Great series
The author Mr Weil has given us the readers a excellent series of books. Ending the story with the major battle on two fronts. I am hoping that he will look at extending the adventures of Fleet Admiral Vickers.

This series has gone through some changes. If you go back to the first few books, the Earth was just beginning to get into space and colonize other planets. One such colony was Newton. It was far enough from Earth to be missed if you didn’t know the way there, but close enough so the two planets could share tech and commerce. Not much was thought about protecting either planet since humans had made no contact with aliens, yet.
Then the Profiteers came! One in particular, Profiteer Creed, brought his relatively small fleet to Earth and demanded all its gold and other precious jewels. Earth had very little in the way of planetary defenses and their only fleet was visiting Newton at the time of the Profiteers arrival. Still, Earth did what they could until word could get to Fleet Admiral Kurt Vickers and his fleet for help. Help did finally arrive and after a significant struggle, Fleet Admiral Vickers drove off the Profiteers this time.
Now Earth and Newton knew they were not alone in the galaxy. They eventually found out where the Profiteers came from and that place was a very busy system with a trading planet at its center called Kubitz. Actually, Kubitz was just a very large black market planet where anything and everything was bought and sold. Even humans from Earth found themselves being captured and sold at the slave markets on Kubitz.
So, as the master of capitalism, humans from Earth and Newton soon began learing the ways of Kubitz dealing and managed to secure some very valuable and capable weapons and defensive systems. They soon became a formidable force in this region of the galaxy. While Profiteer Creed still tried to cause trouble and returned to Earth once more, he found out the pickings weren’t so easy. Fleet Admiral Kurt Vickers had built a pretty good sized armada and could protect Earth or Newton very easily.
Then we learn of the “Destroyers of Worlds”. From here on out, the books takes a new direction which I think enable it to continue through these five books. Otherwise, I think the story would have ended somewhere around book three or sooner. The “Destroyers of Worlds” became known as the Vorn. They had been attacking this galaxy for millennia using the inhabitants of the galaxy’s planets as a food source. The Vorn were extremely powerful and very far advanced in technology compared to the rest of the galaxy and certainly the humans from Earth and Newton.
Admiral Vickers had learned of a lost civilization that had supposedly defeated the Vorn a long time ago, but for some reason, this civilization could no longer be found in the galaxy. Yet, he made inquiries on Kubitz, buying information from anyone willing to sell and eventually got a lead to a dark nebula that no one could enter. Into that nebula went Fleet Admiral Vicker’s and his ships. They found a Dyson Sphere so vast that it was beyond comprehension. Inside was the entire civilization of the Glaymons; billions of Glaymons. These people were again vastly far more advanced than anyone else in the galaxy and they had the capability to easily defend their Dyson Sphere against anyone ore anything including the Vorn.
The Glaymons were also pacifist! They knew about the Vorn and knew they were converting billions of sentient beings into food pellets, but that was not their worry right now. They figured they could exist very well inside their Sphere until their final plan for the extermination of the Vorn was ready. Only problem, that plan wasn’t going to be ready for two-million years!
Fleet Admiral Kurt Vickers has to some how convince these Glaymons to move their plan up considerably or at least release some of their technology. With the ships of the Glaymons, Admiral Vickers figured they might have some kind of chance against the Vorn. Then he met a faction of the Glaymons known as the Aggressives. These Glaymons were ready to fight the Vorn now! They had their own starships and Glaymons ready to go into combat, they only needed a little encouragement to breakout of the Dyson Sphere which they did in defiance of the Glaymon Council. These Aggressives also began to share their tech with not only Admiral Vickers, but Earth and Newton.
Now after four books about this new relationship, things are about to change for the Vorn. Everything you wanted done to them is about to happen. They no longer can harvest helpless planets turning their inhabitants into food cubes which are sent back to their Queens in an unknown part of the galaxy. The Vorn are ant-like and number possibly in the trillions. How can the surviving galaxtic population fight such a large and overwhelming foe. Will the assistance of the Glaymons be enough? You’ll find your answer at the end of this book. Enjoy reading the ending to a very good story.
Oh yeah, Profiteer Creed gets taken care of also!

Before you pick this one up to read, please note it is book #5 of a series: you need to have read the other books in the series first or this one won’t make much sense to you.
Without having a spoiler, the author picks up right where he left off with the continuing conflict with the Vorn. The battle scenes are realistic, the author paints the picture as if you are right there in the middle of things, but what I liked the most was he has become much better at character development and making you feel like you really know the characters. Consistent with the other books in the series I stayed up late to finish this one.
This is supposed to be the last one of this series, and I do believe it has run its course. The Kindle version of this title is $3.99 – if you enjoyed the other books of the series, you will certainly receive more than $3.99 worth of entertainment value out of this one. If you’re looking for a good science fiction series to start, go start with book one and read them all the way through to the end.

