Dark Enemy

Rate this book
Holly Adams is in over her head.

Her job as cyber threat analyst for the CIA might test her well-honed skills, but when her cousin goes missing, the threats get personal. Fast. The Russian Mafia has kidnapped Holly’s cousin. They make it clear they plan to sell her on the sex slave market.

The Russians have a single demand. If Holly wants to see her cousin ever again, she must scrub any evidence of their top operative from the CIA database. But Holly fears the Russian mobsters plan something far more sinister than just selling her cousin to the highest bidder.

Alone and afraid, she has no choice but to seek help from the one man she’s tried to forget.

Logan Williams may be new to DARC Ops, but he's a man who gets things done.

For Logan, blood and sweat is nothing more than another day on the job. Danger is part of his nine to five. Tough work and impossible odds keep him from missing any sort of personal life. That is, until the woman from his past shows up, terrified and begging for help.

Holly Adams.

The one woman who haunts his dreams. Years ago, they parted ways. An agonizing decision he thought would protect her. But he swore he'd be there if she ever needed him, and he’s a man of his word.

His mission: First off, he will keep Holly safe. Second, he will keep it professional.
One slip and he could lose the only woman he’s ever loved...

Dark Enemy can be read standalone and contains no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a happily ever after, guaranteed.

I loved this book we get to see a few faces of our beloved characters like Jackson, Tansy, Mathis but this is Logan’s story.
Logan is a sniper with well basically a very impatient nature. When we first meet him he is on a mission in Mexico trying to save some kids from a traffickers, but his impatience and the fact that he disobeyed orders almost gets him killed. Jackson kicks his butt and this leaves Logan wondering if DARC Ops is really for him, he’s about to make a hasty decision when he receives a phone from a special someone from his past, asking for help. This is where Holly comes into the picture she is working as a CIA analyst after being caught hacking the government. (Yes Tansy’s type of girl) Holly’s cousin has been taken by a Russian man involved in human trafficking of sex slaves. Now from here on I could tell you all the spoilers but I won’t let’s just say that Holly gets the help she needs from the DARC Ops boys and Logan that there are lots of twists and turns and I know were Logan got his impulsive behaviour from. There are of course some steamy scenes and a possible HEA.
The book is part of the DARC Ops series but it can be read as a stand-alone story. I’ve fallen in love with all of these boys so far and can’t wait to see who the next book is going to be about. I love the way Jamie can immerse us in the world of the DARC Ops boys and at the end of the day any of these events could possible happen or have happened. Who knows it’s something we will never know. I did receive this book as an arc read and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.

Third-POV is so chaotic and messy. It also comes with a lot of inner-monologue and storytelling, which bores me to death. Book needs some editing too.

There is zero chemistry between MMC and FMC. They could have been just colleagues, or some old friends. Certainly not lovers.

Logan parkedthe car a block away from her headquarters, turned off the engine, and looked over to Holly with the hope that it wouldn’t be the last time. When she finally smiled, he said, “I don’t know, Kiddo. I don’t like it.”

“No one’s supposed to like it,” she said. “But I won’t get caught. I promise.”

Logan couldn’t help but laugh about her promise. She had promised a lot of things over the years, most of them coming true. But this latest promise sounded a little too shaky.

He couldn’t let her go like that. He couldn’t let so many lives, and perhaps a relationship, depend on a flimsy parked-car promise.

Holly knew him well. She reached over, poking him in the stomach. “Hey,” she said, “I’m still here. You can get all gloomy after I leave.

For real?!

Plot is barely existent. There isn’t any development between characters. Not much happening.

Dark Enemy is the ninth book in the DARC OPS series by Jamie Garrett where the DARC OPS team dig in deep to help those in trouble.

Holly’s world as she knows it is changing right before her eyes and she can’t stop it. Her new boss to be has caused more trouble and let her know right where she stands. But that pales into comparison when she receives a call that rocks her world. Holly is in a race against time and one she knows she will never win on her own, so she calls the one person that said to call when needed. So she did.

This story has the DARC Ops team taking on one of the top official offices and is one of my favourites in the series.

Logan let her go once, but when trouble brings Holly back into his life will he let her go again? He made a promise that if she ever needed anything he would always be there. Years later she needs his help. With one call, not only does she get Logan but she gets the whole Darc ops team. Can they resolve her problem before its too late? This is a brilliant story of Darc ops at its best, all working together to help their own.

Action Packed and Steamy

The series just keeps getting better and better. Even though Holly and Logan’s past relationship didn’t keep them together, it made their reconnecting even better. They both have an impulsive side that was problematic at times but also helpful. I want more of this series!!

Past lover to present lovers

Holly works for the cia but once she found out who her new boss was she was ready to leave, but then she got a call about her kidnapped cousin and she knew she needed help from one man in her past Logan. Logan was new with darc and was on probation. But helping holly was the only thing that mattered at the time.

Danger Around Every Corner

There is nothing better than having the love of your life by your side in a time of need. That is what happened when Holly needed her ex, Logan, when she was blackmailed and her cousin was kidnapped for a sex trade.
