Originally from Ohio, I now reside in Texas with my folks and little sister. I'm a born again Christian and I want to give all the glory to God.

I love writing! I tend to lean toward suspense, thrillers, the occasional wholesome Christmas story and "what if" scenarios. Such as what if you were to check out a library book and someone unknowingly left a document in the pages that contained life-altering secrets concerning the government. That sort of thing.

Aside from writing, I'm always reading. I love the classics, historical fiction, adventures, survival, fairy-tale retellings, suspense, and any and all things Newsie related.

I very much enjoy plays and musicals, embroidery, road trip adventures with the fam, retro arcade games, and board games. I'm also very interested in weaponry (archery, swordsmanship, etc).

Characters: Jessica and Nicole seemed like realistic college students. I originally thought Mark was the same age as they were, but for reasons I'm not going to give away due to spoilers, I later found out he had to be a little older. He was definitely an intriguing character to say the least.

Language: Clean.

Moral: I'd say the main themes in this books were doing the right thing even when it's hard and the danger of revenge. Log Off didn't contain much Christian content, but I appreciated Virginia's inclusion of the Romans Road scriptures at the end.

Plot: The creativity of this plot was epic. In addition to creativity, this plot also contained high stakes, action, suspense, and surprising character revelations. I found the first half of the story a little hard to get into, but things started moving for me in the second half.

Romance: Clean. Just a kiss. Romance wasn't a main focus in this novel, but there were a few hints occasionally.

Writing: Virginia's style worked great for this story. Her writing flowed well, and she didn't get hung up on unnecessary details.

Overall: Log off was an entertaining read, and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction, clean fiction, and suspense.

Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher/author. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

First: an enormous thank you to the author, Virginia Henderson, for sending me a free copy in exchange for a review!

What if the person before you forgot to sign out of the library computer… and you discovered a bomb plot? 😱 That’s the premise of “Log Off,” a fast-paced story with some unexpected twists.

Dislikes: I’m going to be honest and say that the writing “told” a lot as opposed to showing- since emotions and events are spelled out for the reader, scenes like lose impact. That also made it hard for me to be emotionally invested in the characters.

Likes: I appreciate how the story takes time to focus on individual relationships while still maintaining suspense. Also, the timeline of the book (a few weeks) seems more realistic than the typical “literally everything happens within 2 days” timeline in other books. My favorite character would have to be . The content level is squeaky clean! :D 🐥

Overall, I enjoyed this story. From now on, I’m going to be more cautious when I get on the computers at the library… you never know if someone has forgotten to log off. ;)

Obligatory disclaimer: As stated above, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not blackmailed, bribed, or otherwise coerced into giving a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

One thing I love about Virginia Henderson's books are the creativity of her plots. She takes normal, everyday occurrences (like logging on and off of a computer) and builds interesting, exciting books off of that! Log Off is the perfect example of that, and I loved seeing how the plot worked out!

I really enjoyed the three main different POVs in this book. Instead of having just two love interests, this book had two best friends and a slightly sketchy other character's point of view. I enjoyed seeing Nicole and Jessica's interactions with each other, and they acted just like any normal college kids. I think it can be very effective when the characters in the book are just normal people who are shoved into not-so-ordinary experiences. Mark was a mystery for a quite a while, and I didn't know what to make of him. However, by the end of the book, I'd come around to liking him. There wasn't much romance in this plot, but the tiny bit of a relationship took a twist I hadn't been expecting, which was great!

The plot was full of action and so many twists and turns. I didn't know what to expect. The plot definitely moved quickly, making this a fast read. I had to see what happened! One tiny thing that was a little bothersome was the confusion between Zek, Zak, and Zok. At first, their names were a little bit too similar, but by the end of the book, I was more used to seeing their names and had learned to differentiate them. That's just a case of tired reader, and they did seem like the perfect villains with their matching fake names. And wow, talk about some bad dudes. I wouldn't want to get on their wrong sides.

