Finally A Good Foxen

Shifter's Shield by Jules Tyler is part of the Kindle Worlds Novella series and the One True Mate series. Jules is the first to write about the foxen. She tells the story of Caylan, a half foxen and half bearen. Caylan is the leader of the foxen rebels that are planning to fight against Khain. The dirty is well throughout. The characters are spot on for the OTM series. I gave the book a 4 out of 5 due to editing issues. There are misspelled words and words in the wrong place throughout the book. While no one is perfect, there are just too many errors not to have noticed them. I do hope the Lisa Ladew's OTM series will bring more foxen into the storyline and revisit Jules characters in the future.

Home to the shiften fold

A quick, clever read moving the One True Mates closer to their show down with the demon Khain. As part of this alternate world through Jules Tyler's talent of spinning an interesting tale, we meet a smart, honest and brave Foxen hybrid, Caylan. Caylan finds Tansy camping in his woods. He's immediately drawn to her and so begins the first stage of the stepchildren Foxen finding redemption with the other shiften. Clear and well written, this book is a crucial addition to Lisa Ladew's alternate universe through the Kindle World.

Fantastically Foxen Future!

As a parallel Kindle World story, based on Lisa Ladew's One True Mate series, Jules has given us a peak into what the foxen could provide, in the fight against Khain.

I loved watching Tansy transform from the runner, that was ingrained in her from her mother, into being a possible mate to Caylan. And Caylan? What a love! What woman would pass up being with a shifter with the sweetness of a bear, and the tenacity of a fox.

This is a lovely addition to the KW for OTM!

OK complaints first: it was too short! i would have read this one as a full length book.
I love the OTM series and am having fun reading the kindle worlds novellas. I think this is my favorite one to date. I love that a foxen (well...A hybrid) gets a mate. I really feel like this is important for the rest of the OTM stories. It was really nice that Tansy got to hang out with the other mates, it really connected this novella with the rest of the series. Caylan is sweeter than I expected a foxen to be and gave Tansy the roots, she needed to stop running. Great short read!

Caylan is Foxen and for all the other shifters normally considered an enemy, they were made by the devil himself. But Caylan is different and is a leader of the rebels fighting the same fight as all the other shifters. I enjoyed the interesting take in this story, it was a little different while still following the main theme of the series. I feel the author did a great job incorporating her characters in with Lisa's characters from the main series, she kept them close to how they behave which isn't easy to do. Exciting read and very credible.

Proofreading and editors would really come in handy with a lot of authors.
Wade says to Caylan
"From talking to you, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Maybe that’s the bearen in you that helps you be that way.”
But then on the next page when Wade tells Trevor that Caylan is part Bearen, he's shocked that Wade knew.


Short cute quick easy read. Is Tansy a plant name? I'll have to look it up lol she has no personality no matter how hard the author tried to make her "sassy" although I did like her more at the end but wish we would have seen her power in use

Cute novella

I like that this novella coincides with the OTM original series but didn’t follow the main shifters who are to have a mate l. Instead this book has a foxen (well a hybrid)who is mostly known to follow the villain in the series instead of being a “hero” glad that he turned out what everyone least expects and get to have a true mate of his own.

Another great OTM story

The One True Mate series is great and this is another great addition. A foxen now has a chance of finding his mate. And that mate is one kickass female. But he must first convince her to stop running and stay with him. Lots of fun watching the two and add in the other females/sisters and it’s great.

The first foxen mate

I really like that someone took on the possibility/probability that not all the foxen were 'with' Khain. I mean, it only makes sense, especially the younger ones. Caylen makes a great leader with the strength of his heritage. Tansey just needs some encouragement to stay still long enough to listen. What they discover will strengthen them all.

This was an author that I hadn't really read anything of so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from her books.

The plot was very well thought out, the characters were interesting the complex. Was it a good addition to this series!! I would have to say yes, yes, yes..... I'm actually going to read some of her other work because I liked this book so much.

Great idea for a story and enjoyed Jules' writing style. Just need...More! Would have loved a longer story; training to develop her shield ability, more time before she chooses Caylan, an attack or battle with Khain, etc. Now I feel deprived! So Jules, how 'bout another OTM?

Good to see the foxen in a positive light. Caylan will be leader of his people against Khain and his mate Tansy who may have the power to shield will be able to protect her sisters and OTM when the time comes.
