Geralt i Jaskier łowią ryby nad rzeką. W ich sieć zaplątał się pewien tajemniczy dzban. Jaskier twierdzi, że jest w niej dżin. Geralt chce aby Jaskier pokazał mu dzban, ale bard nie chciał i zaczęła się szamotanina, w czasie której wypada pieczęć i wydostaje się dżin. Jaskier wypowiada dwa życzenia: pierwsze, by zginął jego rywal, trubadur Valdo Marx, drugie, żeby mógł się przespać z hrabiną Virginią. Nie zdążył jednak wypowiedzieć trzeciego, gdyż dżin zaczął go dusić...

Sapkowski studied economics, and before turning to writing, he had worked as a senior sales representative for a foreign trade company. His first short story, The Witcher (Wiedźmin), was published in Fantastyka, Poland's leading fantasy literary magazine, in 1986 and was enormously successful both with readers and critics. Sapkowski has created a cycle of tales based on the world of The Witcher, comprising three collections of short stories and five novels. This cycle and his many other works have made him one of the best-known fantasy authors in Poland in the 1990s.
The main character of The Witcher (alternative translation: The Hexer) is Geralt, a mutant assassin who has been trained since childhood to hunt down and destroy monsters. Geralt exists in an ambiguous moral universe, yet manages to maintain his own coherent code of ethics. At the same time cynical and noble, Geralt has been compared to Raymond Chandler's signature character Philip Marlowe. The world in which these adventures take place is heavily influenced by Slavic mythology.
Sapkowski has won five Zajdel Awards, including three for short stories "Mniejsze zło" (Lesser Evil) (1990), "Miecz przeznaczenia" (Sword of Destiny) (1992) and "W leju po bombie" (In a Bomb Crater) (1993), and two for the novels "Krew elfów" (Blood of Elves) (1994) and "Narrenturm" (2002). He also won the Spanish Ignotus Award, best anthology, for The Last Wish in 2003, and for "Muzykanci" (The Musicians), best foreign short story, same year.
In 1997, Sapkowski won the prestigious Polityka's Passport award, which is awarded annually to artists who have strong prospects for international success.
In 2001, a Television Series based on the Witcher cycle was released in Poland and internationally, entitled Wiedźmin (The Hexer). A film by the same title was compiled from excerpts of the television series but both have been critical and box office failures.
Sapkowski's books have been translated into Czech, Russian, Lithuanian, German, Spanish, French, Ukrainian, and Portuguese. An English translation of The Last Wish short story collection was published by Gollancz in 2007.
The Polish game publisher, CD Projekt, created a role-playing PC game based on this universe, called The Witcher, which was released in October 2007. There is also a mobile version of the game which has been created by Breakpoint Games and is being published by Hands-On Mobile in Western Europe,Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Sama książka bardzo mi się podobała, ale w formie słuchowiska jest jeszcze lepsza!

Ďalšou ilustrovanou poviedkou zo sveta Zaklínača je Posledné želanie od Sapkowskeho. Snáď už nemusím pripomínať, že Zaklínač je moja veľká srdcovka, aj keď som stále nedočítala poslednú časť.
Táto poviedka je zameraná na Geralta, Blyskáča a Yennefer. Geralt zháňa pomoc pre Blyskáča, ktorého napadol džin a zranil ho. Tak sa prvýkrát stretne s čarodejkou Yennefer. Príbeh už poznám z knihy, ale takto s ilustráciami bol tiež úžasný.
Páči sa mi, že každú knihu ilustroval niekto iný, čo som si až doteraz nevšimla. V tejto sa mi páčili tie ilustrácie najviac, Yennefer je zobrazená presne podľa popisu. Vau, nemohla som sa vynadívať.
Toto je len taký môj subjektívny pocit, vylievanie emócií, keďže knižka nič nové, okrem ilustrácií, nepriniesla. Aj tak som vďačná, že sa vydavateľstvo rozhodlo tieto knihy preložiť a mohla som si svoju knižnicu rozšíriť o takýto zberateľský kúsok.

Po několika pokusech přečíst Zaklínače, jsem usoudila, že to nebude kniha a autor pro mě..no nedá se svítit... 🤷♀️
Nicméně poté, co jsem dokoukala seriál a zmateně bádala, kde, co, kdo a hlavně kdy - obzvlášťe v tom čase jsem měla mega bordel - jsem si řekla, že to musím zkusit znovu...ale odsouvala jsem to..a pak jsem někde zahlédla komentáře, že Zaklínač je i jako audiokniha..tak co..zkusíme...
Užila jsem si každou minutu audioknihy a hned po doposlouchání Posledního přání jsem zakoupila Meč osudu ;-)
Momentálně sjíždím znovu seriál a konečně vím, kde, co, kdo a hlavně kdy a líbí se mi a moc ;-)

La version illustrée de la célèbre rencontre entre Geralt et Yennefer, qui scellera leur destin.
Je ne m'attarderai pas ici sur l'intrigue de cet album : Le Dernier voeu est une excellente nouvelle, parfois drôle, qui narre avec brio comment le sorceleur et la magicienne se sont retrouvés inextricablement liés.
Le plus intéressant résidait bien entendu ici dans les illustrations qui accompagnaient cette histoire. Si j'avais hâte de découvrir ces dernières, je dois avouer que j'en ressors un peu sceptique. Le début de l'album est très bien illustré et on prend plaisir à découvrir les personnages et les scènes dont il est question et Yennefer m'a séduit lors de sa première apparition.
Le problème cependant est que la deuxième moitié de l'album n'atteint jamais un tel niveau. Certes, il est plus difficile d'illustrer des passages où l'on ne sait pas très bien ce qu'il se passe à cause d'un djinn qui fout le bazar... Mais cela n'explique pas pourquoi Yen n'est d'un seul coup plus forcément aussi semblable par rapport à la première illustration.
Si cela reste un plus non négligeable d'avoir cette nouvelle illustrée, je ne la recommande qu'en dernier parmi les trois albums sortis !

