After Deanna Sullivan, aka Tweedle-Dee, found herself hanging upside down at the town carnival, the last thing she expected was for Reel Thurman to return home. But strange occurrences threaten her safety, and he vows to protect her.
Determined to ignore him, she rolls her eyes and focuses on her baking. But as the ovens heat up, so does the danger level she faces and irresistible pull to be closer to Reel.
Tweedle will have to hang up her apron long enough to stay alive. But can she solve the mystery before Reel Thurman becomes too tempting to avoid?
I had to sit with this for a while before I felt ready to review. I gave the book 3 stars because it is an ok book. There are some truly hilarious moments that really hook you. The author is a talented writer and I may check out other works of hers. Now, for the reason for only 3 stars, I absolutely hate the female lead. I think the author was attempting to show her as strong and independent, what come out was at best vapid and at worst too stupid to live. I CAN NOT stand female characters who are constantly ignoring the advice of people who are trained in the situation in the name of "independence ". All the ever accomplish is putting themselves and innocent bystanders in danger. A lot of female characters are written that way . As an extremely independent and intelligent woman I find these characters an insult to women everywhere.
This book had a lot of funny moments and sweet “aww” moments but to be completely honest, the, for a lack of a better word, stupidity, the heroine decided to keep demonstrating almost had me quitting the book early several times. I’ve and over and over she kept “she-roaring” that she don’t need help or anyone to protect or save her, and still kept doing things that put her and, in turn, her family/friends in more danger. She pushed the H away so much for trying to keep her safe that I’m still not sure how he ended up proposing at all. Most of the book was about Who’s trying to hurt her, all the unnecessary danger she put herself into and him showing up to save her—- and not hardly any instances of them actually bonding and buikding their relationship. She pushed him away until the very ending proposal. I really wanted to love this book but the heroine was hard to get around.
I needed a break from all the violent FBI, Cop, Military mysteries I’ve been reading. This was a good change. I didn’t think it was hilarious like the reviews on Facebook said it was, but it was entertaining…..until I got frustrated! Deanna doesn’t know who’s sending her flowers on her birthday and telling her to meet him at the Ferris wheel. Then suddenly, she knows it’s Reel doing this! Did I miss something? She states she and Reel never dated…..but he’s all over her acting like they had a relationship. She insists in the beginning he only likes her like a sister, but toward the end she knows he loves her??? Their “relationship” never makes sense!! Rod is the same with Tansey. He acts like they are in a relationship, but they’ve never dated! The relationships just weren’t well explained nor established. Deanna’s last act of stupidity (going to the bakery alone) really irritated me! Very self-centered act on her part.
I would say it was a good break for me…..but the book just wasn’t pulled together well and became a bit tedious.
Finally a book that got me out of my book funk! I really enjoyed this book! It had me laughing and hanging on in suspense at the same time. I never knew what I was going to get when I turned the page!
I was expecting it to be a romance, and while there was a little romance, that wasn't the focus of the book at all. It was a small town that came together and defended their own. Filled with quirky characters that a lot of history together.
I would totally recommend this book if you are looking for a fun read.
I have to say my sister called me after reading this and said, I really need to read it and just knew I'd love it. I was skeptical when she told me a little about the book because I am a huge from of erotica. Nope she hit the nail on the head with this one. If you want to laugh out loud and do your best not to wake the rest of the house then take a chance on this book. It was absolutely refreshing and wonderful writing. I will be downloading her next book now.
I’m usually not a mystery/romance reader yet Reel and Twiddle’s story had me hooked from page one. I fell in love with all of the towns residents and all of Reel’s co-workers. This is a clean read which says so much about the author’s ability to write a good book. When an author has to write two chapters of explicit sex it show her lack of creativity in writing a captivating story. This is my first novel by this writer and it won’t be my last. 😊
This was my first Kaylie.Hunter book. Loved it. There was mystery, romance (would have liked the romance fleshed out a bit more) and humor. Amid all of this the author managed to touch on more serious topics such as Alzheimers, elder and child abuse. Lots of characters to keep straight but I managed without too much trouble! Keeps you on your toes to say the least. I would recommend to readers of Romantic Suspense and will be reading this author again soon.
This was a cute book, but the heroine was all over the place. She insisted on being independent to the point of lacking common sense. Her "independence" got not only her in trouble several times, but also her friends and family. I would have liked the book better if she had been able to take advice from people who were trained in dangerous situations. I enjoyed the book once I was able to overlook her stupidity.
This book was described as a romantic comedy with an underlying suspense them. The first chapter was promised to be a hoot and it, indeed, was funny, but over 50% into the book and I was getting aggravated with all the ridiculous antics. There romance was barely evident and the silliness overshadowed any intrigue to the mystery. I just got sick of the inane silliness and gave up on the discovering the villain and waiting for the romance to be realized. DNF’d.
The FMC, tweedle is just perfectly written. She’s someone who is genuine, loving and has a wicked sense of humor. Her life runs, not off, but certainly adjacent to the rails. Her best friend, the ultimate partner in crime definitely steals some scenes but the duo is the epitome of friendship. Her MMC Reel is growly and alpha and meshed well with her chaos.
I definitely enjoyed this story. Tweedle has this stale life of doing the same thing everyday until some odd things start happening. Then Reel comes home and all this chaos comes and she doesn’t know what to do next, she does know is she is an independent woman and she is not going to be bossed around. I loved the plot and I hope there is another book about Tansey.
This clean HEA has it all: laughter, mystery, swoony kisses
Oh my, where to begin ... this story is funny,, don't read it while you're spouse is sleeping or you may wake him up because you're laughing. The mystery added fun intrigue to this HEA .Lastly, there are many swoony moments . Look forward to reading more by this author.
Just like EVERY book I've read by author Kaylie Hunter once I start reading I don't want to put it down. Interesting characters and storyline. plenty of action and mystery. Make sure that you read something written by this amazing author, you won't be sorry!
OMMFG I'm in love with this book!! It was so 😂😂😂😂!! I swear I never would have thought that not only was she accident prone but the majority of the time she barley got injured. 💚💜💙💛 it!! Wish there was more of this couple!!
This book had me laughing from chapter one. I never knew what Tweedle would wind up doing next - another revenge plot or be more accident prone Loved this book!
I read a lot but very seldom do I find a book that makes its characters and town come alive, this one did & that takes talent. I loved the storyline & cast!
This when a mile a minute.I would have liked a little more time with Reel and Tweedle back story. But trying to keep up with Tweedle and all the characters in that town was very entertaining!
I have been in a real book slump, plots all seemed the same, this one was different. Lots of twists and turns, a strong female character who doesn't wait or want a man to take care of her, she can do it herself!
Everything in this story is believable. The wack characters , the citizens of the community the mystery. I wish I had the nerve to do half of the zany things.
This was a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book. I will have check out a few other of her books. I get the feeling that there might be some overlapping of characters.
Deanna and Ryan's love story is realistic and a cynic like me smile. Both characters are strong and independent and have a great dynamic. The mystery of who's trying to kill Deanna, and why, was interesting.
This was a breath of fresh air. I loved the zany girls and the wacky relatives. Lots of secrets revealed, lots of shenanigans leading up to the HEA. This one will make you feel good after you read it.
Man!! I hope you write more books like this one. I was spellbound. The cast of characters developed so quickly, and the sprinkle of romance and humor is the best. Thank you
Loved this book. Laughed as promised. But this wasn't just a fabulous romantic comedy, but also full of friendships, action, whodunits, and suspense. Try it! I know Ill be reading more from Katie Hunter!
