Some of the things that the psychopaths featured in this book did will chill your bones… It can be hard to understand what some serial killers have done to their victim’s corpses because it’s just beyond unthinkable and yet, it did actually happen.
Be warned, this book is not for the faint-hearted, and some people might find some descriptions very disturbing.

Most of us don’t see dead bodies very often, and while we encounter them for different reasons and have different reactions, very few of us indeed have ever looked upon the corpse of someone whose death we’ve caused. The act of killing, of destroying a life, is something most people would never consider. It can be hard enough putting down a sick pet or killing an animal for food. But a person?
There are, of course, murderers who kill for money or vengeance. To them, a dead body is an inconvenience, an unavoidable but undesirable concomitant of the killing. Their objective is to end a life, not to produce a corpse. But then, there are other killers, men, and women who kill not just because they desire the death of their victims but because they need their bodies. They are necrophiliacs who have sexual relations with corpses. They are cannibals who consume the flesh of the dead. And there are some who go beyond that. They treat the human corpse like a farmer would treat the carcass of chickens, a butcher a cow, a hunter a deer. They use the human body to make things—food, decorations, and even more utilitarian items. Totally devious and beyond belief…
Some of the cases you’ll find in this book include: • Making wigs • Selling “animal” meat • Creating cooking videos • Filling shoes for display • Selling cosmetic products • Making a flying potion • And more

I'm not sure why the author chose this title for his book; some of them were anything but devious, meaning highly skilled at leading people astray about what they were really up to. None of these people seemed to do anything special to avoid getting caught, if you ask me. They were, however, serious deviates. Every case was so twisted it bordered on the surreal. The author focus the favor of telling us more about the cases you never hear that much about, even giving some rough timelines of the crimes and names of the victims. This is great stuff.
I'm starting to worry about myself reading all of Mr. Smith's books. This a collection of stories dealing with killers around the globe. All of them are devoid of human emotions.
The killers in this book are not your ordinary murderers. They had plans for the corpses. Some of them sold the meat from the bodies. Another used body parts to make medicine, and yet another made and sold soaps and teacakes (you read that right) from the corpses. One youngster, influenced by horror movies, killed a child to make a potion that would enable him to fly.

Most of us have either seen the Broadway musical or the film Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. In the story Mr. Todd, a barber, in order to rob his victims by slitting their throats while in his barber’s chair, and then pulling a lever which causes his victims to fall backwards through a trap door into the basement. Once he gets their possessions his cohort, Mrs. Lovett, takes their bodies and turns their flesh into meat pies and then selling them to her unsuspecting customers in the pie shop she owns.
This fictional story is only an example of what you’ll get reading about the 11 real-life depraved individuals who murdered their innocent victims solely to obtain their bodies for various nefarious reasons. Alex J. Mengel for example needed the scalps of his female victims so he could use the scalps and the hair attached as a wig for his disguise as a woman.
Age doesn’t matter, take 14-year-old Sandy Charles, who used several strips of his victim to make a potion so he could fly. And then you’ve got a senior citizen couple, Faye and Ray Copeland, who made quilts out of their victims’ clothing.
The depravity of these real individuals goes beyond the well-known cases of necrophiliacs, individuals who desire to have a sexual relationship with their victim’s corpses. Once their victims are dead, the corpses are used to make several everyday practical items and a variety of foods.
Unlike those individuals who commit murders for revenge or simply monetary gains, these individuals seem to commit their murders for the sheer sport of it. For having unsettled while enlightening the minds of his readers about this kind of individual, I’ve decided to give this book and its author 5 STARS.
Well I began this book on the way to Dentist for a root canal. Nothing like a bunch of pain to give you perspective on what happened to the victims. Though what I experienced was nothing in comparison to the victims of there notorious killers.
They were the worse of the worse. If you are squeamish or easily disturbed by detailed descriptions of savage murder this is NOT a book you should attempt to read. These victims did not deserve the horrors inflicted on them and neither do you as the reader unless you're fully prepared for what you're going to encounter if you ignore all warnings and dive right in.
These destructive beasts didn't see their victims as human, but objects. A means to an end - vile nauseating means - each more horrible than the last. These killers were completely devoid of feelings when it came to other people, but they had cunning and used it as a facade to charm their victims with enticements. These included a place to stay, to work, money, or a meal.
When none of the enticements worked and if the murderers were alone they forcefully incapacitated their victims before the maiming, mauling, dismembering and sometimes eating began. These predators were true monsters. You've been forewarned!
Some really good stories and shockers. I’ve read a lot of true crime and this one has a lot more gore in than other. The book is well written and kept my concentration from start to finish. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.
