She’s been a bad, bad girl. And he’ll fight all of Hell to save her.
Ava, the Sin of Greed, swore over a millennium ago she’d never cry over a man. But after her first-ever boyfriend dumps her, she’s not only crying, she’s a dead woman walking.
The devil doesn’t take kindly to one of his Seven Deadly Sins canoodling with an angel.
Though she never spilled Hell’s secrets, she’s on Lucifer’s hit list. And since his punishments tend toward the apocalyptic, she plans to run as fast and as far as possible from everyone she loves—including her closest friend, Dante—before she meets her fate.
Dante knows every inch of Ava’s delectable skin…in the dreams that burn his body while sleeping the daylight sleep of a vampire. Once they were almost lovers, and that almost still haunts him to this day. As much as her defection with a Heaven-bound hurts, he can’t ignore the siren call of the inner GPS that always draws him to her side.
Though she tries to push him away, he’s not getting her face this fight alone. But as need and desire twist together into a fuse primed for the barest spark, Dante realizes he’ll have to make a heartbreaking deal to save the only woman he’ll ever love.

This is one of those books that had me thinking, "Why didn't I think of this? Holy Hell!" Lost Wages of Sin is a fantastic read, offering everything PNR fans crave.
Ava is hard as nails, yet, hides a vulnerability she's too terrified to reveal. As far as heroes go, Dante is lick-your-fingers-after-you-touch-him YUMMY. There are so many facets to this book, all of which lead you to the next installment in the series. I, for one, cannot wait to read more (Lucifer's book -- can I have it?).
I'm able to review this quickly because I was fortunate enough to get to read this prior to release. It's that good. One of my favs by Rosalie Stanton.
Lost Wages of Sin has the kind of hero paranormal romance fans will want to eat up. Or lick. Or, hell, you’ll want him.
In addition to gorgeous attributes and sexual prowess, Dante is the guy that melts hearts. He’s a vampire who breaks rules, laughs at his own jokes and is generally badass … EXCEPT he would do anything for Ava. He loves her so deeply and is willing to risk the wrath of Lucifer and any powerful demon just for the chance to be at Ava’s side. He’ll do it without question or explanation. And he’ll do it regardless of if his feelings are returned.
Bad boy vampire hottie with a heart? Take me now, Dante. (Seriously. But don’t tell my husband.)
(Damn, I should have put that at the end, huh? You’re not even going to keep reading. You’re picturing Dante.)
Ava has lived for millennia, and for the most part, she’s kept her interactions down to just her immediate family in hell. As a Sin (a la the 7 Deadly Sins) she has abilities demons do not. She can enter consecrated ground, for example. She reports directly to Lucifer and enjoys being one of his favorites. But all that came to a crashing halt when she fell for an angel. She planned to quit and ride off into the sunset with him. She told Lucifer. Her angel never showed. Now everyone thinks she’s a traitor, and so she’s on the run. The one person she’s let know her at all, other than her brothers and sisters, is Dante. The vampire could be helpful in a pinch and, though she probably wouldn’t admit it, he has a great way of lightening the mood.
And she never guessed he was in love with her. But on the run only three days, and Dante found her. Refuses to leave her. Even after she comes clean with being a Sin, a deeply guarded secret, he wants to stay with her. And he has no problem making it clear his light sexual jokes all along were real, and he really wants to be with her. And not just because the angel got there first.
Ava is complex and strong. She’s been the good girl in hellspawn terms and now she wants the freedom to have something for herself. She has to decide if her feelings for Dante are legit, a result of a rebound or just what happens when you’re in a life-or-death situation.
Lost Wages of Sin hits all the marks: it’s about love at its core, a hero you’ll be thinking about for quite some time, great mythology and just enough sexy action to get your attention. Plus, it’s a novella; so quick read with instant satisfaction. I’ll be on the lookout for the next in this series. In the meantime, you should download the novella now.
I stumbled upon this author while #convointruding on a twitter convo about someone named Dante and him giving some good tongue loving. LOL! My interest piqued, I asked my girl Dren what book was she talking about and where can I find it!
