Good story line for a leveled reader

Most Spanish readers have boring or mundane stories. This short novel had a little more meat to it. It was simple enough to follow the main plot, but had some new words and expressions sprinkled throughout. I give it five stars because of the added bonus of an audio version included in the purchase price. It also has summaries of each chapter, explanations of some grammatical concepts, and a comprehensive glossary. I enjoyed María Danader's writing style.

This was a pretty decent level for me, although I'm nowhere near C1. I'd consider myself striving for B2 but not quite there yet. I tried it because a lot of leveled readers are way too easy for a mid intermediate learner. This one had a few unknown words/expressions per page so I feel like it was decent for me. However, this is European Spanish so it's possible I haven't been exposed to some of the language because I've mainly studied Latin American Spanish.

The story was ...okay. Most of it is about a woman trying to get hired at a detective agency. The actual mystery only happens in the last couple of chapters and is a bit underwhelming overall. I've read a couple other leveled readers with plots that were more engaging despite simpler language. (A. C. Quintero's work come to mind, and some short stories in a random collection). I'm glad that something exists for this level when you get tired of children's books and any kind of native content for adults is just too frustrating/time consuming with the number of words you have to look up. I will probably read the other B2/C1 books in the series. The fact that it comes with audio is very useful, especially once I figured out how to move the audio to my podcast app and could speed it up to 1.2x which was perfect. The original is a bit too slow.

(3.5) This is a graded reader, so naturally the story line is a little simple, but I was honestly surprised at the quality (good). It was a very readable mystery. Was it C1? I'm not sure. Officially, my reading level is a B2 and this wasn't particularly challenging. But, it was a nice change from trying to read a "regular" novel in Spanish, and having to look up unfamiliar expressions on every other page. I got this book for almost nothing on Amazon, and would love to find similar readers at a similar price.
