Deja Wilson was given a second chance. She’ll always be grateful to Sophie for her kindness. Now, they’re best friends. The McCords, including Emmett, only like her for Sophie’s sake. It doesn’t stop her from wishing things were different, that she could have a good man like Emmett. When her brother is released from prison and arrested again the same day, she knows Emmett will never want a woman like her. Especially when he learns the truth about why her brother was sent to prison. It doesn’t matter anyway. She doesn’t deserve him.

Emmett McCord has wanted Deja since the moment he met her, despite how she came into their lives. It didn’t take long for him, and the family, to forgive her and see just what kind of woman she is. Strong. Determined. Remorseful. Faithful to a fault. He wants to declare his feelings, but he knows she’ll resist him. He can’t risk losing her friendship. When her brother walks back into her life, causing her pain, he’s done keeping his feelings to himself. He wants her, and she’ll just have to get used to it.

Since the evening Emmett met Deja, he was smitten. He even gave her a job, friendship and made her feel almost good enough for him, because she knows he wants her for more than an employee. She also knows she isn’t good enough for the likes of a good man like Emmett. Emmett will do anything to prove her wrong, but when she needed him most to support her, no matter what, they both seemed to fail each other as he stumbles and she makes it impossible for him to regain his footing.

Sometimes all one needs is a second chance to find happiness and a place to belong, but accepting that she was deserving of the good things in life was almost impossible for Deja. Her past has been dark and tumultuous and at its very bleakest point, Deja was forced to stand on her own. Now a piece of her past is about to return after ten long years and she will do anything to rekindle the love and support that she and her brother once had and she doubts that anyone in her new life will accept the past she has kept hidden.

DESERVING YOU by Amanda Siegrist is filled with secrets, some not-so-secret and some that are kept like a wall of unnecessary protection. There is also love, between friends, family and that special romantic love, but the pain levels are off the charts! The distortions of perceptions are almost painful to read. Two people, clearly meant to be together must overcome the obstacles of the past, accept the reality of the present and take a chance on the future whiel opening their hearts to trust. Leave it to Amanda Siegrist to put her characters and her readers through the emotional wringer before giving us her signature happily ever after in her own time and in her own way! This time out, she provides more than one and she left me smiling!

I met Deja in Book II, Trust In Love and I am excited to hear her story and watch Emmet work his magic to win her over.

Deja was waiting, wishing for her sixteenth birthday so she could get the hell out of Dodge. She was sick of the shaming from her classmates. A knock on the door…and now we find ourselves HERE…with Sophie. I love how they meet. Two lost souls team up, never judging, always steadfast in their support for each other.

Sometimes I wonder why people even have kids, when they throw them away so easily. Yeah, this is a novel, but Amanda Siegrist makes her characters and situations read true.

Her brother, Dare, reenters her life. Now she has to two men that are giving her a headache. LOL Dare and Emmet. What’s a girl to do?

The McCord family’s interaction with Dare, especially Ethan’s, had me cracking up. I totally get Dare’s confusion, but seeing I know the family, it was no surprise to me. One for all and all for one.

Even though it was love at first sight, at least for Emmet, the romance was on a very slow burn. We not only get Deja’s story, but wrap on the loose ends of Sophie’s as well.

Want a sweet romance? Maybe a dash of danger? Hunkalicious men? Strong women? Look no further. This series has it all, and though I feel each story can stand alone, I highly recommend beginning at the beginning.

Heartbreaking and oh so sweet at the same time Deserving you had me going through all the emotions and I loved every second of it. Fiercely independent Deja has lived a hard life. Nothing has ever come easy for her and the world has been cruel. The only love she's ever known was that of her brother's before he was arrested. Taken in by her friend's family as one of their own, she's finally starting to accept the kindness of others. Emmett has loved Deja from the first moment they met. Keeping his feelings hidden from her in fear she would run away has been his new normal until the day her brother is released from prison.

God, Emmett was so wonderful. I couldn't get enough of him. He truly, deeply, loved Deja. His level patience, caring, and understanding were those of a saint for all he had to overcome in convincing Deja he not only loved her, but that she deserved to be loved by him. This man was put through the wringer while trying to get his woman and not once did he give up. Every woman should have an Emmett in their lives. I had a very love/hate relationship with Deja while reading this. Most of the time I loved her. She was brave, strong, and a loyal friend what's not to love? It's just the moments of complete frustration I had when she would continue fighting Emmett.

Deja loved Emmett just as much as he loved her, but she was completely terrified of love. Knowing all she's been through in life made things less frustrating while she fought her feelings, but still I occasionally wanted to shake her and yell "WAKE UP WOMAN!" Finally though, she comes to her senses and we are given a beautiful HEA that left me one happy lady!