Diese illustrierte Ausgabe enthält die letzte der 6 Kurzgeschichten (Titel: "Der letzte Wunsch") aus dem Kurzgeschichten-Sammelband "Der letzte Wunsch" - wer alle Geschichten als illustrierte Ausgabe lesen möchte, müsste also 6 Bücher kaufen. Auf Deutsch sind (bisher?) nur 3 Bände in illustrierter Form erschienen: "Der Hexer", "Das kleinere Übel" und "Der letzte Wunsch".
Die Illustrationen sind schön und passen stilistisch gut zur Welt des Hexers. Allerdings tragen sie auch nicht wirklich zu mehr Immersion bei, daher würde ich diese Ausgabe eher in die Kategorie "Sammlerstück für große Fans der Hexer-Reihe" einordnen.

This book feels so nostalgic. For more than one reason. I've read it in middle school. But also since I'm Polish, it feels very much like hmm home. It has elements of slavic folklore, which we carry from generation to generation, and gives this specific great atmosphere. Sapkowski retold many well and less known tales, reflected in a brutal, more realistic but still magical world, with morally grey characters. Speaking of, I love that element in books, the fact that we can appreciate characters who are not perfect yet so endearing. I found the way the author kept sneaking in the title of each story during the dialogues so clever and entertaining! This book presents the beginning of the love tale between Geralt and Yen in such an amazing way, I could feel the emotions so well. I am planning to read it again sometime in the future but in English, I'm very curious how the vibe will change and what decisions the translators decided to make. I just want to add, I am a fan of books, games, now TV show and Geralt and his world will always be dear to my heart ♡

Tahle povídka se mi ze všech z prvního dílu líbila asi úplně nejméně. Namluvené to bylo opět dokonale, ale moc mě nebavil ten děj ohledně džina v lahvi. To ale nebylo ještě to nejhorší, nejhorší byla zaručeně postava Yennefer. Větší krávu jsem už dlouho neviděla. Opravdu to byla vypočítavá a sobecká mrcha, která se všemi manipulovala a Geralt z ní byl bůhvíproč úplně pryč. Hlavně ke konci ty neuvěřitelné plky, kdy říkal, že už nikdy nebude líbat jiné rty než její, nikdy nebude chtít pohlížet do jiných očí než těch jejích... Geralt, na kterém se mi vždycky líbilo, jak byl klidný, do ničeho se nepletl a nikdo ho nezajímal... a najednou úplně obrátí a nechá se zblbnout nějakou čúzou, která je všechny skoro přivedla do záhuby? Tohle naprosto nesnáším. Bohužel jsem slyšela, že Yen bude dále hrát velkou roli a to teda nevím, jestli se mi bude líbit, protože tuhle povídku úplně položila.

Nouvelle version illustrée, et hélas, celle-ci me convainc un peu moins que les autres. Hélas car il s'agit d'une nouvelle centrale dans l'univers, celle de la rencontre entre Geralt et Yennefer.
Pourquoi cette "déception" (il ne faut pas pousser, l'ensemble est de très belle facture)? Tout simplement car je préférais le style des deux précédents ouvrages. Même Geralt, qui est pourtant dessiné à partir du même modèle me séduit moins. Et Yennefer, me laisse souvent de marbre, en dehors de sa première apparition. À noter par ailleurs que d'une illustration à une autre, il est parfois difficile de la reconnaître.
Enfin, certains choix d'illustrations ne correspondent pas forcément à ce que j'aurais mis en avant (j'attendais clairement la scène du bain, même pas!!!).
Une bel objet malgré tout et une collection que je continuerais avec plaisir si d'autres tomes venaient à paraître

Dost jsem si to užila. Hodně mi pomohlo, že jsem se předtím koukla na seriál, jinak bych to asi nikdy nedočetla. A že jsem se o to pokoušela. Ne jednou.

Jeden z najlepszych audiobooków, jakie dane mi było posłuchać do tej pory.
Zdecydowanie warto zainteresować się w miejscu tradycyjnego czytania książki - muzyka, efekty dźwiękowe i aktorzy głosowi robią dobrą robotę.
Sama twórczość lekka, wciągająca, a jednocześnie czasem potrafi zaskoczyć przemyśleniem. Niesamowite uniwersum bazujące na legendach, mitach wielu kultur, przedstawiające mniej lub bardziej po cichu problemy rasizmu, przemijania, przeznaczenia czy przywar ludzkich.
Zdecydowanie warto zainteresować się w miejscu tradycyjnego czytania książki - muzyka, efekty dźwiękowe i aktorzy głosowi robią dobrą robotę.
Sama twórczość lekka, wciągająca, a jednocześnie czasem potrafi zaskoczyć przemyśleniem. Niesamowite uniwersum bazujące na legendach, mitach wielu kultur, przedstawiające mniej lub bardziej po cichu problemy rasizmu, przemijania, przeznaczenia czy przywar ludzkich.
