But with a name like Mrs. Dracula, what did you expect?
Eighteen bestselling and award-winning authors spill secrets about this lady of the night just in time for Halloween. Tales of titillating evil, supernatural events, thrilling mystery, and historical horrors, or rather, proof of the vampire's existence.
Logan Keys says she’s not so much a writer as she is a soothsayer and preparer for those who are still blissfully unaware. Her stories aren’t dystopian but rather a warning for the next generation. When she’s not writing zombies, vampires, superheroes, and robots, she’s fighting against government over-reach and oligarchy using military tactics mixed with a little bit of poetry.
Logan’s currently on her little farm in Kentucky typing away on many projects at once.

Indeed, it's a short story collection by a bunch of cool folks focusing on the brides of Mr. Bad Boy without ever dealing with Vlad much at all. Rather, we get a lot of historical pieces from the women who barely had a role at all in the original Dracula. Indeed, this one can read quite nicely as absolutely dominated with females if not a decidedly feminist bent.
My favorites are with Mina as carried on in the future, but in point of fact, we've got a very wide cast hitting so many great history points, from WWI, II, Flappers in the '20's, a Wild-West train heist, to a number globe-trotting moderns making their way the best they can.
Some of these short stories are plainly fun slasher-types, but more than a few are full of complicated plots, great settings, emotional depth, and great action. Most aren't a gimmick. Most of these are quite entertaining even to the savvy horror reader. :)
I had a great time! It's a perfect mood-builder. :)
Each story in this collection is a tale of Mrs Dracula but none are the same from Roman era Mrs Dracula to a creepy church story to what I believe was alien Mrs Dracula this collection has something for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and found myself devouring stories from times I dont normally read about. I think this is perfect for anyone who loves a creepy vampire story.
One thing I noticed as somewhat of a theme through many of these shorts was Mrs. Dracula in her various forms teetered on the edge of having a soul or a slight moral compass at time. I read a lot of compassion which is not always the case with these types of stories.
A CONCERTO FOR THE DEAD AND DYING by Jeannie Wycherley: This is a new to me author and one I want to read more of in the future. This author has an incredible grasp of detail that plays well into the reader's imagination. Elizabetta was one of my favorite characters in this anthology and that she placed her in a war time setting was entirely unique. The demise of poor Francis was truly sad, and how Elizabetta loved him and lost him is heartbreaking.
TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE by Tracy D. Vincent: This is a change from what I usually read from this author and it was just as enjoyable as the rest of her work, my only complaint (with all of these stories is they are NOT long enough, yes I know they are short stories.) I love her take on Ms. Dracula, and throwing a bit of Van Helsing in for flavor (literally) was a smart move!! The story flowed and the characters were edgy and gritty. This was an enjoyable read and one I highly recommend. I loved that she stuck with what I refer to as the true Dracul characters and her story centers around Mina.
WILLA'S WAY by Aria Michaels: This short is more post apocalyptic with a side of vamp and is also a unique look into this world. As most of the world is run by Oden the Ourovoros and subsequently making the majority of mankind poisonous to Willa and her kind. Reading about Willa and Brody, their former lives and what they were going through kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought all was lost I turned the page....
BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS by Caroline A. Gill: Another smash hit from this author, she has such a way weaving words together to create this amazing unique Mrs. Draculaish tale. This is not your standard vamp story and if that is what you are looking for this this anthology is for you. Mixing together vamp lore, and magic made for an interesting tale of one Vamp driven to rescue her prodigy Peggy and what she and her horde go through to find her and save her.
CHRONICLES OF STEELE: THE VAMPIRE by Pauline Creeden: This is another new to me author and I loved Mrs. Dracula meets The Wild West! From the dialect used to the storyline, this was an altogether enjoyable read. Raven is one badass huntress! Ms. Creeden has an amazing way of creating imagery in my head with her words. -[
HELL HATH NO FURY by Logan Keys: Ms. Keys is another amazing author that I love to read! This story also as a unique flare as all the other shorts did! Mrs. Dracula and her gladiators, you cannot go wrong with a bunch of sweaty muscle bound warriors whose only focus is honor and glory through dealing death or dying themselves. The struggles Irena goes through as she deals with being bound to her husband, issues with Rome and its citizens, cheaters in the tournament just draws you into the story as you lose yourself into Centuries old Rome, gladiators and the coliseum
I enjoyed that each story's main character was based on a female vampire married to Dracula. However, each story was unique, telling its own version of her.
I have a couple of favorite stories from this collection. One is A Concerto for the Dead and Dying by Jeannie Wycherley. The wartime setting—and how Elizabetta took advantage of it—especially interesting. I found her relationship with Francis endearing, but that only made the ending even more heartbreaking.