Throughout the book, I enjoyed seeing Jessica, Mark, and Nicole grow closer through their harrowing experiences. Though there wasn't much overt Christian content, there was definitely a theme of thankfulness, second chances, and loyalty to one's friends. This book was also very clean, which was great! Overall, Log Off was an exciting read, and I'm looking forward to finishing the series.

Many thanks to the author for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This was an enjoyable read that held my interest throughout! Having read nothing by this author before, I didn't know what to expect, but I really liked this book!
One of my favourite things about this (and something that made it stand out from other books like it) was how I ended up changing the characters I shipped halfway through. That happens very, very seldom, and usually I'm quite disappointed when it does! But this time, I was delighted at the way it turned out! It was unexpected, and it certainly made the book very un-cliche, when at the beginning I had thought it would be very cliche. That was honestly my favourite part of the book.
The mystery was quite an interesting one, and although for most of the book I never felt it to be very suspenseful, the last couple chapters were quite intense. The villains were all rather tragic characters, but I never exactly felt sorry for them (well, not two of them anyway). But I appreciated that they were given a definite personal motive for what they did.
The only reason this book wasn't a 5-star read (and I did have trouble deciding whether to make it 4 or 4.5) is the writing style. I never quite made up my mind if I liked it or not. I can't say it didn't draw me into the story, because it did, and I can't say I ever found myself losing interest because of it. It was more that there seemed to be several unnecessary details that were distracting to read, rather than helping me picture the scene better, and some of the dialogue (most especially from the villains) felt a bit wooden and unnatural. Or maybe a bit cliche. Also, some of the situations the character found themselves seemed unrealistic and often seemed to me to be blown all out of proportion, and to escalate very quickly and not in a way I could quite follow. The argument is the example that comes to mind - Also, like I said, I never really felt concerned about the outcome until the last couple of chapters, and though some scenes felt like they were meant to be suspenseful, they weren't. So those were my main complaints, but there were still many things I liked and overall, this is a good book and one I'd read again.
I definitely would like to read the other books in the trilogy, and I would read other books by this author. I was quite sorry when it ended! Recommended.

Giving this three stars only because I’m ultra sparing with my 4’s and 5’s. Log Off kept me guessing more than I anticipated. I loved the tense, moment-by-moment pacing and the ending paid off—but definitely kept things open for books two and three. Another great installment from Virginia Henderson.

It was a very suspenseful read about two young ladies that got inadvertently involved in a bomb threat. It is an easy read with many twists and turns and would be well suited for teens. I am an old man but I couldn't put it down.

Hovering a bit between 2 and 3 stars on this one. Think it might be a 3-star read for most other readers, but with me only liking very well-done romance plots, the cheesy subplots deterred rather than encouraged my enjoyment and there wasn't a lot else to make up for it.

Writing was choppy, the cover looks very stereotypically subpar indie, could have seriously just used any kind of semi-professional editor and been so much better, and the dialogue felt awkward and unrealistic. The one thing this book did have was plot. It had a phenomenal plot that could absolutely be rewritten into a phenomenal book, if written with a more mature and tight prose and given more fully fleshed out characters and dialogue.

All in all, I did have moments I enjoyed the book, and the prose/dialogue were much tighter and didn't get in the way of enjoying the book as much in spots where the suspense was high and the plot was faster-paced to make up for it, but I definitely had to drag myself through it to the climax past the low-quality writing and cringy dialogue. It also stands out to me that the MC and the sidekick were so not-unique from each other that I had a fair amount of trouble keeping track of which was which, which could have easily been avoided by a little more work fleshing out their individual personalities or characters. And while "show don't tell" is sometimes overused advice...so many times I just wished I could learn something on my own about the characters by seeing it in action, instead of always being told directly.

Worth reading for the plot if you don't mind slightly cringy/cheesy elements that tend to really get under my skin, but it could be a great book if it was rewritten.