Lost Wages of Sin was a very pleasant surprise. I started reading the book with zero expectations but ended up thoroughly enjoying it. Ava is a demon who works for Lucifer. She had the misfortune of falling for an angel named Sebastian. Her relationship with an angel doesn't sit well with the big boss and jeopardizes Ava's career and life. Dante is Ava's long time friend. They hang out, kick demon ass together, but little does Ava know, Dante has the serious hots for her. With Ava running for her life, Dante is by her side and seizes the opportunity to tell her how he truly feels.
Dante is a well-written character. He's a vampire, so of course he's gorgeous and sexy. But what makes him endearing is his sense of humor and his loyalty to Ava. I love stories about friends who become lovers. I think they are so romantic and cute! And the basis of any lasting relationship is friendship.
I loved the banter and dialog between Dante and Ava. Both are hilarious and sarcastic. When Ava decides to finally let down her guard and have some sexy time with Dante, the story quickly went from humorous and cute to hot and sexy. And I now understand why Dante's tongue was getting so much air time over twitter. There's even a hashtag for it: #DanteTongueLove. Woot!
Lost Wages of Sin was a great read. Rosalie Stanton packed a lot into a little over 100 pages. The story was filled with wonderful characters, great plot and dialog. I loved the other characters that were introduced: Ava's sisters, Sebastian, Lucifer and Big J. I can't wait to read more about them. Ava is definitely a heroine that can hold her own and I LOVE that!
Lost Wages of Sin is a light and funny paranormal romance with memorable characters and hot, steamy sex (tongue loving FTW!). I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.
4 Stars Exciting Debut of Sinners and Saints Series
Lost Wages of Sin is book 1 in an exciting new series entitled Sinners and Saints that hit the stores this April. Rosalie Stanton is an author who knows exactly what she wants to convey to her readers and does it with style, humor and red hot passion that leaves the reader wanting more of where her stories come from. Having loved two contemporary romances by the author before, I knew that Rosalie Stanton wouldn't disappoint me even if this is the very first paranormal/fantasy romance by hers that I have tried out.
Lost Wages of Sin is centered around Avaritia (Ava) who signifies "greed" in the seven Sins that Lucifer himself controls in order to tempt mankind into succumbing to the throes of Hell fire. Six thousand years old, Ava herself has never succumbed to what she is, though she has remained a faithful servant of Lucifer until she meets an angel who turns her life upside down and makes her yearn for something that has always been out of reach until now.
Before Ava knows it, she has been betrayed in the worst way possible and is on the run for her life from everything that is familiar and she holds dear. When she encounters Dante, sin incarnate and her friend for the past seven hundred years, Ava knows that she is not strong enough to say no to the heated looks that Dante keeps sending her way, making her want to give all of herself to a vampire who signifies everything that a woman ought to need in this life.
Dante who has been in love with Ava ever since she stumbled across him in his hour of need knows that he is willing to take whatever it is that Ava would give to him. When an unexpected kiss between the two opens up the flood gates of desire that both Ava and Dante have been keeping in check for centuries, Dante knows that there would be no turning back, not for him anyway. With a unique take on Christianity that lends the story an extra interesting facet, Lost Wages of Sin is a book not to be missed for fans of fantasy/paranormal romances.
What grabbed me most about this novel is of course Dante whose utter devotion and love for Ava shines through each and every single one of his actions. Though when compared to Ava in strength and physical abilities Dante falls short, nevertheless he never hesitates to put himself on the line for the love of his life and each and every single time he confesses his love for Ava to hear nothing of that nature in return just made me bleed for him a little. Let me not forget the banter between Dante and Ava that serves to be as much of a turn on as the actual scenes of intense hotness that Rosalie has down to a pat, the scene in the alley being my favorite!
As one reviewer has already pointed out, its hard to identify who the bad guys are, and I found myself just as fascinated with Lucifer's character as I was with Dante's towards the end. The hardest part is going to be waiting for each of the books in this series to come out, and maybe finally, reach a happily ever after for Lucifer himself? Well, a gal can always hope!