Another favorite in this collection is Chronicles of Steele: The Vampire by Pauline Creeden. Having read the previous stories in the Chronicles of Steele collection, I was happy to see Raven, Jack, and Darius again. During their travels disguised as a farming family to evade the duke's uncle, they cross paths with Mrs. Dracula. Surely, helping the people of the little town of Sedgwick counts toward the lives she needs to redeem for those taken as a reaper.
With compelling characters, I recommend this collection to anyone who is a fan of vampires.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The Mrs Dracula anthology was amazing. Kudos to each author who participated in this anthology. They brought their A game and made each story unique and amazing. No story was alike or repetitive which is amazing. I honestly loved each story. I could not find anything wrong with any story. There weren’t any plot holes, there was just pure awesomeness.
Some of the authors were new to me, and they now have a fan for life. From the opening paragraph of the first story to the last sentence of the last story, I was hooked. I was drawn in. The characters were compelling, and in most cases I found myself rooting for them to destroy anything and everything. Each internal and external conflict was well defined for each story. I honestly enjoyed each story that was written and presented in the anthology.
I will definitely recommend this anthology to everyone who loves to read horror stories. I give it 5/5 Platypires.
It is as if the writers were given "Mrs. Dracula" as a writing prompt. From the many points of view exhibited by this anthology, I'd say the assignment was a success. Old and new vampire lore was produced in short story from with visits from Dracula or a character representing the oldest original vampire Count or Vlad. Some of the stories exist as complete units while others beg for continuation. I can only hope for a Mrs. Dracula part 2 anthology.
Love me some vampires!! To me really jumping out was Pauline Creeden's story. Mrs Dracula, the counts wife who fled soon after the wedding away from him. He is looking for her ever since, she seems to stay ahead of him. She is a woman with an anger issue, you will travel with her through her many years. When Dracula takes something very dear to her, he set something off in her which he might didn't wish for. Great series of books just before Halloween. I enjoyed it very much.
Kindle Unlimited, have quit buying anthologies unless know all the writers {and like how they write} or one is in collection and that one won't be out by itself for months...the main reason being is that most {not all} are out on ku but also the old saying about those who can, write...doesn't mean they write WELL. Reviewing in order the stories are in book, not by the order of names on anthology list above. PROOF YOUR 'WRITING"!! -- THIS anthology MESS 30 TOPS AVERAGE, comes out to not even 1 average for 18 stories, worst story ever Dill, Mallory and Walsh 4 to 5 thumbs up thanks you 2
Cursed for eternity. She's worn out every welcome.Bitten every hand that feeds. But with a name like Mrs. Dracula, what did you expect?Eighteen bestselling and award-winning authors spill secrets about this lady of the night just in time for Halloween. Tales of titillating evil, supernatural events, thrilling mystery, and historical horrors, or rather, proof of the vampire's existence. -- that is what the blurb says, but there are some that don't even mention her or him, and others that might as well not or only in passing.
Jeannie Wycherley uh huh? what 1
Tracy D. Vincent don't understand the **** all over the place, what is that even supposed to actually mean, uh what 1
Emma Brady, lips are red because thinner skin allows for more visible blood vessels, really red lips not from cold unless chapping but still would be white or blue or sign of Raynaud's, quit switching POV, again uh what 1
Kasondra Morin how does one chew on the side of their own mouth, overall boring but at least not as stupid as some of the others maybe 2
Andra Dill ethereal looks***large, chocolate brown eyes, delicate nose and cupid bow mouth***as being the source of the epithets. double uh WHAT and what is with all the repeated *** what are those even indicating beyond word count filler because definitely NOT anything to do with the 'story' or rather lack of actual one, by far the worst 'story' of the bunch, supposed to be mrs dracula story yeah where, -1 or -2 even that ridiculous,
Sherry Foster again with the freaking *** and btw one does not 'backup' a recording unless saving it after having saved it already so totally wrong terminology and makes nonsense plus confusing, she's got excellent eyesight because vampire yet the other vampires can't see her because WHY, the rest made no better sense, rambling mess, 1
L.D. Goffigan uhm some of them were already vampires so how would even draining their blood have done anything to them, 1
Nadia Blake 'beasts lo in the darkness" huh, not really anything to do with Mrs Dracula, harry potter wannabe, sort of interesting, maybe a 2
Ava Mallory still not idea what the *** is about, interesting story but confusing, maybe because short, 3 1/2-4 so not bad
Eli Constant foreign words and/or made up, I read several languages, "the country we are stood in" huh?, too convoluted/confusing, 2 maybe 3
Aria Michaels how would life essence be transferred, felt as if 2 different, disconnected, stories going on, 1
Angela Roquet again story makes little sense 1
Caroline A Gill no idea what this one was or wasn't about and then just stopped poof after jumbled paragraphs of that, 1 maybe just maybe on good day 2
Pauline Creeden badly needed continuity checks, crossbow on back, crossbow in hands, knocked out of hands, grabbed again, then all the sudden she reaches for it on her back....jumbled mess 1
Diana Layne why would anyone have to sterilize a knife to cut a bullet out of a vampire what they might get an infection NOT, maybe a 2 or so decent enough, overall
Lee Hayton overall boring, too much side gibberish and not enough about the actual supposed main topic Mrs Dracula, 1
Logan Keys well it had to do with mrs dracula, in a way, 1
Adelaide Walsh Interesting, quite liked this one, sorry had to wade through the messes of the others but glad hung in to read this one, 4 or even 5
With fabulous authors such as Eli Constant, Angela Roquet, and Logan Keys, among others, how could Mrs. Dracula not be a great vampire read?