Emmett and Deja have been serving around each other for a long time, mournful and hungry gaze and looks when neither is watching, and everyone knows how they feel about each other save them. Each is scared different reasons. He frightened he will lose her and her friendship, frightening her away by telling her how he feels. She frightened and has deep rooted concerns because of her parents. Her brother Dare is released from prison and he is as insular and insecure as she is. Life in the shade of buried feelings is damaging.
The McCords are a lot to deal with and things get said, opinions are given, but grudges are not held on to for long. Dare and Deja continue to believe that they are unworthy of love of any kind and whilst their feelings have foundation, Deja's behaviour at times is wearisome. Emmett has the patience of Job and she tests him to the limit at times and it is difficult to empathise with her. Dare has the demons but he is the more understanding of others and prepared to bend at times.
At lot of drama to deal with, but eventually Deja does begin to relax her grip on being so closed off and begins to trust people, especially Emmett enough to move forward for a happier and more contented life within a circle of welcoming family and friends. HEA outcome.

The third book in the series brings Emmett and Deja's story. It's a small town romance with tons of emotions and love. The author does a great job bringing them together through everything that comes their way. It's well written and moves fluidly with her vividly painted scenes. I loved this heartwarming story!

There was a lot of pain, sorrow, anger and fear in this story, but there was also so much love, acceptance, support, understanding and respect from family and friends. This wasn't just Deja and Emmett's story, it was Sophie's, Dare's and the whole McCord's too, their lives are so much entwined that anything that happens to one has a ripple effect for them all. My heart went out to them all reading this, and I hope that for some things will start to get much better for them and for others I hope that they will find peace and love in their futures.

Emmett and Deja are great characters. Emmett is sweet and caring.Deja has been disappointed and let down by so many people. She’s had a hard life. She’s a very strong person. There’s a lot of humorous moments between Emmett and Deja. I loved this book and devoured it in one day.

This book was an interesting book. I enjoyed the characters and how both Emmett and Deja liked each other but did not feel they were good enough for the other one. I was amazed learning about Deja's childhood and all that she and her brother had been through. I found this book to be very engaging. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Sexy small town romance with an emotional undertone

Deserving You is a sexy small town romance with an emotional undertone between a woman who has had tough luck so far in life and a man who is determined not to be shut out by her insecurities. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, although for those who have read the previous books it’s nice to see familiar faces pop up and catch up on their stories further.

Told mostly from dual point of view, Deja and Emmett have a clear attraction that both refuse to act on but are complete opposites in regard to embracing those feelings once things start heating up. Deja is one of those characters you can’t help rooting for once you truly understand her; she is strong and determined to improve her life no matter the challenges life throws her way. Emmett, as with the other McCord men, is such a sweet loveable man with a protective streak, especially when it comes to the woman he is falling for. Both characters were likeable characters that were clearly developed and I liked how the author didn’t just brush away the problems and actually dealt with the issues; they must go through a range of emotions from happiness, sadness, pain, learning to open up, and finally trust in order to love freely without guilt.

Overall, if you are looking for a romance with a little angst mixed in, definitely give this well written book (and series) a read. I enjoyed it!

The first McCord story I read and I loved every second of it. Deja and Emmett’s story is rough and tumble but meant to be. With drama on the side, and misfortune following the group around, how this group manages to find true love in all the mess is amazing.

Siegrist is turning into one of my favourites. How she interweaves her stories in such a delicate way never fails to capture the reader right from the first page. Once you pick up any of her stories, make sure you have time to binge it all at once!

Deja Wilson was bullied throughout school which cut into her self esteem badly, and if that weren't enough, her parents & brother were taken away before she was even legal, which left her completely alone. It led her to a place of committing a crime or two, but she's been given a second chance, and she won't let anything stand in the way of doing what is right. But it's very lonely with her high walls. Emmett McCord has wanted to make Deja his since the moment he saw her, but he can't seem to get past her walls of steel, so he's just had to be content with her working for him, and friendship. But when her brother comes back into her life, and hurts her deeply, he won't stay silent anymore, and he's ready to fight for her. But will she be able to convince him that she'll never be good enough for him? Deserving You was an emotional journey that had my feelings out on my sleeve. As Deja's past started to come to light, I could physically feel her pain, and understood her walls to a degree. However, her defense mode did start to get very frustrating to me after a bit. And while Emmett was a great hero, sometimes he backed off too much at times. However, the great cast of secondaries really gave this emotional story more depth, and I would love to read more about them. I do believe Amanda Siegrist has a talented writing style, as I never once put the book down until the very end, but after all of that angst, the ending was a bit too rushed for me, and that's MY OPINION! (Remember it may not be yours.) I am excited to read more of her work, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is book three in A McCord Family Novel Series and it is Deja and Emmett's story and it is definitely a must read. Omg this book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions with everything that has happened and I felt like I was there living through it all. Deja has walls that are so high built around her because of her past and she thinks that she is not worthy of love and trust is a big issue for her. Emmett has been in love with Deja from there first meeting but he kept it to himself as the friendships between them was so important to him and it was better than nothing at all but he was kind, patient, caring and I absolutely loved him but he hadn't had a easy time of it and everything that he had gone through anyone else would have thrown in the towel but not Emmett he just made sure that he was there for Deja regardless of what the problem of situation was. Wow just wow I couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting as it was so addictive and then throw in the twists and turns along the way and you have a real page turner that kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I absolutely love Amanda Siegrist book's and I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her and you will not be disappointed.

