Just when Bonnie Mayberry thought her new life in Snow Ridge, New Hampshire, was getting back to normal after a horrific case involving a deadly, old man bent on revenge, she is pulled into a second case that wraps her in a web of lies, deceit and murder!
At first, the man’s murder seems straightforward enough. That is, until an influential politician arrives in town demanding that the wife of the dead man be turned over to her for prosecution. But Bonnie soon finds out that this powerful woman is not exactly who she seems to be…
In fact, she may not only be the killer, but she just may be planning to take over the world! And she’s not working alone!
Does Bonnie have what it takes to uncover the truth before it’s too late? Will her reputation as a troublemaker in town work against her? Or will her new neighbors finally see that she is only hoping to protect their community? And can she survive long enough to prove it?
This was another fast paced read with a ton of twists and turns. This plot had corruption, assassins and plenty of mayhem. This series has definitely piqued my interest enough to continue the series as they are released.
Terrific read. Plots and counter plots that will keep you wondering who is the real baddie. Wonderful portrayal of the characters from cold bloodedness to the unsure but determined to do what is human and decent. She has plans to open a coffee shop. Hopefully the residents of the town will come to accept her. However when her "beau" comes to her and her roomie (plus BFF) for help they bother readily agree. A murder has happened in one of the vacation cottages and now the dead man's first wife is here baying for blood. Worse she has contacts in all the topmost circles and it is only with the help of a judge that she is thwarted. He wants them to follow her and see what she does. Murder, mayhem and plans to unleash a deadly virus are in the offing. Can they stop the schemes that are playing out in front of their eyes? Has her BFF met the man of her dreams? But will they be alive to see how it develops?
This is book 2 and I still like Bonnie and Sarah. Sarah, with the crazy hair colors, has finally found a man who matches her. They both once again, get involved in murder. The story is a bit out there, but OK. Really? Controlling the world by poising them. The amount of nut cases is huge and stupid. I still like it. It's fast, easy and I like Bonnie and Sarah.
I have not read book 1 and I think that even though this book may be read as a stand alone book, I think it may read better if you have read book 1, at least to get a complete back ground story on the main characters of Bonnie, Sarah and Brent. I could surmise some of the back ground story from the information provided. There was still an element of suspend reality and go with the flow as some of the situations were at best bizarre at worst slapstick comedy. (Spoiler alert: the fight scene between Tara and Bonnie????? really, why put that in, what purpose did that serve?? Completely removed any credibility Bonnie may have enjoyed) The kindle edition I read really needs a good proof reader and editor, I was jolted out of the story by the use of incorrect grammar and incorrect names. The overall story was engaging. 2.5 stars, maybe with a good editor and proof reader it may get to a solid 4 stars.
A few typos, a whirlwind of a plot in a novella. Good for those who don't have a ton of time to be wrapped up in a long story. The "quickness" of the whole thing makes it a little unbelievable. Sarah is quirky to a fault. She feels like an insane old woman so it was hard to grasp how this handsome, intelligent man in his 40s is falling for her. Even her nicknames for people, her unnecessary phrases and insults that are over the top reads "senile old woman" let alone her dress and hair colors. If it was dress and hair color and endearingly quirky she'd be likeable. But most of the time her lines are over the top and kind of annoying. And really not necessary to the story.
I couldn't put this book down!! I stayed up all night to find out what was going to happen next. And boy, did i find out. Bonnie Mayberry is a very complex woman and her friend Sarah Bates is truly unique, and a badass woman!! Detective Brent Mintfield is cool, smart and great at his job. When he went to Bonnie about a body in the snow, little did they expect how big the situation was going to be. So many suspects and how evil the people involved are. And they all had personal connection to each other. There is so much to this story i will not spoil it for you, BUT YOU MUST READ THIS!!!! You won't sleep until you find out the end.
I can not for the life of me figure out how these books are rated so highly. They're terrible. Totally unrealistic situations, actions, and conversations. They're all supposed to be adults I think, but the contrived and forced conversations sound like they're a bunch of immature teenagers. I bought the boxed set for $.99, thank goodness, because they're definitely not worth any more than that. Thought maybe the series would get better but there are too many good books out there waiting for me, to waste time on nonsense.
I bought the audible boxed set to listen to when I was driving as it sounded good. The first book was okay though it was a little too Christian for me. In the second book she just went wild with the goody-goody stuff and the Christian stuff and psychologically analyzing the main character. I found myself saying God won't anything ever happen in this! Author needs to tone down the religious stuff. I won't be continuing to listen to the other three books.
Bonnie Mayberry's move did not get off to a good start after her move to Snow Ridge New Hampshire. Things are now settling down after she was cleared of a murder charge. Now, she faces a new challenge after Bonnie finds a body outside a cabin not far from where she belongs. An influential politician is demanding the man's wife be turned over for prosecution. But, Bonnie is out to prove her innocence while facing a dangerous stalker who has killed before, and has no problems killing again.
This was a little complicated at first, a lot of characters to get straight in my mind, but once I did that the story was great! A lot of twists and turns, good reading.
As complicated as the first mystery, just a lot more killers. And as for Sarah, she was delightful at first. But just annoying now. Some situations call for levity. She has a hard time figuring out when that is.
Good story and kept me interested. It had secret intentions all over the place and two sets of twins that kept Bonnie, Sarah and Brent on their game. One person was intent on controlling the world and killing whoever was in the way.
Very very good mystery! Lots of action, deception and even a little bit of love along the way. Bodies start piling up as the world sleeps, not expecting what could happen in their future. Very well written thriller that I highly recommend!
I like this series and the camaraderie between the characters, but way to many mistakes. Saying Brent when it should be Thorn or vice versa. This makes it very hard to stay interested in the book.
Much better than the first in the series. A lot tighter plotting. I believe this author has talent, but really needs to work on dialogue and character development.
Bonnie and Sarah are tangled up in another deadly game of murder and mayhem. Bonnie have to face and fight her inner demon to survive and remains alive. Great read.
This one is better than the 1st book, but still have characters who need to learn to grow up. Again has potential to be a very good book. Needs a serious rewrite.
This has to be the worst book I have ever read. I read the first one and liked it. This one was so far off the rails. I’m going for the next one but will DNF if it isn’t like the first book.
