. I like the way she addresses all things and again she writes with great clarity.
Whether you are a spiritual seeker or already ingrained in some form of spirituality, or just need a great book to get your to think outside the box, this book is a great. I would recommend this for anyone.

I'm not a follower of conventional religion, so this daily devotional that isn't "Christian" had me very hopeful.
...yeah. no. I don't DNF books that I won through Goodreads Giveaways (like this), but I wanted to. I almost did. But I felt like I needed to be fair.
This is not a beginners guide, and I think that's my personal problem and no fault of the author. I don't ascribe to this particular philosophy, so I found a lot of the suggestions contained ludicrous. Not her fault. Not my FAULT. Just a difference. I did find a few things I liked, but overall for me it was repetitive (again I think the nature of the beast and not the author).

In short, great for deepening your beliefs if you already believe. Not good for starters or people who believe differently.

Messages from the Divine by Sara Wiseman is a beautiful book about lessons from the divine. These lessons are given shortly and end with things to contemplate to bring them into our lives. I enjoyed this book and think it would be good for any spiritual seeker.

The stories are fun to read, a lot of good thoughts on how our souls live through us. The set up / lessons are not my style .
