When Kari Stockton, hoping to put her old life behind her and start fresh, finds a tiny, remote town in the backwoods of Montana, it’s up to Noah Chambers, the town sheriff and Pack Alpha, to deal with the new human in town.
Deal with her?
Sheriff Chambers never dreamed he’d not only risk everything to keep the sassy, sharp-tongued human female safe from bears and wolves, he’d also fight tooth and claw to claim her as his mate.
Where are all these 4 and 5 star reviews coming from? I’ve read some of CA’s work before and enjoyed it, but this... I couldn’t finish this book. I get that sometimes there needs to be some drama or conflict to move the story forward. But is it truly necessary for that drama to occur solely because of the complete idiocy of the main characters?
The H is the Alpha, yet security - in the midst of rising inter species tensions and a previous attack on the h - is the last thing on his mind. Until that lack of forethought puts the h in danger. Again. He’s one of the worst Alphas ever. And a moron.
The h isn’t much better. Yes, facing your fears can be therapeutic and important. Ignoring common sense and basic safety rules to do so is just asking for nature to take you out of the gene pool.
No, seriously people. She went into the woods at night, alone, no flashlight, no means of protection... to face her new fear of the woods because a couple characters told her not to go into the woods at night due to wild animals. Because that’s what any intelligent and rational adult does.
Completely unnecessary, frustrating, please-kill-them-Mr.-Serial-Killer plot devices. Spare yourself the urge to gouge out your eyes and give this one a pass.
Alpha Sheriff is a light, fun read with a sexy alpha and the human woman that he can't get enough of. I loved this pair from their first encounter. Kari's sass keeps our hot sheriff on his toes and their banter was certainly chuckle worthy. While there were a couple of unanswered questions, we get plenty of the shifter - mate romance between this pair. It's easy to see the attraction between them from the start and I like that Noah doesn't realize he's found his mate from the instant he lays eyes on Kari. It is pretty quick, but not exactly instant. The story moves at a fast pace with some steamy fun, tension between rival clans, and some often quite humorous dialogue. This one is great for a lazy couple of hours in your favorite reading spot and leaves you with a smile and some good feels.
Alpha Sheriff, Noah, was a quick read with quick paced developments, good characters and Kari keeps the sassy banter rolling throughout. The mating dance ensues. Drama with a rival clan. Sexy, hot, panty melting pleasures. Noah and Kari keeps the read moving and the engagement high.
This was the first book by this author that I have read. I have purchased a couple of her series and the sit in the TBR pile. After reading this they will move up in the list. This is a well written quick read that is a perfect afternoon escape. The characters are interesting and fully developed. The storyline is fast paced, yet engaging. I would recommend this book to anyone who just wants a quick read that tells a full story with scorching heat. This book was a perfect way to fully enjoy a story without having to deal with keeping details, characters ect. , straight. The author did all the heavy thinking for you. You just get to sit back and enjoy the story unfold.
I usually have an issue with the shifter books because there is always something weird they have to do in order to mate with a human etc. Usually it is something stupid and I can't wrap my head around the purpose of it but this one was pleasantly normal. Nothing crazy, no strange rituals lol. Your Alpha Wolf was wonderful and protective but also sweet and sensitive...almost. While I was expecting Kari to be a little more messed up she adjusted quickly which I appreciate because lets be honest I hate beating the dead horse. The twist was something I wasn't expecting but I did expect more from the ending. I wanted there to be more....overall a good shifter book!
First time reading this author, I thought the story was okay. I still raking my brain as to how author allowed bear & wolf to come together. What would their litter look like if they had children. I did enjoy the imagination of Noah. Damn if I had to close my eyes and imagine what he looks like I would take him to my bed as well. Overall very interesting book and still left somethings not said.
This is a pretty good shifter book. Kari just wants to live in peace after leaving her crazy ex-boyfriend. She never knew what kind of crazy town she was moving into. Noah is the sheriff of this cozy town, his people and others don't like having "humans" in their town. There is a lot going on in this story with romance thrown in the middle. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
Kari is a human woman fleeing her former boyfriend. She goes from Texas to a rental property in Half Moon, MT. She does not know it is a shifter town. Noah is the title character, a wolf shifter. The mountain also has a clan of bear shifters. They do not want humans moving in. Noah is an extremely strong character. It is a good story of love fighting identity politics. The added bonus teasers are good and will have you looking for more of Ms. Ayers' books. Highly recommend.
Alpha Sheriff by Candace Ayers is a terrific book. A little short but full of fun, steam , drama and witty banter. Noah and Kari have great chemistry and it was very easy to become engaged in their story. A entertaining plot peppered with twists, secrets and a bit of danger make sure the book moves at a good pace. A very good read that I recommend to fans of romances and lovers of shifter stories. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Good read for when you only have a couple hours and don't want anything too heavy or part of a series. Well developed shifter world without going though a lot of long winded backstory, which is a plus. For those with a mind for the little details there are a couple of minor loose ends not tied up by the end of the book but that shouldn't affect enjoyment of the HEA.
Interesting book. A little different than usual shifter story. Has the hot man, hot quick sex, and lots of unusual events. Thought the book could have been a little longer and thought the story was kind of rushed. Although the story was good and it flowed well, I thought that there should have been a bit more bulk to it. I enjoyed the book and I also can recommend it to others to read.
I read through chapter 3. If you rented a home sight unseen, and had been warned twice not to venture into the woods behind the house at night, what would you do? Why, you would alleviate your fears by venturing into the woods at night, right? I thought this book would be promising; however, I am simply incapable of abiding a heroine who is TSTL. Needless to say, I did not torture myself—returned it, unfinished
Kari moves to this little town in Montana to get away from her ex-boyfriend who turned out to be a drug dealer. She meets Noah, the sheriff and alpha of the wild shifters. She gives him a hard time and sass and he falls...hard. He just doesn't realize it because he doesn't believe in true mates. They have some ups and downs and all around until they get their HEA.
A good story line and character profile was developed and then SPOILER ALERT...she's turned into a bear, fights and becomes Alpha, great sex, and THE END! The story ended at 65% and left so many things that were brought into the story line...dangling.
Enjoyed the story. Quick read with suspense and romance. Fast paced, keeps you turning the pages. Kari had no idea shifters existed until she met Noah and was thrown into his world.
Kari just wanted a place that was far away from her ex boyfriend, then she meets the sheriff and man did the sparks fly.She gave the sheriff a fun for his money. If you like a character with a snarky attitude you will love Kari.
I enjoyed the story but the story ended at the 64% mark, the rest of the book was excerpts from other stories. There was so much story left to explore (IMO) and it just ended rather abruptly.
I am not a fan of short stories, and the realization that this was a combo of sorts was a surprise. That being said, the story developed too quickly, the plot felt rushed and the characters could have been so much more developed. I liked Noah.
Fantastic story, didn't see the ending coming. Nice when you get to have a surprise ending. I really enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down. Finished it in one reading. Can't wait to read more of Candace Ayers books.
I found this to be a cute quick fun read. Paranormal romance readers should enjoy. It is part of a series but reads as a stand alone. No cliffhanger. Has bears and wolves. I rate it a 4.