I finish off my review with a glimpse into the explosive scene that takes place between Ava and Dante that serves to be one of the hottest scenes in the story.
This book was almost a DNF for me. Almost. It had everything I normally go for in a book. Paranormal….check. Female who can stand on her own…check. Ava was definitely what I would classify as a kick ass chick. Being Lucifer’s right hand man woman with a unimaginable amount of power. Unimaginable because no one is supposed to know she and her brothers and sisters even exist. Hot…smokin hot…. vampire, pain in females ass…check. Dante. Wow. I did love him from the moment he sauntered onto the scene. All cocky backtalk and steel banded chest of rippling awesomeness. Ava got plenty of barbs of her own in though. Together there was lots of snarkiness. And me being a huge snark, loved that too.
I also enjoyed the play on the story of Lucifer and God. Rosalie’s take on it was fun and much more lighthearted then Christianity would have you believe. Lucifer and the big kahuna in the sky having coffee? Sure, why not. A game of chess? Absolutely. Actually Lucifer is kind of painted as a big softie. Well, as big a softie as LUCIFER can get anyway. I enjoyed him. And honestly, the big kahuna? Kinda a unforgiving jerk. That’s it, my seat next to the lake of fire is secure now I’m sure. Can I at least bring sunscreen?
The sex? Why yes please, can I have some more? There were a lot of sex scenes. Or maybe it was just one huge one. It wouldn’t be a erotic romance without those. They were extremely good sex scenes. Lots of details so you know exactly what is going on at all times. They were melt your panties into a liquid puddle HOT. Ava and Dante literally sizzled. Go ahead..listen, you might still hear it!Sometimes I get the feeling that authors are throwing in scenes just to get to more sex. I didn’t feel that with this book at all. The plot was a constant and it did flow in good order.
The part that got me was that it took so long to get anywhere. Now I had a print copy so I can’t be sure where in the e-version this would fall. To me it felt like not much happened until about the half way mark. The writing was extremely long winded and very descriptive (other then the sex of course). Some readers LOVE that. I mean, look at Stephanie Meyer. That woman can talk about a tree for 5 chapters. She is now a bajillionaire. I just can’t connect that way. So unfortunately I had a hard time getting to that half way mark. Once Dante realized his feelings for Ava and she acknowledged, begrudgingly, hers, the book picked up some speed.
The only other bad thing I could comment on would be that Lost Wages Of Sin felt like something I had read before. I mean, several somethings. Once you have read as many paranormal romances as I have it’s hard not to make comparisons or see similarities. This felt like a mix of Larissa Ione and Jennifer Turner (off the top of my head). So if the book failed for me in any way it was in failing to give me something new.
So getting to that half way mark was a turning point for me. No the writing didn’t change at that point but the feeling and essence of the book did. At least for me. I was able to finally engage and invest in these characters lives. So for a rocky start it ended decently well indeed.
I give Lost Wages Of Sin by Rosalie Stanton 3.50 stars!
*Its 4 ½ stars...I hate goodreads for its rubbish whole number review system!
Ava has done the unthinkable by falling in love with an Angel. Greed personified, she one of Lucifer’s most deadly and secret weapons, one of the seven deadly Sins. When a Bishop has a crisis of faith, Lucifer sends along one of his big hitters (i.e. Ava) to try to tempt him over to the dark side. Unfortunately, Big J has done the same by sending Sebastian, a hot Guardian Angel, to try to protect his faith. Sebastian and Eva fall in a big way, but they know that their respective employers won’t allow them to be together. Ava hands in her 2 weeks’ notice to Lucifer, which he grudgingly accepts, because Sebastian is doing the same. She didn’t suspect that, supposedly higher being Sebastian, is a big spineless wimp. When faced with the true consequence of becoming one of the fallen, he begs forgiveness from God, and returns to the fold, leaving Ava high and dry. Ava now has a massive problem. She no longer is guilty of falling in love with an inappropriate man and mating him, she is guilty of telling Hell’s secrets to a Guardian Angel. This carries the penalty of death, leaving her estranged from her siblings and fighting all of Hell for her life. Enter the delectable Dante, a Vampire that has been her go-to guy for 700 hundred years. He doesn’t know what Ava actually is, only that she isn’t purely demon, and that he needs to protect her. He travels across the country when he hears that she is trouble and does everything to protect her. In 700 years he has never wanted anyone more than her and he’ll be damned if he doesn’t do everything to protect her from all of hell itself.
