The sequel to the wildly popular romantic comedy SINGLE DAD ON TOP has arrived.
My bride-to-be Arianna wants to meet my parents.
But...they live in a trailer. Dad thinks Playboy T-shirts are classy because the naked women are silhouettes. Mom has a tattoo of a dog humping a palm tree. I don't think either one has said a sentence without an f-bomb since 1985.
I changed my name a long time ago. Started a new life with a clean slate and never looked back.
I don't know how to mend that bridge.
Or why there's a pig-on-a-spit at their surprise engagement party.
Or how Arianna and I ended up wearing matching "Ball and Chain" bride and groom shirts.
But you don't get to choose your parents.
And in my family, crazy is definitely relative.
___ While Single Dad Plus One could probably stand alone, a lot of the humor builds on book one, Single Dad on Top. We recommend reading them in order.

Lots of stuff happening. I kept hearing Travis Tritts song on my head I Spell T R O U B L E!! The whole time they were in Alabama. But I laughed as well. Loved this story and can I say can we please get a book with Dell’s brother Donovan?
HANDS DOWN, ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING & HEARTWARMING BOOKS I'VE READ THIS YEAR!!! Title: Single Dad On Top Plus One Author: J.J. Knight Designation: Contemporary Romantic Comedy, Book Two of Duet, Sequel to Single Dad On Top, Can Be Read As Standalone But Not Recommended, NO Cliffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Deliciously Cute and Oh So Sexy Stars***** **Disclaimer: Single Dad On Top Plus One is the second book of a romantic comedy duet featuring Dell Brant and Arianna Hart. Single Dad On Top Plus One could be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading it after the first book of the duet, Single Dad On Top. And yes, I've read both. Actually, I binge read the two books over the course of a single weekend and the only thing I didn't like was reading 'The End' on the final page. I loved the characters and story so much, I wanted more, more, more! lol...
Oh my! I love, love, love Single Dad On Top Plus One by J.J. Knight! As many of you know, J.J. Knight is one of the pen names for the very talented Deanna Roy. It matters little what name Knight/Roy uses since everything she writes is magically delicious and Single Dad on Top is no exception. And no, there's no magic or fantasy in either book, just good old-fashioned and very well written fictional contemporary romantic comedy. Without a doubt, Single Dad On Top and Single Dad On Top Plus One are two of the most entertaining books I've read this year. I was completely hooked within the first few pages of both books and simply could not turn the pages fast enough. But as usual, I digress so let's talk details! Single Dad On Top Plus One is a fast-paced, easy to follow, fun-filled, exceptionally well crafted and edited, full-length comedy filled to the brim witty dialogue, laugh-out-loud humor, a cast of engaging and endearing characters, a little heartrending drama, a few spicy secrets and plot twists, an attraction that won't be denied, a whole lot of heartwarming romance, and an emotionally moving story that will tug at your heartstrings. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome billionaire Dell Brant aka Hasmund McDonald and beautiful child day spa owner Arianna Hart. These two characters are a match made in heaven and complement each other perfectly. The dialogue is smart, snappy, at times outrageously funny, well executed and flows effortlessly. I snickered, snorted, snuffled, chuckled, giggled, sniffled and sobbed through the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. There were times I laughed so hard I actually peed myself! TMI? Maybe, but it's the truth. I was immediately smitten with handsome self-made billionaire playboy and serial womanizer Dell Brant. Dell is a tough, ruthless, businessman accustomed to getting everything he wants, not only in business but his personal life as well. And prior to meeting Arianna Hart, Dell Brant never double dipped. He's more of a love and leave 'em after one encounter kinda guy, but women still vied for the opportunity of being seen on his arm, even if it's only once. His refuge in the storm is his luxurious penthouse at the top of one of his many New York City real estate holdings, aptly named the Dell Brant Building, and even has his own butler. But even a handsome player like Dell Brant has secrets and all it took to bring him to his knees was one little frilly bundle of joy left anonymously at his door and a sexy virginal children's day spa owner. Dell may be a cutthroat businessman but when it comes to three-month-old babies and his new forever girlfriend, he's clueless and still hopelessly out of his element, but with Arianna's patience and understanding, he's getting much better at diaper duty, although there are still a few mishaps! lol... I fell in love with both Dell and Arianna and the sparks between these two are still flying! There has never been a more perfect example of opposites attracting, but Dell and Arianna actually have a lot more in common than either initially realized. These two very independent but lonely people have finally found love. Fortunately, Dell has popped the question and wants to make an honest woman of Arianna, especially since the world thinks baby Grace is hers and not Dell's. What? Oh yes! Unfortunately, it's finally time to meet the folks - and that means Arianna wants to meet the redneck parents Dell has been keeping secret for the past ten years. It looks like the couple is taking the private jet to Alabama! Oh my! Get ready for a pig on a spit and a polka at the engagement party! lol... Womanizing playboy billionaire who gets another very unexpected surprise-check! A kindhearted fiancee who wants to meet the family-check! An adorable baby who captures the heart of everyone-check! Lies exposed, an engagement party from hell, and even more hijinks-check! Undeniable attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a love that will change three lives and two families-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some tastefully written but very steamy love scenes! Hubba! Hubba! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Hands down, one of the most entertaining books I've read this year.
