Not as enjoyable as Chi's Sweet Home but still pretty cute. The formatting was a little off in my opinion but overall it was cute but not exceptional.

I was thinking this would be a continuation of Chi's adventures, with the family leaving for France, instead it's very short vignettes of Chi's life as we've always known it. Overall it feels like one step back. But there were two aspects that really annoyed me. The first was on every single page they had a title with a "to be continued" at the bottom of the page. Was this really necessary? Because if got repetitive REAL fast. It just added another design flaw to a badly designed book. The second is Chi now having a lisp for apparent "cuteness" I suppose or maybe to show how young she is... just cut it out with the added "w's" please. No. I weally mean it!

The adventures of an adorable kitten who is always playful, hungry, and curious. So many of her antics ring true for any cat "parent".

This book is so adorable! If you are a cat owner like me, this book will definitely have relatable parts. I was a little disappointed though because this book was on my wishlist for a long time, and I was really excited when I got it, but it wasn't what I expected. I finished Chi's Sweet Adventures, vol 1-4, and if you have read vol. 4, (SPOILER ALERT) then you know that it leaves off on a cliffhanger. When I got Chi's Sweet Adventures, I thought it would be about them being in France, but it isn't. I was pretty sad when I found that out and I don't know if there are books about them in France. If there are, please let me know. (SPOILERS ENDED) But other than that, I absolutely love this book. It is sweet and we actually learn the name of Yohei's parents! I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who hasn't read it.

Super adorable, and silly. Definitely a positive mood booster and it's difficult to resist Chi and all her cuteness. Love that it's in color, and feel like there's much more story going on than say FukuFuku, but for some reason FukuFuku was just funnier to me. More than likely because Chi is aimed at young audiences. Looking forward to more adventures though, but will hopefully be able to continue with the larger volumes.

I'm a bit on the fence about whether I should give this three or four stars. Initially I gave it four stars, but before writing this review I bumped it down to three. I might put it back up because, even though realistically it's on the same level as any other three star book, but I'm quite biased when it comes to this so I might change it again. I thought that these books might have been a continuation of the main series showing the Yamadas and Chi adjust to life in France, but instead it shows the Yamadas back in Japan and just shows some funny stories. Some of the stories were things that were in the original series, just retold in a different, almost as if it was an alternate reality, one such example being the night that Chi met Cocchi. In fact, I am slightly convinced this is in fact an alternate dimension because Yohei seems much older in this book. He seemed around 5 in Chi's Sweet Home, but he seems more like 7 in this book.

Of course this book did have all the fun of the other books, and as a cat owner most of it's very relatable. My cats also will eat any human food they find, and you have to watch them 24/7 in order to make sure they don't steal anything, and I also relate to Mr. Yamada's obsession with getting Chi to like him as much as she likes Mrs. Yamada and Yohei. I think my two favorite stories may have been "Chi Has Cheese" and "Chi Does Halloween." On top of the food memories, I also have gotten costumes for my cat and gotten disgruntled pictures of them in their little costumes. I recently bought a Kirby cap for them and I had a whole photoshoot with them while they scowled at me. A couple of other stories I enjoyed were "Chi Meets a Parakeet," "Chi is Stopped," and literally all of the little one-page stories at the end.

Overall this wasn't bad, and even though I wasn't as blown away with this book, it was still a fun, quick read. A few things I really liked about the original series that this book lacked were the long lengths, an over-arching plot, and stories that didn't feel rushed. One other thing that I didn't love about this book was the formatting. Instead of going left-to-right (or even right-to-left) it went up to down, for some reason, almost as if this was a comic you'd see in the Sunday papers. I kept accidentally reading it as you usually would, and it would throw me off because I read stuff out of order. I also didn't like how there was a title on every single page as well as the words "continued on part x" or "the end" on well. It was really annoying and added unnecessary clutter to the pages. Again, I think Konami might have been going more for a newspaper comic vibe with this book rather than an actual graphic novel, but it didn't really love it.

