The sinister RX organization is hell-bent on world domination, however its top general has a different goal in mind: getting up close and personal with the strapping superhero Braveman! Though she has no powers and very little brains the General is determined to do whatever it takes to seduce her number one crush/greatest foe. One thing’s for certain, Braveman’s never faced a villain like this before!
When you ask your mom for Excel Saga, and she says you have Excel Saga at home, this is what she's talking about. Instead of being in love with the leader of the inept, evil organization, General-sama is in love with a superhero, the evil leader is a pushover in an edgy-looking mask, I guess the Hyatt-equivalent character is a scientist with thick glasses and really long sleeves, and the three generic minions are essentially Puchus. For the most part though, it lacks the heart and punchiness of its clear inspiration. Precarious... is pretty much the textbook definition of an average, middle-of-the-road comedy series. Some of the jokes work, but a lot of them fall kinda flat--although, there is some hope.
Toward the end of this volume, we get introduced to a couple new characters, who liven things up a bit: X-kun is a cat with human intelligence, a superiority complex, and a perverted streak, and G.G.-chan is an easily-flustered monster girl ninja who had the misfortune of being spliced with a cockroach. They aren't in much of the book, but they seemed like the first steps Precarious... might be taking toward developing its own distinct personality. I do have volume two of this, since I was able to pick up both for cheap during a sale, so at some point I'll see if it capitalizes on the promise of the high notes volume one ended on.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS!!! I know it is just a gag manga, but it is so clever in the way it pokes fun at American superhero comic tropes and archetypes. Plus, who can resist the premise of an evil organization general using every match-up she has with the superhero as a way to put the moves on him in some way or another? General-san is just so cute with all her failed hijinks to get Braveman to notice her. This is just a really fun manga so far!
As is (unfortunately?) true for a lot of manga I read, I picked this up because of an out-of-context page or panel showing off one of the sexy female characters. I don't remember what the page was, so I don't even remember if it was of Black General herself. But the important things are/were that I like a lot of tokusatsu, and I like manga boobs. So I bought this volume. That was actually like three-and-a-half years ago, and I'm just now reading it. Which is also true for a lot of manga I read! (。ŏ﹏ŏ)
I think there actually is a "better" reason why I took so long to read this volume after buying it, compared to other manga I've picked up. When I got the volume, I skimmed through it, and found enough titties and booty to "justify" the purchase. But I also saw that the main "hero" (our antagonist, I guess) looks like Batman. Instead of, you know, a Japanese tokusatsu hero. Like a Kamen Rider or something. And then the issue gets stretched a bit further, partly because I haven't seen enough Kamen Rider, but... uh, as far as I'm aware, it's really more Super Sentai that does/did the whole "cast a JAV idol as a female general for the bad guys, because the target audience is kids but their dads may be watching" thing. I'm watching Carranger right now, for example, and I'm staring hard at Zonnette's cleavage every episode!
Anyway, a lot of the jokes here are about tokusatsu tropes, which is awkward when Braveman resembles Batman and Western superheroes run off a different set of tropes. But it's all still funny. Most of the jokes in general are about Black General being a stalker and/or a horndog, so they can be funny to people with little superhero experience, Japanese or otherwise.
Perhaps the main draw of this manga is the artstyle. Not sure how I'd want to describe it, but it reminds me of Viewtiful Joe, Disgaea, honestly kind of Invader Zim, a bit of Panty & Stocking and/or Luluco. Just a mix of things that toe the line between Japanese and Western animation styles. It's very striking, and I love it!

It's a testament to the artist's ability that General-san's ass even looks great in so small a panel as when she's giving away the lunch's secrets on Page 113...!!!
GG-chan's tan ass in shimapan on Page 141...!!!!! 🥵
General-san's Santa boobies, tummy, and thighs in white stockings on the cover of Chapter 16...!

This manga made me irrationally angry. All the characters hardly even have a personality, the main character is sexualized way too much, and this is supposed to be a comedy but I didn’t find it funny at all. It was boring and made me mad.
Pretty funny. I like the quirky characters and thr things they do. Also like the fanservice a big thumbs up for that. The short stories are short and sweet snd entertaining i look forward to the next one.