This book was so much fun and I didn't want to put it down. Dell and Arianna in Alabama with his southern family. Yeah, that is funny even to me and I live in Mississippi and sometimes I want to hide from my family. Not really but I know how he feels. I laughed at how his mom is loud and balls to the wall tell it like it is and her mom is all proper and polite. And when these two women get together, it gets even better. And don't forget Dell's cousins and grandma Jessie. Anyway, this story is fun, sexy, and Dell and Arianna are made for each other and Grace makes things even better. So if you are looking for a story that will have you crying from laughing so much, then start with Single Dad, you won't be disappointed. I'm still laughing just thinking about it. **Copy provided by the author and this is my honest review**
I love a good rags to riches story so this part 2 was so good. How Dell's family meshes with Ariana's and how they make them see it doesn't really matter ... it is all for Grace and to be a family.
Again, I think the title was silly. The book was rather good and the title makes it seem more smutty than it is.
Dell and Arianna have come together, thanking care of Grace like parents should. But the time has come for each to meet their own parents. Any it's like nothing you could imagine. Got lots of adventure and humor in this well written self-contained story. I highly recommend this book.
I liked reading more of Dell, Arianna and Grace. The family drama was hilarious. The wedding was of course perfect. The spice is great 🔥Wouldn't mind having another book in the future continuing this story. 💖
This felt like an extended epilogue, we meet the parents, have a lot of familial conflict, and end with the wedding, and with all that the story doesn't focus on our couple very much.
I preferred book 1 better. This one felt like a bomb exploding with all secrets about the families coming out.. And Dell and Arianna moments were quite limited..
I think I might have enjoyed Single Dad on Top slightly more than this one, probably because it had more funny observations from Dell. (Wait! Who's Dell?) While the first book was about Dell and Grace and Arianna, this one was about meeting the in-laws. In Dell's case, this meant a very large, very Alabama working class family (seemingly, with no filter), unaware of his name, his job, or anything current about him. They certainly know how to put on a spectacular shindig.
Dell's brother Donovan (who apparently won the name lottery in the family) has what may be my favorite lines in this book:
“One of my first memories is him yelling at you that you weren't shoveling shit the right way. Like there's a nuance to doing it.” and
“You can take the boy out o of Alabama,” he says, “but we can pour the Alabama right back in.” He clinks my glass. “Chug-a-lug.”
As in real life, the best laid plans don't always turn out as we'd expect, or hope. In fact, in this instance, everything that can go wrong does go wrong - with hilarious results. I like J.J. Knights’ writing style, which is clear and conversational. I also love her sense of humor, which in this story, veers toward slapstick. I could picture the scene at the racetrack as if I were watching a comedy, laughing in anticipation for what might come next. Though there were no loose ends by time the book had finished, I was still a bit sad to see them skedaddle.
A brilliantly funny and tender story of a blending of cultures.
Single Dad on Top was hilariously funny and now JJ Knight (also known as Deanna Roy) has returned with a sequel that is equally funny.
Like book one, Single Dad Plus One is told in first person POV and alternates between Dell Brant – now a reformed, self-centered manwhore – and Arianna – a feisty, single, businesswoman. Warning – book two contains spoilers for book one and while you probably could read this as a standalone, to get the full effect you really should read Single Dad on Top first and it's FREE for a limited time.
SPOILERS for book one below this point!
Dell and Arianna have been together for a few months now. The adoption of Grace is pending; after that happens they plan to get married. This story is all about what happens when two vastly different cultures collide (Dell's southern, blue-collar family vs Arianna's upper-class parents).
