However, the great detective has his own worries. His old enemy, Professor Moriarty, grows ever more daring, and his attempts to kill Holmes more blatant. Add Holmes’s imminent departure for the Continent, and finding Jacky’s family becomes a race against time.

Jacky is ready to embrace her future — but to do so she must confront her fear of returning to the workhouse she grew up in, and face the truth of her buried past…

About the author

I grew up in south London, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. The stories started to grow longer...and then the murders began!

I tend to write Victorian mysteries of a not-too-scary nature. I've somehow managed to have 3 separate Sherlock Holmes-themed series (why make things easy?). I also co-wrote the Caster & Fleet mystery series with Paula Harmon, and my Maisie Frobisher Mysteries series is a spinoff from that.

I write a modern cozy mystery series, Pippa Parker Mysteries, and my newest series, The Magical Bookshop, is a cozy mystery series with a touch of fantasy and magic.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🎎

This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 1 of 1.

I have listened to a number of stories by Liz Hedgecock and not been disappointed.

Jackie meets her twin sister and her father as she is getting ready to marry Tom. It is an interesting time as the story of her family comes out..

I would highly recommend this series and author to fans of Sherlock Holmes and British mystery novels. 2024

The Sherlock & Jack Chronicles is a complete series of mystery novellas, comprising A Jar of Thursday, Something Blue, and A Phoenix Rises. It is a series not to be missed if you love historical and/or Sherlock tales. I received Something Blue as a gift from the author in the fall, and I loved it but I knew I would as I adored the first short novel in the series. In Something Blue, Sherlock attempts to find any family of their friend, Scotland Yard Police Clerk Jacinth 'Jack' Day, before her marriage to Police Constable Tom Huggins. Jack was raised in the workhouse of the local orphanage and has never had family, nor generally missed having them until she realizes that no one would fill her side of the church for the wedding. Tom is her best and dearest friend, though Sherlock and Mrs. Higgins are old friends, as well. Of course, Tom's family will welcome her, but of her own family, she has no one. Maybe it's time she finds out where she came from. Left on the steps of the orphanage at only a couple of weeks old, she knows nothing of her family history or any of the important things you want to know before you contemplate having children of your own. Maybe it's too late to find her roots. Is there such a limitation when it comes to mysteries and Sherlock, however? Jacky thinks not!

What a character Jack has turned out to be. This wee story main,y focuses on Jack and finding her family, so that when she gets married her side of the church is not empty. She finds more than she expected and the things that happen to her and Holmes are exciting. Totally enjoyed this wee story. Highly recommended.

I couldn't put it down!

Usually sequels take a nosedive, but this one did the exact opposite. I finished it within a couple hours. This book was more on the serious side than the first one, and doesn't alternate between POV. Very well crafted. Definitely a nice weekend read!

I wonder if the author saw that movie The Rock? Definitely high stakes vibes going on here....

Second Helping Better than the First

“Something Blue” was even more interesting than “A Jar of Thursday”. Such an intriguing concept for Jack’s backstory! Hope the third story in this trilogy will be just as explosive.
