In this Weird Western, Will Anderson is an eleven year old living on a cattle ranch in Colorado, when some visitors pass through, on their way west. They bring old world ways with them, interesting accents, and death. Also includes an author's note.
Rish Benjamin Outfield is a writer, voice actor, and audiobook narrator. He got his start co-hosting the podcasts "The Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine" and "That Gets My Goat." He also features his own stories on the "Rish Outcast" podcast.
This story didn't seem to have Rish's usual flair. I kept wanting there to be an unexpected dark twist, but this story seemed pretty predictable to me. I also didn't find the characters particularly compelling. I've read a few things with little boy protagonists lately that have disappointed me, so maybe I just have trouble relating to that kind of character. I really like Rish's other work so I'm still looking forward to reading more from this author.