Once again, there are many laugh-out-loud moments in this story; what happens when Dell's family throws a surprise engagement party is priceless. This is a pretty quick read and well worth the time I spent devouring it.
Don't wait to pick this one up while it's only 99 cents (one week only) or available in Kindle Unlimited for the next few months.
Dell and Arianna are heading to Dell's hometown and things are getting CRAZY. You know, if crazy is meeting the family and checking out the trailer park. Getting roped into an engagement party. Oh, and trying to hide the circumstances of Grace's birth from pretty much everyone.
Ha. THOSE TWO. Or three, I guess. They're a hoot. A little wacky and a little clueless and not really great at keeping a secret. But they're fun. Actually, let me backtrack. They'd be okay at keeping a secret if they weren't dealing with their families. Family, man. They never cease to ferret out the things one doesn't want known.
Anyway. Dell is still smitten with women, but this time it's Arianna and Grace who have his full attention. Arianna is somewhat hilariously thrown into situations completely outside anything she's dealt with before. And Grace is stealing hearts no matter whose lap she ends up on.
In the end, the truth will come out and Dell and Arianna have to deal with the fallout of that. And their families. Blending those two very different organisms must be nerve-racking.
In my review of the first book of this duet, Single Dad on Top, I was slightly disappointed that I was unable to connect with the characters. This book helped me to find that connection.
Dell and Arianna travel to Alabama with baby, Grace, so that Dell's family can meet them. No one in his hometown is aware that the dog track worker, Hasmund McDonald, who left there 13 years before is now known as the very upstanding and wealthy Manhattan financier, Dell Brant. There is no belle in Dell's mom's southern. She's a smoking, drinking, cursing, and tattooed spitfire. Dell and his father are still at odds with one another and the only thing they still have in common is their physical appearance.
There are some laugh out loud descriptions of the engagement party Dell's mom and other relatives surprise Arianna and Dell with. Although the biggest surprise turns out to be baby Grace, as Dell failed to mention her existence to anyone in advance. And sparks really fly after Arianna's upper class parents arrive the following night.I
I'm the end what brings everyone together is their love for Grace. Trust a baby to make everything shine.
The story of Arianna and Dell continues as so does their love story. If anyone would have told her two months ago that she would be engaged to a ridiculously gorgeous man with a baby, she would have laughed in their face. But Arianna is over the moon with her man and beautiful baby Grace. Convincing Dell to introduce his family to her and their baby took a lot of talking. It’s not that he feels she would do anything wrong, it’s just his parents are hicks with no filter in what comes out of their mouths. When Dell changed his name it was to leave that world behind and never look back. Now that Arianna wants him to mend those fences, he’s at a loss. Arriving in Alabama to a surprise engagement party complete with a pig roasting on a spit, Dell doesn’t have any words, he’s speechless. When Arianna’s parents arrive unannounced, he knows things can’t get worse. Or can they. This book was even better than the first one. I loved it!
Single Dad Plus One by J.J. Knight is the second book in a series (Single Dad on Top). The premise from the previous book continues, only now Arianna and Dell are together now. The problems that surround their new life however are what makes this enjoyable. Dell comes from dirt poor Alabama. His family continues to live the the stereotypic beer guzzling, trailer trash life. Arianna's family however is disgustingly rich, globetrotting, superficial privileged life. Both Arianna and Dell have not been totally honest about the baby and their relationship with the families, so when they all show up together - things get interesting at best. Again, there are some scenes that make you laugh out loud and others that make you cringe.
Single Dad Plus One by J.J. Knight is another light, funny read that entertains.
I LOVED Single Dad on Top. It was one of the funniest books I've ever read so when I found out Dell and Arianna were getting a sequel (that could definitely be read as a standalone), I was beyond excited.
Dell and Arianna have gotten engaged and are still in the process of Arianna adopting Grace. When Dell tells his family about Arianna and their engagement, they insist that he return home to Alabama so they can meet her. Except that Dell hasn't really shared with Arianna what his upbringing was like and he also hasn't told his family what his life is like now. Throw Arianna's wealthy family into the mix and hilarity ensues.
I didn't think I could love this story more than first but I'm pretty sure that's the case. I finished the story in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I also didn't want it to end. There's heat, comedy, and so many swoon-worthy moments. There are so many amazing characters that I am hoping to see more of in the future!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
I loved this book - romantic comedy that has a baby in it. This book is about Dell (Hasmund) and Arianna who are now engaged and about to meet each other's parents. It's starts off with Dell taking care of his daughter Grace, and boy if you aren't falling off your chair laughing then there is a problem. It's a recommended read and if you have not read book 1, then its a must although it doesn't leave with a cliffhanger, but this is the continuation of it.