Wow wow wow...Dante is HOT! Had that out of the way, now let’s get on with the review: D
I was sent this e-book to review by the author. That hasn’t influenced the review in any way, but I’m so glad that she did. This book was a fabulous mixture of fantasy, erotica and comedy. The world building was fabulous, although the mythology gave a lot of knowledge to absorb. I love fantasy worlds that are built on Myth and Legend, but every first book in a series, its harder to read than its successors will be, as it takes time to get absorbed into this uber different world. In this reality, Heaven and Hell are active participators in the world at large. Both sets of minions reside mainly on their home turf, but they like to come down to Earth to try to interfere with the daily lives of the mere mortals around them. Ava and the rest of the Sins (we meet Lust and Envy also in this book), are Super-beings. Born from the imagination of a devout Christian and created in flesh by Lucifer himself, they do not follow the normal rules that govern the rest of demon-kind; they can enter even consecrated turf. When the Bishop has his little meltdown, Lucifer didn’t only send a Sin because he needed a big hitter, he sent a sin because said Bishop was in a church!
Dante and Ava are one hot little couple...when they finally get it on! They have both been attracted to each other for centuries, but neither will admit it to themselves or the other. Dante doesn’t like feeling so much for one person. She is the only female he has allowed into his life for an extended period, and he just doesn’t want to screw it all up. She is his best friend and he doesn’t want her to be another roll in the hay. She’s the challenge he never wanted, yet when he hears she is in trouble, and why, he drops everything to speed across the country toward her. Ava may not respond to him outwardly, yet she recognises how yummy he is. At one point she describes him as “a bit too perfect” but she knows his reputation and won’t give her virginity to just anybody.(Side note here- The author describes all Vampires as good looking and states that it is a bit like natural selection, as the more handsome a Vamp the more neck he gets. I was hooked, but then got to wondering how this would be the case unless vampirism directly altered the genes in some way?) Considering that she is one of the devils ultimate weapons, she had a serious amount of personal beliefs and morals (I liked that this was a job to her, not a way of life). Dante had gone a long way to proving that he could be trusted with her secrets; he was her only constant in life. Trusting him with her heart when she had witnessed all the broken ones he had following in his wake? He had to do a bit more than be a good friend! When he protects her from evil, stays with her so she isn’t alone, threatens a being straight from the mouth of hell to protect her and refuses to allow her to surrender to her fate? Getting there :D
Overall, I loved this book. It was funny in quite a buffy-esque way, the pace was high and the mythology had a twist which was very creative. I loved the characters; from the romantic interests to the sisters they were all likeable, yet flawed characters that kept my interest and made me want more (I cannot wait to meet the male Sin’s). I enjoyed the twists and turns that kept me guessing and the thought of Lucifer being a surrogate father was quite fun (although he sounds hot!). The sex scenes were SMOKING....I want a Vampire :)There were some parts where it felt there was a bit too much telling rather than showing, but for the majority the writing was fabulous. A series I will be continuing so I recommend you pick it up too.
So last week I played #convoinvader on Twitter. Author, JA Sare was tweeting praise about a book she just read that was written by her critique partner, Rosalie Stanton. So of course my interest was IMMEDIATELY piqued. I love Author-to-Author love so I head on over to Goodreads.com and read the blurb. Shortly thereafter, I let my mouse do the shopping and BOOM! Chessiebomb's got a new book. Then the fun starts....