Another masterful work.
Raymond Weil is unquestionably one of the genre's best series authors. The Star Cross series, with its interwoven story lines keeps the reader thoroughly engrossed. I do recommend that readers start with Book One, as the story lines and characters continuously develop.
I also have to recommend ALL of his space-opera series. The same philosophy of long story lines is in all of his series, and guarantees many hours of exciting and detailed action, and getting to know the characters in depth.
I hope we haven't heard the last of the Star Cross universe.

An appropriate ending.
This is the grand finale! The Vorn are planning to finish the consumption of all life in the galaxy. It's up to the Human and Lakiam forces, as well as their very powerful "Ancient" friends to take the battle to the Vorn.
I found a few items that should have been found during final editing. Also, it still had a stiffness to it that bothered me. The characters' thought processes were so simplistic and cardboard-ish that it just detracted from the story for me. So, I couldn't give this book 5 stars.

The Cost of War Is Necessary
I really like this series. This book nicely wraps things up. There is action, some humor and a bit of romance. The military science is excellent. The characters are compelling and competent on both sides. Fleet Admiral Vickers in particular. Even the enemy Prince Brollen is interesting. I felt that I was standing on the bridge with Admiral Vickers during the battle scenes. A very well written series.

fantastic reading and again a while galactic stage story
I can’t stop reading R.L.Weil, his universe is so rich and vision so bold. This série is greatly military oriented but with such a flavor for details and big picture societies in depth. From a stain sphere to a planet wide bordel, the journeys is fantastic, a must read for any fan of space opera with a solid background in hard sci-fi.

The Vorn! is a good installment and a good conclusion to the series. I generally like books from Ramond L. Weil. They are simple, straightforward military space opera with plenty of good space action and likable characters. This book is no exception.
The book is perhaps a bit on the lighter side compared to some other authors in the genre but it is still very a very good read.
A lot of the book centers around the attempts to get the ancients to involve themselves in the battle against the Vorn. I have to say that the stubbornness of the Vorn council and the pacifists therein was really frustrating.
I’m not going to spoil the book and say whether the ancients do go to war in the end but since when has impossible odds stopped Admiral Vickers anyway. I really like this character. Especially since he is not afraid to place a boot or two up various despicable alien arses.
There are plenty of space action as usual and it is quite well executed. Our human friends and their allies are fiercely fighting the Vorn and, to my great enjoyment, provides more than a few nasty surprises for them. To be fair all of their success cannot be solely attributed to Admiral Vickers & Co but also to High Prince Brollen himself who may be a master of Vorn intrigue and machinations but less capable when it comes to military strategy.
Then there is the side story of High Profiteer Creed of course. As I already wrote this book is the conclusion of the series, at least the Vorn invasion part of it, so it should come as no surprise that Creed’s past actions will finally catch up with him.
This brings us to the ending. One thing that I really liked with the book (spoiler ahead) is that the bad guys do indeed get what they deserve, for some of them, in ways that they never expected even in their worst nightmares.
Very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next book from this author whether it is another Star Cross book or some other book.

A very good conclusion to the story. All the Star Cross novels are very good and move along as nice fitting pieces of a longer story arc. This novel closes this long form story arc quite well and does live us with a touch of sadness as it leaves very little room for a future novel involving this particular universe.

Marvelous
I ha e finally finished the series and all I can say is that the story line is simply great. I really enjoyed the interplay between the different world's and culture!! In also another numerous sub plots. However, I'm glad it seems to be finally at an end... But who knows what adventures could happen?

Excellent
This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved it. It was so good to see the Vorn get what they deserve in the end. I was shocked to see that they were food for the Fermi!

OUTSTANDING
This book was very well written. It included plots, plans within plans 👍 action and an ending that was both unexpected and full of suspense. I hope to be able to read more about Fleet Admiral Kurt Vickers in the near future.

Episode of the Week...
I really enjoy reading Raymond L. Weil. His books for me are like reading episodic television with story arcs. Predictable, yes, but the journey of how he gets you there is quite fruitful....

It was okay
I have read some of the authors other books. This one has a fairly interesting world, but too much, too repetitive exposition. It is okay.

Good quick read
I enjoyed much of the book, the battles were page turners, however, after while the lack of description of any serious tactics was distracting.

Hard to put down. Would be a five star if the characters bad a bit more depth and better editorial proofreading.

Great finale
Seemed like promise of a great story sometimes but no great plot twist. Pretty ordinary ending for a reasonably good effort.