I hope J.J. Knight is going to continue with this series and have one for Donovan and maybe include that Dell and his dad make up because although his dad can be an butt, the way I saw it was more of concern that he made something of himself and not fall into their footsteps.
Dell Brant is still on top...but now his fiancee Arianna wants to meet his parents, and he hasn't told them about her...or the baby. He actually has two problems, since they have to keep the secret of baby Grace's origins, while keeping different stories straight with each set of parents. Did I mention, billionaire Dell Brant is actually Hasmund MacDonald, of the trailer park MacDonalds? And his fiancee's high society parents are dropping in as well? There may be a few more than two problems, and a lot more than a few laughs, on the way to this single dad's happily ever after. (And will he EVER figure out how to handle loaded diapers?)
Dell Brant, aka Hasmuth McDonald, hasn't told his family that he changed his name and his history 13 years ago. Then there's his 8 month old daughter that no one in either family knows about. Now Dell's fiancee wants to meet his family...his tattooed, cussing, lives in a trailer in Alabama family. As usually happens, the truth doesn't stay buried.
This sequel to Single Dad on Top is a laugh-out-loud comedy about the chaos that ensues when the truth is revealed. This book was a lot of fun to read and I think any lover of romantic comedy will enjoy reading this book!
OMG! This book should come with a health warning - Don't start to read this if you have somewhere to go or something to do - because you will not want to put this book down. This book is laugh out loud funny, with wonderful characters that make you feel they are right in front of you. You can feel the despair growing as Dell and Arianna's lies and stories start to unravel, and the truth about their lives in New York threatens to be exposed. This is the second book in the series and it really does have to be read in order, but believe me that is not a hardship. Love this!!
Couldn't put this down. Dell and Ariana's story continues with them taking a trip to Alabama to meet his family. I enjoyed getting to know Dell's family. His family threw them an engagement party-they seemed to have a good time. Things got hectic when Ariana's parents showed up in Alabama and sort of let Dell's identity out of the bag. I loved that they decided to get married the way they did. In the end I believe Dell and his family will stay in touch more.
This is the sequel and it was a hilarious! Dell thought he left his past behind but Arianna wanted to meet his family and since he loves her he agrees. What starts out as meeting his parents and brother ends with meeting the whole clan!!! This Alabama clan likes drink and party and they are a riot. Arianna is not use to this and Grace once again is the star of the show. When Arianna's parents show up more fun is added. This is a must read but make sure you read Single Dad first.
I received a copy of this book for a honest review.
The continuing story of Dell and Arianna is both heart warming and scary, as Dell’s family, that he has tried to distance himself from are introduced to the affluence of Arianna’s family. The families may be worlds apart in influence and culture, yet they come together for the sake of a baby that everyone falls in love with. They even compromise on the wedding venue so everyone can attend. JJ is an amazing writer who can pull everything together for a happy ever after,,
One of the 2 best books I've read. JJ Knight is excellent and I laughed till I cried. I enjoyed Single Dad a Billionaire and secret baby this topped that one. Sure wish there was a third one just to see what happens to them, if they stay in NYC or move to Bitmingham, whether Bridget and Wynona stop bickering (nope that'll never happen). Well maybe JJ just wants us to use our imagination and let it be our version. Thanx JJ for a wonderful uplifting series.
I was pretty happy with how Arianna, Dell and Grace’s story ended in Single Dad On Top, so I wasn’t sure more of them would be better since a lot of what makes a romance is the anticipation.
But, SINGLE DAD PLUS ONE gives us the side of their story where they become solidified as a team weathering the challenge of introducing themselves to two very different families.
It’s funny, heartwarming and still plenty passionate and romantic. I plan on reading the next book about Dell’s brother Donovan that takes place 8 years later.
HEA sequel to book 1 Could be standalone, but you miss half the story if you do
Trailer park meets trust fund
She is a trust fund, nanny raised, sweet woman. He was a trailer park, name changed, self made billionaire who fell in love in book 1. This is the sequel, the story of how their families meet and the fall out from it. It's a cute story, starts right after book 1 ends and follows them to their wedding. The brother in this book is the mmc in Tasty Mango, another great book by this author. (I read it first because I didn't realize they were related books)