After a painful breakup with an angel, Ava is running for her life, trying to stay one step ahead of her former employer -- Lucifer. What once appeared to be a grand event - Ava turning a fallen angel now looks like Ava's shared hell's secrets with the enemy. She goes into hiding until she can figure a way to clear her name to get back into Lucifer's good graces.
Enter Dante. Long time friend and vampire playboy shows up to help. Ava is completely oblivious that Dante's attracted to her. "Shut up," she snapped. Then she captured his cheeks between her hands and brought his mouth crashing down upon her own. And all thought of the collection box or the demon in the black robes vanished. Dante moaned, his demon receding, all fight abandoning him as his body seized what it wanted above all else. Ava was against him. Ava's lips molded to his. Ava." While I've noticed a increasing trend on "Angel & Demon" themed books, I'm happy to say that Lost Wages of Sin is taste of something different. Stanton has done an excellent job creating a story that strikes down the traditional line of thinking that "demons are bad, angel are good." The underlying layers of the relationship between Lucifer and "Big J" are so subtle that it doesn't insult religious senses. It's really unique and crafty storytelling!
In the beginning of the story, Ava and Dante are the perfect Non-Couple. They snark at each other. They fight like *pow-pow* with each other and they've always got each other's back when fighting their enemies. But the pressures of trying to clear Ava's name brings them closer than either of them ever expected. Soon their relationship shifts from friendly banter to smexy faster than a New York Minute.
Title: Lost Wages of Sin: Sinners and Saints: Book 1 Author: Rosalie Stanton Publisher: Liquid Silver Books Publication Date: 2011 ISBN: 978-1-59578-824-5 Genre: paranormal romance Length: 117 Heat Level: sensual Other: oral Reviewer: Brecken Stevens Date: July 19, 2011
Ava is in a pickle. She shouldn’t have fallen for an angel, shouldn’t have shared her secret about being one of Lucifer’s embodied sins, and probably just shouldn’t have gotten out of bed that morning. On the run from demons and her former overlord Ava turns to Dante, a vampire and old friend for help and support. Always just buddies, she’s shocked when Dante reveals how much he cares for her and how much she reciprocates. With hell itself after them, Ava and Dante might not have the time they need to figure out just where they’re headed.
Ms. Stanton has a very creative little world going on here. I love the embodiment of the sins concept-lots of fun possibilities there. Dante and Ava are fantastic characters and I loved being their cheer leader as the story went on. It’s always tricky to write stories like this because the back story has been done in hundreds of different ways. I didn’t love the back story of hell and heaven in this one. It just hit on a few points I personally didn’t love because of my faith. Readers looking for a love story will find it here along with the start of a series that is sure to be a lot of fun.
If you love demons, vampires, cosmic battles, romance, laughter and well written stories you should totally give this book a read. I seriously can't praise this book enough. Rosalie Stanton is my favorite up and coming paranormal romance author, but this book is a work of art from start to finish. With a great romance, there needs to be good chemistry between the characters and Ava and Dante are AMAZING together. I love couples that can banter back and forth and Ava and Dante certainly are good at that. But my favorite part of Lost Wages of Sin is the universe Rosalie has created with Lucifer, Big J. and the Seven Deadly Sins. I love the way that Rosalie takes the Christianity story that we've all been raised with and makes it exciting, fresh and new. I never thought I'd develop a crush on Satan himself, but by the end I'm trying to figure out who are the bad guys and who are the good. The hardest part will be waiting for the next in the Sinners and Saints series to come out!
Summarizing this book in a paragraph is a daunting challenge. The story is so rich, so vibrant, that it defies explanation - to read this one is to walk the streets of Natchez, to feel Ava's fear and heightened emotions. It's to look in the eyes of Dante and see every wicked inclination, every desire, every unbelievably sexy, torrid thought, and beg for more. His love for Ava is so profound it will make your own chest tighten, the sex so hot your pulse will race. You can't help but experience every breath of this tale - lazy and hurried ones alike - and by the time it's over, you've lived it. Rosalie Stanton has an unbelievable ability to fuse humor, heat, and passion into her stories, and LOST WAGES does not disappoint. A MUST READ!
