Baleigh and Travis are police officers. She's a former biker pass-around turned rookie cop and he's clueless about her past. Short, free story with minor editing issues.

Baleigh grew up in Venice Beach, where her childhood was filled with biker gangs and other unsavory experiences that are still ingrained in her psyche. She is now a police officer, patrolling the streets close to where she grew up.

This was a short prequel to the book Running Blind which is set to release in May 2017. A great intro to Baleigh and her life as she knows it. The story grips you and ends on a cliffhanger enticing you to read more into Baleigh's story from here... I am now very interested to know the synopsis and how to the subsequent story will unfold...

I received a complimentary copy of this prequel for my honest and unbiased review.

This is a quickie that gets you pumped for Running Blind. We're given suspense and "what just happened?" I cannot wait for more. I'm a fan of Lissette's work, this is a change of scenery for her. I'm loving the story line and where we're heading. Great start to this series and you have my attention patiently waiting for more. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I want more of Baleigh and Travis

A short read that you are longing to find more about Baleigh and Travis. I cannot wait to read the next book. I know that I will loved this series as it is heart pounding, sweet and steamy. I loved reading anything with a cop love story as well. The suspense is killing me in this book.

this was a very short prequel, just to get ur mouth wet! cops, partners, hiding their relationship. in fear of danger or termination. baleigh is thinking of transferring so her n Davis's relationship don't burn out or so they don't get fired
oh n duty they get called to a burglary in process, gunfire, is it Travis? is the person alive or dead? have to get the next book to find out!

The Story:
Baleigh and Travis are police officers and partners and since they're romantically involved with each other, Baleigh doesn't want to get them in trouble or worse, fired, so she thinks about a transfer before anybody finds out about them.
But one night on duty ends with a horrible outcome.

Thoughts:
I didn't really care for the first few pages when Baleigh thought about her time growing up on the streets of Venice and waking up Travis with his cock in her mouth. But I suppose her story will probably have some meaning for the story to come. Since this was just a short prequel, it ended at the best part. The suspension in the end definitely makes you want to continue reading and I would absolutely read on.

The characters had something likeable though the prequel was too short to say for sure if I'd like them in the full story. The story got interesting just as it ended and when the full book keeps this up it will surely be a great read.

I'll look forward to the release and will decide then if I read the full book or not.

Note: I don't usually mention minor editing errors but in such a short prequel, there just shouldn't be any. They didn't count into my rating though. Just saying.
I'm kind of used to them anyway since I read a lot of arc's but this was such a short prequel that they should have been caught during proofreading.

This was a prequel, new author to me. This grab me from the first page. I want to read the complete book! two police officers, secret lovers, Baleigh tells Travis she is going to request a transfer to keep from losing their jobs. Travis doesn't like it, thinks Baleigh wants to end relationship. When they go on duty their personal life is put on hold. They got a robbery in process call, it doesn't feel right to Baleigh, Travis says wait to call backup. That turns out to be a bad decision. Baleigh is at the front door, Travis goes to the back, shots are fired. Is Travis shot or did he fire at the intruder. We will have to wait to read the book to find out more. I can't wait.

Bayleigh, ghetto girl trying to change her life and make something of herself. Gone to school, good job, good boyfriend. What more could she ask for.
She wants nothing to screw this up so she looks to try and make things better.
One night, one misjudgment....and her life is never the same again.
Great start to what looks like a great series. This prequel gets you just into the storyline enough to make you want to read more.
Cannot wait to see what happens next

A great Prequel. A rookie cop with a shady past that her partner is clueless about. Feelings and lies standing in the way. Everything she worked for is gone just as quick as she has it in the palm of her hands. A quick but great insight to how it all began.

This prequel kept me wanting more. Waiting for the first book to follow as the ending left me sitting in the edge of my seat. Hot and steamy, yet the sex scenes did not overpower the story.

Lisette never disappoints when it comes to her writing. It's edgy, heart pounding, suspenseful, and steamy. This is one prequel you don't want to miss.

