There are many things men and women can disagree about, but the one thing we can’t argue is that for each of us, life happens. Growth is about appreciating when life is good. While also learning to deal with things that are beyond our control. These experiences either break us or shape us into stronger individuals.
There is a beautiful design for love between men and women. Truce is an opportunity to discover its true potential. The battle of the sexes has left us with an improper, and at times unhealthy understanding of one another. When our relationships don't go the way we want them to we can feel like something is wrong with us. Men and women need time- to grow, to learn, to heal, and to reconsider the ways we attempt to love each other. Truce is a guide for us to meet all disappointments with faith in ourselves and the future.
I've really enjoyed my first read by Rob Hill Sr. Honestly speaking, it took me a while to finish this book although I feel it was designed for a quick read. I started the book after experiencing a disappointment, hence why I was drawn to the book. It took me longer than expected as I made a conscious decision to practice what I was reading. The analogies in this book were endless which made it an easier reading experience.
Notable mention, I would've rated this book the full 5 stars if it wasn't for its repetitiveness. I felt slightly stuck towards the middle of the book as I didn't feel any new content emerge for me to practice. With that being said, Rob Hill Sr. still did a great job diving into detail within each chapter. Guess I was looking for a little more out of this book.
This is one of the worst books I've read written by the type of writer I hate the most: the one who can write an entire chapter without saying anything. I found myself reading a non-sensical sentence written in elocuent "thought provoking" words so frequently that I am honestly shocked this book actually went through an editing process.
The book has no structure. It takes an entire chapter to poorly convey something that takes a paragraph to write and fills in the gaps with the type of writing you see on Facebook "motivational quotes" shared by your aunt.
If you are looking for a book to help you pick yourself up after a breakup I'd recommend you look somewhere else.
I have been following Rob Hills Sr for some time and he always seems to have a word for me. This book was no different. After and during reading, I was definitely doing a lot of reflection on my thoughts and reactions to things that have happened to me. I’m not who I use to be, but I still have some growing to do and reading Rob’s book let’s me know that’s perfectly ok! Thanks Rob!