Not bad. The sex scenes were excellent, decent plot, a great many sub-characters and a meta narrative that will play out for quite some time. An excellent beginning. (Free copy from Voracious Readers).
Very entertaining read. I enjoyed the sarcasm between Ava and Dante. That Ava is one of the Seven Deadly sins was a very interesting twist. Review is going up at the Erotic Blog :D
So far this book is da bomb. I was so impressed right from the first page. I've only gotten through a chapter and a half so far but I'm already looking for more from this author!
In this the first in the Sinners and Saints series Ms. Stanton gives us an erotic look at the seven deadly sins in human form. She also humanizes Jesus and Lucifer and refers to them as the Big J and Luc. I had to throw out everything that I ever learned in Sunday school to read this story. I have to say that it was interesting, sensual and very erotic. I guess you could say it isn’t for the faint of heart or anyone who can’t think outside of the box.
Ava is greed…Dante is a vampire who has been in love with Ava for a very long time. You could say he had an ethereal love for her. That shared first kiss…well, let me just say that it is breathtaking. The chemistry is there underlying and not to be forgotten. It helps in adding an extra element in making things seem more realistic. As an added bonus Ava may not have had a lot of in-depth sex but Dante soon shows her things that, let’s just say heat the pages up. Ava soon becomes very loyal to Dante and simply adores him.
I enjoyed the great dialogue between these two as it only helped add to realism of the story with their banter back and forth. I also found that the characters were all well written and easy to relate to. The emotions that went through the story were real.
You grow up learning the difference of good and evil… and that Jesus is the good guy and Lucifer is the bad guy…but… I really enjoyed this different take. I can’t wait for the next of the deadly sins to show up.
A friends-to-lovers paranormal romance with a very intriguing concept … 3.5 stars
This is a well written, friends-to-lovers paranormal romance. It has a very unique concept – the Seven Deadly Sins embodied in human form existing with other notable Hell-dwellers – Hell Demons, Lilith (the mother of vampires) and Lucifer to name a few. The characters are well defined and engaging. There’s some angel & demon mythology along with intrigue, action and humour, plus several very steamy scenes between Ava (the Sin of Avarice) and Dante, her steadfast vampire companion. The primary plot dilemma – Ava’s troubles with Lucifer seemed to take forever to resolve – to the point that I felt it had lost some of its importance when all was said and done. While I enjoyed the originality of this story, I found it to be slow moving at times and overall a bit too wordy. Perhaps that’s due in part to the fact that this is the first book in the series and there were many characters to be introduced.

This is my 1st read and review for this author and this story is a great start in getting to know her work, I love stories like this where demons fall in love with angels and that’s what Ava did. Ava is the sin of greed she’s one of the seven deadly sins, she’s given up on men since her last lover dumped her but she has more pressing problems now that she knows that Lucifer is out to kill her because she had an affair with an angel so now she’s on the run. Ava runs into Dante an ex lover of hers but Fante has never forgotten Ava and the way he feels about her, now he will do anything to save the love of his life even sacrifice himself. I loved this story I had a good laugh and the chemistry between Ava and Dante is super hot and so are the sex scenes. A fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This book grabbed me from the first page. Great storytelling with fabulous characters. I am so glad to have found this book, especially since it is the start of a series. I look forward to delving further into this world. Happy to have found a new author to follow, as well. Give this one a shot. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find. Happy reading! :D

you'd think this is my jam - Ava is strong and delicious. i tend to like verbose prose, it's how i connect to stories. Stanton does it in a way that's just...fake...she seems to go on endlessly because she either doesn't know what she is saying or she thinks that's what sells
idk seems like the writer is bored with her own story.