With that on top of the lack of originality in some of the stories, which I mentioned earlier, I didn't love it nearly as much as Chi's Sweet Home, but it wasn't bad. I have a feeling that the rest of the books in the series will be pretty much the same, but I don't care. The stories are fun, I love Chi and everything that comes with it, the stories are short, and I already have the books at home so I'm ready to read them. But at the same time the reviews are higher, so I don't know if it's because they're any better or if the people who didn't like this one that much just didn't read any of the other ones.

3.5 stars. This is a cute series, but I really dislike the usage of baby talk (even though Chi is a kitten). It feels weird and detracts from the understanding of the story.

I had a really fun time with this manga. It feels very slice of life and had a very childish, light tone to the entire manga. If you enjoy those type of books, manga, etc... then I definitely recommend giving this manga a chance! I will say that the way the panels are formatted definitely don't fit into the category of the way other manga read. That was the biggest thing that really hindered my reading experience. The panels, per page, have to be read left down and then move to right top, down - if any of that makes any sense. I think if you end up picking this manga up it'll make more sense once you start reading it. Otherwise, the only other thing I think may hinder readers is the tone of this book. The way Chi's voice is written and a lot of the overall tone is very childlike. I think for some readers this won't work for them. This didn't really bother me, personally, but I can see how it may impact others. Overall, I went into this wanting a chill, fun time, and that's what I got. I don't think this manga will be for everyone, but I do recommend it to those who enjoy a good contemporary, slice of life read.

Chi's Sweet Adventures Vol. 1 was a cute read following the adventures of an adorable kitten.

Chi is back in an all new series following Chi in her everyday life with the Yamadas. From cat lessons with Blackie to getting brushed for the first time to going camping, Chi's life is never dull.

I read the Chi's Sweet Home series a few years ago and really enjoyed following Chi and getting to see all the antics she got up to. That series ended with the Yamadas and Chi moving to France which was where I expected this series to pick up but that wasn't the case. This book takes place during the same time frame as the original series and just shows more moments in Chi's life that we didn't originally see. I did like that the book was during the same time frame as that meant we got to spend more time with side characters like Blackie, the older cat who takes Chi under their wing.

The art style in this manga is excellent and I love the bright, colorful illustrations. The animals are all adorable and I like the attention to detail. The author manages to perfectly capture the chaos Chi causes and I was often reminded of my own cats while reading. The storylines were fun and I enjoyed getting to see how Chi reacted to various situations. One thing I didn't like that was a departure from the original series was that Chi would speak like a baby (i.e. angwy instead of angry). It was distracting and I hope it doesn't continue in the other Chi's Sweet Adventures volumes.

Overall Chi's Sweet Adventures Vol. 1 was an enjoyable book and I would recommend it for fans of the original series or cat lovers looking for a manga to pick up.

I was expecting a follow-up to Chi’s Sweet Home of the family in France but this is mostly a re-hash of stories from Chi’s Sweet Home with slightly different illustrations.

Sometimes I wasn’t entirely sure when this was supposed to take place. I did wonder if this was meant to be after because Yohei looked a little older in these drawings but then Blackie or Cocchi would turn up or a same story would be told again from a different perspective and I realized it’s just the same timeline as before.

I didn’t quite understand the need to redo the same stories…

And once again I came out of it disliking the humans because they’re so dense and can’t understand their kitten - doesn’t matter if they can’t speak the same language, after a while you get to know their behaviour; they’re really negligent of her and overall aren’t good caregivers.

Chi’s “baby speak” (“pwey,” “scawwy”) was grating in its overuse too. Felt like it was overdone in this compared with Chi’s Sweet Home somehow.

It gets points for the colour illustrations and being a super short read.

A collection of everyday short adventures with Chi and her Japanese family as she tries to get treats, avoids things she doesn't like, makes a new kitty friend, and goes exploring with Yohey.