Baleigh is in trouble and makes a deal with the LAPD and she has to go back to her horrible past.

This novella was a first read for me from Lisette Kristensen but it won't be the last. Different from what I normally read but I was soo engrossed in the story of Baleigh Burgess. Baleigh grew up on the streets of Venice, the hard way!! She was drawn to bikers and their way of life. Nothing was taboo when you belonged to the bikers family. Baleigh knew she had to get away from that sort of life and she wanted to better herself. She became a police officer to serve and protect. You can run from the chaos of the biker lifestyle but it will always be in your blood. Baleigh and her partner, Travis, were on a call to a deserted area. Baleigh wanted to call back-up and Travis said it was just probably a scared cat. Ohh were they so wrong. Shots fired, total silence, darkness, and a body silhouetted by the moon.......Now you will have to read Running Blind to find out more. I loved this story and plan to read everyone after the prequel Running Silent

This is a short prequel to Running Blind. Baleigh and Travis are police officers riding the same unit and are lovers. Baleigh grew up in the bad section of Venice Beach. She spent her time being passed around by bikers and learned to like rough sex. She loves Travis, but he doesn't know about her past and is upset she wants to change departments or shifts so they won't be fired. They go out on a robbery call...... to be continued in Running Blind.

This is the prequel to Running Blind and we’re introduced to police officer Baleigh - a woman from a tough area, who has a troubled past which she is trying hard to leave behind.
I liked this short read, preferring the second half of the story to the opening scenes. I found the beginning a little confused at first because it dropped into the story abruptly, but the story picked up at around the halfway point, and built up to a good, exciting ending.

I like Baleigh. She was a likeable character and a capable woman.
Baleigh has a romantic relationship with her fellow police officer and partner, Travis. I didn’t warm to him as much. I felt at this point she certainly had a more mature, and realistic, understanding of the need to separate their personal and work lives than Travis did! I’m interested to see how they overcome any obstacles in the next book.

This is a short book and a good set-up for the series which follows. The strong ending left me wanting to discover what happens next for Baleigh.

Reminded me of neo-noir crime thriller Sin City. Loved it.

Right off the bat we’re captured by Baleigh’s voice. She’s sexually confident, damaged, tough. She has a past. She’s not hiding it or ashamed of it, but she’s moved on. Now she’s on the force with a partner who’s got her back—and her heart.

Baleigh is a pulls-no-punches kind of girl and so is the writing. If you are squeamish about sex the opening scene might leave you blushing, but it perfectly captures Baleigh’s character in a few short lines. Though it is only written from her point of view that scene cleverly gives us insight into her partner and lover Travis and what they have to lose. After the glut of books featuring a doe-eyed ingenue as willing submissive where all the decisions are made by men, it was refreshing to read about an intelligent woman in command of her sexual appetite. At only thirty pages this is a short prequel yet ends on a question that leaves you eager for more. In short, it’s a perfect set-up for Running Blind.

Kristensen creates a believable cop story with a strong yet vulnerable heroine who isn’t your stereotypical tough chick. The writing is confident and edgy. Perfect noir. If Running Blind continues with such a great voice and believable noir atmosphere it looks being a great noir crime thriller series.

Love Lisette's work. This is a short prequel to Running Blind which is already lined up on my Kindle to read.

Baleigh is a fascinating character, in this prequel, we find out what makes her tick and there are clues as to what she's had to put up with in the past. I loved the interaction with Travis, it was realistic and true to life. Love the fact that she has a conscience about them working together for the LAPD and sleeping with each other when off duty.

The ending was a shock and sets up the next book in the series nicely.

Definite five stars from me for this pacey, no nonsense thriller and killer read.

Short but sweet this book definitely isn't , from the moment Baleigh reminisces on her past to waking Travis up with a mouthful of his cock to the cliffhanger ending the only thing you want from this book is more & more & maybe a bit more after that . If this is the taster god help us when we get full sized Baleigh & Travis in Running Blind . Lisette Kristensen you know which of our buttons to press to keep his begging for more from you .