I don't need a well written story but at the very least it needs to feel like the author enjoyed writing it
She is so bad as she broke one of the deadly wins as she fell for an angel which was so against the devil. Now she is in so much trouble and she needs to get away. He is a vampire and he will not let her make her stand alone. Follow them as they face the devil

Similar vibe at first to Dark Immortals it peaked my interest. However, the stakes were not clear (pun possibly intended). Most of the relationship building and story takes place before the book and we're told more than shown with extended sex scenes that could have been allocated to adding to the story
this story was very unique I don't want to give away any plots or endings so let me just say, well written, very good characters and I enjoyed this story very much

This book is a good start of the series that is a paranormal storyline that is intriguing. The characters are strong and engaging. I do appreciate reading this book.
Ava and her siblings are Lucifer’s secret weapons. It's their job to spy for the Prince of Lies. Ava is good at following orders, until she falls in love with an angel. She finally realizes that trusting him was a mistake when he leaves her high and dry after learning what consequences could await. Ava only found out about her angel’s flight of shame – as in back upstairs with his wings between his legs – after she had already quit her job. Now she needs to hide and her only ally is the too hot to handle vampire Dante, who has been her informant for longer than she can remember. Will Ava be able to trust and love again? I’m no fan of giving away too much in the recap, but I probably should tell you that there’s more to Ava than my synopsis let on. She served a specific purpose. Stanton managed to keep me interested from page 1 til the end. I found it very refreshing that she gave her story a humorous touch. It was funny and I got more than just a few chuckles out of it. I also picked up on the modern elements she used for her world building. For example, Ava didn’t “abandon her calling by leaving her master” - no, she “handed her resignation to her boss”. Same meaning, different phrasing. Stanton combined something paranormal and unknown with aspects of our everyday life with great ease. I soon felt like I knew my way around this world. Ava was an awesome heroine. Throughout the book she struggled to differentiate between what defined her as an employee and who she was as a person. The crash landing she had to endure with angel Sebastian would’ve put a damper on my mood too. I felt for her and of course understood why she wasn’t a happy camper at first about Dante showing up and disturbing her peace….worse than that, trying to help her. The gall! ;-) Loved that she tried to downplay her despair by making funny remarks. She’s sure Lucifer wanted her head, for Sebastian most likely blabbed to Big J about how she’s different. With the always flirting eye candy that was Dante in the picture (and boy I’d so put that picture up on my wall above the bed) she had her work cut out for her. Sigh. Hmmm, Dante was just – HOT. Had to fan myself over and over again because of immediate danger of spontaneous combustion. Holy mofu he was one sexy VILF. On top of that he clearly was scared of rejection, which catapulted him to the top of my favorite PNR heros list. His clumsy way of showing her he cared pulled at my heartstrings. What I didn’t like about this book was the lack of a plot with more depth. In all fairness, this is a preference of mine and surely wouldn’t bother everyone. With the fantastic humor I expected it to be more suspenseful and that… it sadly just wasn’t. Stanton could’ve put more effort into creating a bad ass villain to balance out a certain plot twist that caught me off guard. Be prepared! Also, I would’ve had nothing against a little more ‘do’ and less ‘talk’ from Dante. (Aside from him doing Ava - that technique he had down pat.) Finishing the book I was left with one question: Has there ever been a book with Lucifer himself as the protagonist? 4 stars to Lost Wages of Sin by Rosalie Stanton. Read it and you’ll know how I came up with the question.
Beware of Spoilers! A few of my favorite quotes for those of you who are interested: ° “Are you just gonna small-talk me to death or did you want a good seat?” ° “Too bad they didn’t wipe the floor with you. Your ego’s due for a downgrade.” ° “Dante waggled his eyebrows and blew her a kiss. Not exactly on par with his ‘show her your softer side’ plan, but some habits were hard to break.” ° “I don’t get you sometimes […] Well, a lot of the time. You’re a complete jackass…” ° "Kiss the dangerously sexy vampire to distract him from certain doom. Why, yes, that does seem to be the only option.”
Ava is one of the Seven Deadly Sins – her and her six siblings report directly to Lucifer. Ava likes who she is – but then she met an Angel, Sebastian and fell in love. Or so she thought. Ready to give up everything for him, her Angel finds out who she really is and flees back up to Big J. Now Lucifer thinks she is a traitor and Ava runs, afraid of what the consequences will be.