Words are not sufficient to express how much the students at our school love Chi. This kitty's books are ALWAYS checked out, so there will be massive celebration when this new book hits the shelves. The illustrations are cute. The author totally gets cats. And Chi's antics are adorable. Chi talks with a little bit of a lisp to communicate how young she is, which most of the time is fine. Sometimes it is challenging though (it took me forever to realize that pwey was the English word prey). There's nothing super deep to this book, but it is divertingly entertaining and appeals to a wide age range. If you need a good dose of cute in your life, pick up a Chi book.

No content issues.

Flipped through this morning because it came in on a New Book cart and I needed something to do. Not as good as Chi's Sweet Home. There's not one story, but several mini ones about life as Chi. Not all are exciting. And I admit the 'baby talk' is kind of really annoying. But the Chi character is so freaking cute! He looks like an anime version of my cat, Gizmo, when he was a kitten (curious about Giz? See my profile pic.).

I'm sure all the tweens who have requested we order this book for our collection will be over the moon excited we finally own it.

This is a very cute manga for younger readers about a kitten that lives with a human family . The people's names and cultural clues in the illustrations indicate this is a Japanese family. The kitten is mischievous and gets into all kinds of predicaments. She also speaks in baby talk (although the humans only hear cat meows). The artwork is very appealing. However, this book, translated from Japanese, is formatted in the way English books are formatted (left to right). Each page has eight panels of Chi's hijinks, read top to bottom, left to right.

This is just straight up one of the cutest things I've read in a while. It's an adorable eight panel comic about a kitten being a kitten, no surprises or anything like that. It's the manga equivalent of watching a youtube video of a cat doing cute things.

In this regard it's sort of perfect though. I dunno if this will enrich my life far into the future but it's adorable right now and that's all that matters to me.

Chi is settling into her new home with her human family, but she keeps getting into trouble. Chi also does not seem to know she is a cat so she has a lot of learning to do.

Chi is silly and sure to delight young readers. This volume is a series of short stories featuring Chi causing trouble. The illustrations are all in color and expressive. The vocabulary is limited and reflected in the illustrations. This is a good option for early readers and for read-aloud.

Reading this after reading all of sweet home, it’s very clear just a new 4 panel adaption of the original. It’s still cute, and some of the changes/ updates that are made to the story are interesting (like finally learning the parent’s name). But it some how doesn’t have the same charm as the original story. If you had to pick sweet home vs sweet adventure go for the original. It’s still cute so I don’t mind reading more chi content.

My oldest daughter is really into cats and cat stories so I decided to pick this up and read after she had completed it. Lots of fun and broken up in a way that you can simply read a little bit whenever you have a little free time. Most of the stories are self-contained and yet stretch for a few pages for continuity. I thought the stories were cute and fun and think anyone who likes cats will enjoy the stories and adventures of Chi.

It is a good book with basically supplemental shorts added to the main story. Biggest issue I have with it is Yohei has grown up a bit since originally series (chi sweet home) from toddler to older elementary age. This means it has a continuation error as chi is still kitten age. But they are just meant to be shorts so still enjoyed it

So bad compared to the Chi's Sweet Home series and the Sue and Tai-Chan series. The design of the pages was awful and the stories were hard to follow and read. Lots of text and dialogue in the very small and highly detailed boxes, which made it hard to read. The stories themselves were somewhat taken from the first Chi book, but here it is implied that they have never happened before.

Where is the plot? ;~;
Chi is just going here and there but there is no plot.
Yes, she is still cute. But I really would like to see Chi growing up. And I really want to read some day the moment when Chi and her mother meet. She is just dreaming about her as always.

Chi's sweet adventure is a very cute story! Especially when your feeling down. It's fun, lively, adorable and full of love! Chi loves to get into so much trouble, even the older cats can't help but enjoy Chi's company.

I highly recommend this story.

Not really a cat fan, but if I was these stories are definitely catered to the people who love cats. Chi is an adventurous kitten who goes on adventures in her daily life. Not saying that this book is horrible but as a graphic novel I kinda wish I didn't spend as much time on it as I did.
