Great romance between queer women!

This is such an adorable book! I loved the playful banter between the characters and how natural their relationship seemed. The "is this friendship or is she gay?" struggle is so very real. One of the women believes she's straight at the beginning of the book, and the way her identity is handled is very real, and very well done.

If you read this as a standalone, you're going to be lost, and the story will feel incomplete, especially the mystery subplot, which is not resolved in this book, but ties into the main series. But the relationship arc does make sense as a standalone.

There are also a good many typos, missed words, etc. That break the immersion at times, especially when they happen in key scenes.

The main character is well rounded for a short book, I feel that I understand her rather well, the love interest was less defined and a little more flat until some interesting drama at the climax of the book. The main investigation that Sabina is working on throughout most of the book does not get resolved, so I do hope to read a bit more on that later, but would have liked a bit more explanation other than that the investigation stalled, despite the fact that this is more realistic with murder investigations...