Not sure where to go or what to do, she runs into long-time friend, and vampire, Dante. Dante has always been there to listen to her, and for a long time Dante has lusted after Ava, but has never seen any feelings in return. Feeling lost and a bit desperate, Ava spills her secrets to Dante. They form a bond of trust, as Ava decides she must summon Sebastian back to finish their business. But there are others demons working for Lucifer that want a chance to prove themselves sinful.
What I like most about Lost Wages of Sin is the banter between Dante and Ava.They love to give each other a hard time and be very sarcastic. Dante falls fast and hard for Ava, and once he convinces Ava to move past her sorrow over Sebastian and into his bed, the reader is treated to very numerous and long erotic scenes. Although Ava is very, very old, she has only had Sebastian as a lover – so Dante takes his time to teach her things. Although they both have a wicked tongue, he turns out to be a very sweet guy.
I really enjoyed their relationship and subsequent romance in this one. I did have a problem with the world building. Honestly, I was confused for quite awhile. It was hard for me to grasp onto exactly onto all the rules of the world. There are many details about what Ava is, and why she is now an outcast to Lucifer, and how Sebastian betrayed her and the role of other demons and her six siblings. It was all a little too much for me to take. It hampered down my reading experience somewhat.
Otherwise, the dialogue in this one is entertaining and the romance is very hot.
For everyone that's fallen in love hard and fast, only to discover the object of your affection is not who you thought they were, you're not alone.
Ava, one of Lucifer's seven deadly sins, has committed the gravest faux pas an agent of hell can—she falls in love with, quits her job over, and then gets dumped by an angel! Who saw that coming, right?
Ava's mistake has cost her dearly. Turning an angel would have been a coup in hell, but getting dumped by one after sharing her identity and job puts her on every demon's most wanted list as a traitor instead. In order to buy some time, (and hopefully soften Lucifer's anger) she travels from city to city, settling somewhere no one will find her.
She thinks she's managed to step off the grid, but her longtime vampire friend Dante tracks her down—and he's been into her for centuries. Ava has no clue how he feels. Until he learns who she really is and still refuses to leave her side. Her ex angel streaked for the skies, but not Dante.
Ava feels something for Dante, but with her volatile family situation, shaken self-confidence and uncertain heart, can she trust her new feelings? Dante understands Ava's fears and decides to convince her of his dedication. And oh does he convince her. Dante's a little chatty when he gets his busy on, but he did such a great job of showing Ava what he meant, I believed with all my heart!
I loved this novel. I'm not one to read novellas, but this book is so well written I actually forgot I was reading a short story. Solid world building supported a cast of likeable, sexy characters that made you want to root for them (or become Dante's next meal—what a sexual appetite…oh la la!)
If you're looking for a great, entertaining, erotic read, you'll love LOST WAGES OF SIN!

Ava is a solder for Lucifer, one of his favorites. So when she fell for an angel he was proud, but that quickly faded. Once word got out her angel tucked tail and ran back to the pearly gates Ava knew that there would be roomers, but what she didn't expect was the death sentence that would come as the result of them. Dante had known Ava for century's and had loved her from the moment they first met and she saved him. Dante played the role of friend for centuries hoping she would notice him, but when he finds out after all his waiting she decides to through in with an angel of all things, he decides he has to find her and help her. But once she kisses him all bets are off he is demented to show her all of himself . But it may wind up killing him one way or another. This was a good story; it was short sweet and had very likeable characters. I always like stories about Lucifer and this one was no different. The story starts out very average but blossoms towards the end. The world that is created here is imaginative and fun. I like the idea of the seven sins being Lucifer’s pet children, it’s different. Its fun a bit snarky and keeps you entertained the whole book. There are plenty of hot sexy scenes, Dante is uber sexy and you can’t help but lust after him. You can feel the connection between Ava and Dante very intensely. At first I going to rate it a 3.5 but thinking back I was so sucked into it at times. I couldn't put it down. There is nothing super extraordinary about the story it’s really the character that suck u into the story with out you knowing it.