I received an e-copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you, Amanda Siegrist!

I, unfortunately, was not able to get into this book. The story did move along fluidly, and at a good pace, but I just wasn't able to connect with Deja and Emmett. I think it may be because my overall impression of Deja is that she is "cold". Not all the time, but when she attempts to besassy, she just ends up being bitchy.

In addition, the story appeared monotonous to me.Perhaps due to the fact that I wasn't pulled into the story would explain my perception of the plot. Nothing really shocked me, and it may have been because the author - who is very good at foreshadowing - foreshadowed too much. As a reader, you could tell when something was going to happen, and when It happened, you would say: "Well okay".

However, I do like the themes present in this book, of not judging a book by its cover, giving people chances to prove themselves. I think that it is an important message that was projected in an efficient way.

Deja has spent a lifetime pushing people away, reliving the painful childhood she had with her brother. Though the McCord’s make good friends, that’s all they can ever be. Even if Emmett wants more, no matter how much he’s set on trying to prove she deserves more in her life.

Emmett is someone truly special. He’s flawed and makes mistakes, but is quick to own up to them and try to set them right. He’s intent on proving to Deja her worth. Deja is a tough character to love because she refuses to believe in words or actions. The saying, ‘Put your money where your mouth is’ doesn’t quite work for her. So it’s going to take someone incredibly strong and patient to get past her walls. Overall, Deserving You is an enjoyable read that brings characters from previous books that you’ve grown to love into the story.

Deja landed a job working for Emmett McCord thanks to his brother Austin and his girlfriend Sophie. If they hadn't caught Deja breaking in she would still be on the streets. They made her their family and it felt good. But for Deja it never lasts she keeps everyone at arms length .Emmett wants Deja but he's afraid he will make her run.He has seen in her beautiful face fear and pain, and he wants to tak it away. With her brother back Deja really wants the family connection with him and he is not ready to do that. Emmett wonders were he will fit in and how he will get through to Deja. When Emmett find the nerve all bets are off. He knows she feels unworthy and he's going to change that.

I am loving this series. And I'm hoping there will be more to read in this series because I want to know more about the McCord family. Emmett was awesome. I fell in love with him immediately. He is a gentleman and he is a fierce protector. He is every woman's dream guy. But then again that could be said about all the McCord men. As for Deja she is one badass tough ass cookie. I totally get her reluctance to let Emmett in fully. Growing up as she had would do that to anyone. And I found her to be strong as steel. But even steel bends when ignited enough. And that is what Emmett does to her over time. These two are perfect for each other in every way.

This is the third book in this impressive series and is Emmett and Deja’s story. Deja is Sophie’s best friend, and she has a dark past where she was forced to stand on her own, which has left her feeling unworthy of being loved. Emmett has been smitten since the moment he met Deja, and he offered her a job and his friendship. When the past comes back to haunt Deja, will she and Emmett be able to overcome the challenges in their path? This is a well written story which is heartwarming, and with emotions, family, friendships, trust, secrets, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Ever since Deja was introduced to this series I was intrigued by her and knew there was more to her story that the angry front she puts up. It was awful how badly she was treated because of her circumstances and rumors by nasty people. Sophie and the McCords saw past all that and welcomed her into their family and her troubled brother too. Emmett was a bit of bull in a china shop in this book bumbling through their relationship, but Deja was a bit all over the place too alternating pulling him in and pushing him away. She had to believe she was worthy of love before she could accept his.

Gorgeous and engaging love story.

I really enjoyed Deja and Emmett’s story, though Deja’s inability to accept love was very frustrating at times. The addition of Deja’s brother, Dare, added depth and meaning, and watching them both find acceptance within the McCord extended family was heartwarming and satisfying. Emmett was gorgeous and it was wonderful to be immersed within the McCord family once more with this book.

This is the third story in the "McCord Family" series. This one is about Deja and Emmett. It is a heartwarming story. Deja has had a rough past and made some poor decisions. Luckily it leads to the family. She definitely suffers emotionally from her past. Emmett has always wanted Deja but never thought it would happen so he is content helping her through her journey. This is such a good read from beginning to end.
