Clara's Haunted Violin

Rate this book
There's something unusual about the old beat-up violin Clara's mom won in a country auction. More astonishing than the exquisite sound it produces when played is the beautiful spirit woman who's summoned each time the instrument is pulled from its case. Abby, whose soul is mysteriously bound to her former violin, forms a unique bond of friendship with Clara and teaches her all she knows about music and life as she once knew it, until shadows from her former existence threaten her safety in the human world. From the author of the riveting The Mysterious Fantasy Cube Series, Celeste Hessler weaves fact with fiction to tell a haunting tale of music, friendship, and the lessons that linger with us in this life and beyond in Clara's Haunted Violin.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was recommended by a friend of mine who is a friend of the authors. I’m so glad I checked it out. The characters were all well written. Clara, Susan, Abby and finally Edgar in the end, plus the rest of the characters. To be able to see ghosts and play violin. That is awesome! I’m glad Clara found the article on what actually happened to Abby. It helped her to understand the “why”. Also, there’s the part of me that wished Abby was able to pop in and out when she felt like it. Thanks Celeste for a truly wonderful story.

A ghost story with tremendous heart, readers are sure to be moved by "Clara's Haunted Violin," by Celeste L. Hessler!

Clara is the recipient of a used violin, but this is no ordinary violin. It is a violin with a long and mysterious past. It is a violin with stories to tell, and those stories are told by the ghost of the violin's former owner, Abby. Initially, it appears that Abby simply wants to teach Clara to play the instrument, but as the years go by, and Clara and Abby form a very close, albeit unorthodox, friendship, the secret behind Abby's mysterious connection to the violin begins to unfold. It is a mystery filled with tragedy, but that tragedy has a beautiful light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel, a light that will play the reader's heart strings as beautifully as Clara and Abby play the violin.

Celeste L. Hessler does a marvelous job of crafting and developing the two primary characters. Clara and Abby are two very distinct characters, but in many ways they are one in the same. They are co-dependent characters. They see in each other a chance at fulfillment. Abby has some very important unfinished business and sees the potential to finish that business in Clara. Clara sees in Abby the beautifully ethereal violinist that she would love to be. The two characters come together, both literally and figuratively, to help each other across the finish line.

"Clara's Haunted Violin" demonstrates the power of perseverance. Despite her very unique circumstances, despite the seeming impossibility of accomplishing in death what she was denied in life, Abby's determination knows no bounds. Readers who love a come back story will find it in the pages of this beautiful story! This is a come back story with an emotional punch!
