A trio of courageous brothers face danger and love in sixteenth-century Scotland in these three enthralling romances from a USA Today–bestselling author. The men of the Maclean Clan are fierce warriors. From the battle of Flodden Field to the waters off the Spanish Coast, they fight to protect their homes and those they love. In this spellbinding Scottish Highland series, the Maclean brothers find unexpected romance with women who heal and stir their souls. Beloved Felicia Campbell has set a plan in motion to escape her wedding to the lecherous old Earl of Morneith—but she’s interrupted when she’s abducted. Her fury turns to curiosity when she discovers her captor is the handsome Rory Maclean, her clan’s hated enemy. And Rory, who has sworn never to love again, finds himself daring to care for the fiery captive who could save his broken soul . . . Beloved Lachlan Maclean rode with King James IV of Scotland to free his country from English tyranny. In the slaughter at Flodden Field, he’s thrown from his horse and awakes to the beautiful visage of Kimbra Carlton, a border woman whose husband was killed by a Scot, leaving her to fend for her daughter alone. Now, she can neither let the wounded Lachlan die nor let anyone know his heritage. But perhaps in healing him, she may heal her own heart . . . Beloved Patrick Maclean spent years enslaved aboard a Spanish galleon. But after he leads his fellow oarsmen in an uprising, he finds himself in charge of not only the vessel but also a fetching young Juliana Mendoza, the ship owner’s niece. Juliana was bound for a wedding and a man she never wanted. But the more she comes to know Patrick and his honorable clan, the more she realizes that only she can decide her fate . . .
NOT CLEAN romance!! I’m putting that in big letters since I have people who follow my reviews.
I took a chance on these books and read them even though they are not “clean” romances. Each book is pretty formulaic and has exactly 2 sex scenes. Honestly I skipped over them and marked the beginning & end of each. They weren’t horribly explicit but still graphic. The books would have been awesome without them. The characters were engaging and I enjoyed the stories of Scotland. I just wish they had been clean.
There is much to be said, from Rory and Felicia, whose club's are constant enemies due to a curse inflicted one hundred years ago due to an ancestor of Rory's trying to kill his Campbell wife - Felicia clan. Then Lachlan, involved in the fateful Flodden Field battle that saw King James of Scotland, and so many others, killed. He has amnesia and is found and saved by an English reiver. And lastly Patrick, thought dead these many years. But has been on a slave ship as an oarsmen. Truly a great group of stories.
Loved this series!!! I was intrigued from the start and could not stopped until I read all 3.
Each of the brothers were so unique and the women they loved were as well. Just enough detail to the sexual encounters for my taste as well as suspense for each of the obstacles that they each faced to be together.
I loved this series of books.n they are very romantic, although I would have to loved knowing what Diego’s name was. In these books, disaster always turns to good long before it becomes dangerous.
My first read by this author. Three different books focussing on three different brothers. Unlike some trilogies where the first book is good and two and three sound like repeats of the same, in this each brother's story is different. Each brother's dilemna, the type of woman they like, the romance its all different. I definitely liked her style and would love to go for more
The first 2 books have very similar plots but are, nevertheless, entertaining. Good books to pass the time staying at home with the social distancing of the pandemic.
An amazing trilogy that I definitely recommend. Each book, although connected by brothers, was new and exciting. Lots of twists and turns and a happy ending. Patrick was the oldest but I must say, I enjoyed all 3 brother’s books and hope Diego gets a book soon too.
This trilogy follows the fortunes of three scottish brothers and is a nice light easy read..... I lost myself in the books and would definitely recommend them.