Each story has its own unique qualities that leave the readers still wanting more. I’ve found several great new to me authors via the Mrs. Dracula Anthology. The variety of stories is great also. They each offer different eras and many places of historical reference from all over the world.
I like that these stories are all told from the female perspective of the ladies associated with Dracula. We don’t always get to see things from their points of view as the stories are normally told from the man’s side. I think this offers the reader something special they can’t find just anywhere else.
Overall, this is a great anthology. Many times there are a few duds in anthologies, but I honestly can’t say that any of the stories fell short for me, which is highly unusual. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a variety of great vampire stories told from the female point of view.
This is a collection of short stories from 18 talented authors. Each story is unique and gave us different flavours of their creator’s gift of words. Spanning from the Victorian times, World war II, modern times and even a glimpse of the future, we find different versions of Dracula’s bride as she breathed, lived, loved and fed among the humans around her.
We see her as a victim, as an oppressor, as a lover, as a mother and anything else in between but always with her very own flare. This reader found it hard to pick a favourite from this collection so I can only say grab yourselves a copy and come and tell me which ones you liked best.
3.5 stars for the story "Blood on a Texas Moon," by Diana Layne. Intriguing tale about Mr. and Mrs. Dracula and their Comanche warrior companion set during the days of the Old West. I loved the choice of time period and scene, and the idea of vampire saloon keepers and train robbers was definitely unique! I wish this had been a much longer story though -- it had a lot of potential to be a full-length novel or even a book series. I had so many unanswered questions: How did they become vampires? What was life like for them in the old country? How were they related (or not) to Vlad? And I would have loved an entire story about their time living with the Comanche.
I'm not a big fan of short stories but the stories in this book were excellent. Each one had the single theme of the main character being married to Dracula. The stories were interesting and there were a few I wish had been written as a full-length novel. I think the reason I don't really like short stories is because they all begin to run together and it's hard to remember individual stories and that bugs me. When I read I want to be able to remember what I read.
Still I gave this book five stars because the stories were all very well written and kept my interest.
I received a copy of this book and I gladly leave my review. 18 short stories by 18 different authors and I must say that I couldn’t pick a favourite they were all fantastic. All of the tales centre around Mrs Dracula and her Redemption. I couldn’t find fault in any of the stories, I was drawn in from the first page and couldn’t put it down until I finished the book. Fantastic anthology and I definitely recommend this book.
There are a good gaggle of authors that are featured in this anthology that I enjoy reading stuff from, so I figured I should get it. There were also a number of them that'd I'd heard about and kept meaning to read, so I figured this was as good a time as any to give them a look see.
Fantastic group of authors and unique interpretations about the life of Dracula's wife. Namukasa by Eli Constant was incredible and my favorite. The other standouts to me are Willas Way by Aria Michaels,Come with me by Lee Hayton and Hell Hath No Fury by Logan Keys.I will be adding a lot of new authors to be TBR list.I received an arc from the authors to voluntarily review.
Adore this book I bought whimsically from Amazon. Each and every short story is so good that I went back to read them from time to time. And to be honest not all stories would induce the feeling of horror either. I found a few stories where I actually sympathized with Mrs Dracula. A perfect read for Halloween.
This was a good compilation. They are all short stories that are more like a anti-heroine bad girl style. I can appreciate that. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes that style main character.
I couldn't connect to some of the stories within this anthology. I really struggled with some and almost gave up. The stories were well written they just didn't do it for me.
