Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
Another wonderful book by one of my favorite authors. Enjoyed this book as much as the first two. The storyline was good, the characters played their parts well and the romance was sweet. JudyE
When Amelia’s abusive “parents“ leave her at the river across without her Eli has had enough. Throughout the whole wagon train ride he is seeing them do nothing but work her to death and starve her and he’s fed up. Taking her into his camp with the rest of the wagon train crew she becomes part of the family helping out wherever she can and making herself irreplaceable in the family Ian and Eli‘s heart. I almost gave this book 3 stars because Eli did the thing that makes me cringe he would constantly pick up Amelia as if she was a child and carry her or move her never ask him just picking her up he would pick her up and put her on his lap and there’s something so cringing about that. I think said that the story is sweet and I really enjoyed it with the exception of when the wagon train was being attacked he said he loved her and put her under the wagon train and of course she was a crack shot killing 21 Indians, but after they attack the fact they said it was never mentioned again. Now that I said that I will say the story was sweet and I read the whole book
This was the third book in the Oregon Trail Dreamin' series and it featured returning characters. As each of his brothers has had their turn at leading a wagon train to Oregon, and upon marriage has retired to become full-time ranchers/husbands/fathers, this was Jed's opportunity. His years of looking for Lily, who was captured by the Indians in Book 1, finally were successful. While Jed was ecstatic in finding Lily, not everyone in the wagon train was so pleased. Their reactions to Lily were as expected and this part of the story was well developed. There was, however, an added twist that, while reasonable, seemed to come late in the story. In my opinion this element could have been better constructed. Any foundation seemed thrown together and lacked sufficient resolution. It was good to see Smitty fulfilling his usual role and get to know Rex and Owen, leaving a door open in the event the author wishes to continue the series. It was a good book, but I just think the storyline could have been a bit better developed.
3.75/5 In the continuing storyline from the first book in the series, Lily has been found. Instead of being welcomed with open arms, those in the wagon caravan have made certain assumptions about Lily. Add that to mysterious raids and stabbings and it's an exciting ride.
“Lily, it’s me, Jed Todd.” Still there was silence. “Lily, I was on the wagon train when you were taken by the Indians. I’ve been searching high and low for you ever since.”
“I know this might sound stupid but please don’t go to the river alone.” He held up his hand. “Let me speak. It broke my heart when you were taken, and I know you can defend yourself now, but I can’t have a lump in my throat every time I see you near the water. Just for a few weeks at least. Please?”
“Well, you gone and done it,” Smitty said. “You broke that man’s heart.” He shook his head."
I’ve loved reading this series of books. Ms. Ball has done an excellent job! With the characters and the plots.
I.ve loved reading this series of books and forward to this next, hopefully, not last one. Ms. Ball has done an excellent job with the characters and the plots. I enjoy reading clean books. I realize sex sells millions of books and multitudes of individuals love reading all of the details. Thank you Ms. Ball for having the integrity to write books for those of us who don’t enjoy reading sexually explicit books! I’m very appreciative of your writing skills. Thank you, Bea
A Love Worth Searching For Oregon Trail Dreamin', Book 3 : Kathleen Ball
A clean historical western fiction. There is plenty of mystery, adventure, and romance. There are culprits with the wagon train, but what are they really up to? Will the group make it to Oregon without losing anyone? This listen will keep you listening to find out.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Holly Holt brought the characters to life.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
There's were several years in between books 2 & 3, but I remembered enough to make sense of the story! The narration was good with different voices, but could use a bit more flow with conversations. When several people were talking right after each other it was hard to distinguish who was speaking, so the author should consider more of He said, and she replied additions in future audiobooks! But I enjoyed the story and felt so bad for her "welcome" back to white society!
Lilly and Jed were just kids when she was captured by the Sioux on a trip to Oregon, but he never stopped looking for her in his years traveling the trail leading wagons to Oregon. Finally she is found, but neither are prepared for the prejudice they will face as Jed bring her back to the wagon train he is currently Captain of. Action packed, drama filled days will follow them as they continue on to Oregon. Along the way, her heart finds its home.
This whole series is a time period journey. All of the characters, storyline developed nicely. The journeys this author takes you on, the twists, turns, mystery is awesome. Must read. Although you could read this in none order you would be doing yourself a disservice and missing all of the characters.
Why did I choose this rating!? Because it was exciting, the story was so wonderful and true to the times as well as the prejudice of the people. Don't we still have plenty of that. I would not hesitate to recommend this book nor the author to anyone. It was an exciting and wonderful book.
I must say that I am so impressed and pleased with Kathleen Ball's writing. I have greatly enjoyed each and every book by her that I have had the opportunity to read. Her stories are so well crafted that I always hate to see them end. I definitely recommend her books!
A great story that left me wondering about somethings. Lots of excitement. If you have read the previous stories you will pleased to see familiar characters. If not you will still enjoy this one.
This was a great book. A part of a trilogy that will stick with me a long time. Honest and truely an amazing read. Thank you to Kathleen Ball for putting these books out there.
True love, forever love, and yet bad things happen to good people! Very realistic book, not sugar coated at all. Kidnapped, found, rejected, in love! Attempted murder more than once. You won't want to put the book down.
Another wonderful story about the Todd Brothers who lead a wagon train to ORegon. The youngest brother continues his search for a young girl captured two years prior by the Sioux. She is all grown up now and this is their story!
Great story about traveling the Oregon Trail, and how foolish and self-centered some people can be. The characters were portrayed well, and some kept me guessing until the end what they were about.
I liked the fact that Jed did not give up on his love of Lilly. The story had a great many inconsistencies and became unbelievable after a time. The story line was intriguing it it did not deliver.
I love this series. I was hoping that you wrote a book where Jed found Lily. Just wished that they were a little sexier. Are going to continue the series or start a new one. I really enjoyed all 3 books. Great work.
Again Ms Ball has captured the love of the west! I had downloaded a map of the Oregan Trail and enjoyed traveling with the train! Anyone who enjoys these books needs to do so. Independence Rock to the Blue Mountains, nicely captured.
So glad Jed finally found Lily, the girl who had been kidnapped in book 1. Unbelievable that humanity is lost when you should be caring about humans. Another great read
It is so great to be able to read a fantastic historical romance without all the explicit sex! This is my 4th book by MS. Ball and I plan to keep on reading! Thank you
So much greed makes people crazy. They do things they normally wouldn't do. Another great action romance book. I don't like to spoil the book so only other thing I can say is Must Read!!!
This was excellent; she portray’s the hardships of traveling the Oregon Trail so well. This story was very moving; I couldn’t put it down. Well done. BEL51
Third book in the series and again I could not put it down once started. A happy ending at last for Jed and Lilly. I think this is the best of the three in the series so far.
