Step into nightfall, as the boundary between day and night blurs and shadows begin to appear. Let your imagination roam (inside or outside the lines), as you bring to life the woodland creatures who live among the lush flora of this magical garden, and the whimsical fairies who call these creatures friends
Includes 94 full-page illustrations of diverse plants and flowers--32 pages with Maria Trolle's signature black background--and a plant registry for artists to reference the flora rendered throughout this new collection.
Maria Trolle is a graphic designer and illustrator living in Tyreso, outside Stockholm. Her passion for gardening acts as a thread to her art, with plants, vegetables and flowers offering daily inspiration--preferably from her own garden.
This is the fourth coloring book from Maria Trolle, previous three being Blomstermandala, another Blomstermandala and Vivi Söker en Vän. While Vivi was a paperback and looked different due to it being a coloring book version to the original storybook, Skymnings Timman returns to Blomstermandala in terms of its looks with the hardback cover with gold lettering. The paper is still the same smooth goodness Pagina always gives us, you really can’t find better paper anywhere. The images are double-sided but I haven’t experienced any issues with it, maybe you would get some bleeding with alcohol markers but those bleed through anything, care is required regardless of the paper. This I want to say right off the bat, I LOVE that there are latin names for the flowers in the end of the book, making it really easy to Google for images of the flowers, to see what they should look like. I mean it’s no crime if you want a blue tulip for instance, go right ahead. But if you do aim for a slightly more realistic result, you might Google to find tulips aren’t usually blue 😛 The images themselves are very very sweet, I specially love the ones with hedgehogs, I have a soft spot for them. Seriously, I squealed with joy when I found out we have a hedgehog family in our yard this year 🙂 Much happiness!
Overall, I think it’s yet another winner from Maria Trolle, the cuteness factor is too much, I love it. I must say, Maria Trolle is still in my holy trinity of artists along with Hanna Karlzon and Emelie Lidehäll Öberg. I really must move to Sweden, it seems!

MY THOUGHTS:
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I just love these books. There are enough pictures to manipulate with your style of art. The variety offered is simply gorgeous. Some are on a cream background and others on a black. The finished work is stunning.
I find these books relaxing and they help me clear my mind for sleep. I will be posting some of the finished works I've done on my author's site soon.
The paper is grade A quality, and the colors hold well. The size of the pictures are perfect, easily manipulated and look gorgeous when completed. I wouldn't recommend ripping them out of the book. They are contained in a hardcover that would make a perfect keepsake, coffee table book, etc. It's what I'm going to do.
