The loss of a job, her husband, her home, and her quiet life has Talia dreaming of a life she’s only read about in paranormal romance novels.

An inherent need to find his mate and settle down has werecoyote Bane hoping that the human who’s just entered his life is the one for him.

Peace is all, Casen, the king of the werewolves wants, but with half his pack yearning to be the warring pack they once were, he’s sure it won’t come in his lifetime.

Max is determined that the war between his people and the coyotes continues even if it means kidnapping and torturing a group of coyotes and the human with them to make it happen.

The Fates, on the other hand, have their own agenda for these four, and their desires are all that matter.

There was no way Talia could say no to helping her friend and boss gather background for a new book. With her life currently too quiet and too depressing, this could be the closest she will ever get to living in the world of the paranormal romances she loves to get lost in. Who knows, one month among a coyote shifter pack, learning about the concept of soul mates and mating for life could be just the change she needs. Little did Talia know just how much that change would be, giving credence to the saying, “What a difference a day makes!”

Bane is all male werecoyote, he is also searching for his mate. Could it be Talia? They definitely have chemistry, but do they have that special spark to ignite more than the sheets?

When Talia accidently causes the coyotes to cross into werewolf territory, all thoughts of romance go out the door as she is used as a tool of dissention among the wolves, some wanting war, while their king, Casen longs to maintain peace. Battle lines are drawn and treachery runs wild on four paws as a compromising situation and accidental lust ignite between the king and Talia! Clearly, our Talia has become the sexy heroine in the books she reads!

CAPTIVE by Jennifer Lynn Reynolds has it all, passion, humor, an accidental heroine, sexy weres and pure evil lurking in the shadows! Not too heavy, Talia’s tale is proof that dreams can come true, if she can survive!

Talia is flawed, insecure and down on her luck, she is real, she is average, she is far from the canned heroines we read about; but wait, that was in the beginning… Jennifer Lynn Reynolds’s world has it all, her writing flows with touches of humor, a lot of danger and characters that make you feel a connection to, or maybe a repulsion for. But who gets the girl in the end?

Didn’t hate it but I didn’t really like it but didn’t dislike it... kinda meh

Didn’t hate it but I didn’t really like it but didn’t dislike it... kinda meh....

I didn’t like the heroine, but I didn’t hate her.... Honestly she was like the book as a whole to me ... Liked some, disliked some and really rather forgettable in the end...
Honestly, barely twenty minutes after finishing I had forgotten her name ... Talia... nice name, lovely name, but I think I liked it better than the person it went with...
Talia, honestly just seemed to be all tell and no show til the kidnapping it seemed to me...
She didn’t seem to have the most confidence and just seemed to be stumbling along in life, just enough personality to say she had one, when right before w/no mention of anything before between them ... suddenly she and Bane are all over each other ... literally she’s telling us and her Inwood monologue, how she and Bane and have been flirting etc. but just as friends and buddies and she feels no spark or chemistry and “just knows they aren’t mates” and then the next literally the next moment Bane is coming on to her and their sexing things up and are suddenly some sorta couple ...
And I’m like, huh?
Oooooooooo k....
I was confused... I mean you usually don’t have the h starting an affair or a relationship with another guy right before she meets her H.... I wasn’t upset but I was wondering if it was going to be a ménage or a triangle for 1/2 a second...
Don’t worry it wasn’t...
I felt bad for Bane because even though we hadn’t gotten to know him,he seemed like a good guy and they seemed really sweet together, despite the suddenness of their relationship..
Ok,while I did like the whole I sensed my mate no one can touch me sexually now kinda thing... lol,no cheating here...
Time between them sensing each other and finally meeting ?
Was drug out w a y w a y too long as far as I was concerned...
Honestly it felt like over half the book was either waiting for the abuse to end and Talia and Bane to be rescued or after the rescue for the bad guy to finally be captured....
Seriously what was maybe a week, week and a half of beatings and abuse but felt like at least a month ,then when they are rescued weeks and weeks and weeks pass of just Talia eating and eating and eating and sleeping and crying and and worrying about every little thing .... from does my mate Casen love me,to stretch marks, to being to fat, your turning into s were and your caring twins for heavens sake... to more eating and sleeping... just stress, angst and boredom....
and the last one was mainly me...
She fought hard and tried to be a giant B while she was held captive but other than whining about food seemed mostly a sleeping doormat after....
I loved Bane, he was an amazing friend but honestly since their relationship was all tell and no show before the five seconds they were lovers ( like two days before it all went to hades) I really never understood why he and his family loved her and took to her soo hard....
For a community soo insular and downright prejudiced towards / against anyone not of their particular species and humans in general it really didn’t seem to fit with how their ppl were described in general.....nice and wonderful as it was,it just didn’t make sense...
Talia and Casen both needed Bane his wonderful coyote family ,but especially since we didn’t get to see Talia building a relationship with them as all those weeks seemed to just fly on by,like soo many things it was just odd...
I really didn’t like the paranormal/shifter world 🌍 🌎 created here,it’s too overwhelmingly filled with too much hate and separation and prejudice for me.... it would be bad enough if like most books it was just humans getting their stupid petty hate on but all different shifters and such being soo prejudice and hateful they all have to have military out posts and cities within cities ? That was just horribly sad to me....

This is an ok book, but not enough development of the characters are the relationships to me and more sitting around waiting for something to happen than anything else to me..
Ps. Also frustrating was waiting for what felt like endless chapters of just watching the h eat, sleep and cry, when the big evil finally shows back up in the middle of a sex scene ,he’s scares the h, he’s taken rather quickly and put on trial the next day and we’re the way to the end where only one of the twins is named...
Can’t say not read it but can’t recommend it either...

Great addition to the series. There are some interesting twists and turns in this book that really add to the story. And I love the way the coyote pack seems to adopt Talia. I'm really interested to see where the series goes. I definitely need to read more about Bane as well as what happens with Dakota.

First off, I love Ms. Reynolds’ supernatural series! I love her take on shifters and weres and all the community that surrounds them.

Talia is a wonderful leading lady with enough flaws and insecurities to make her feel real. She’s thrown into situation after situation and she perseveres.

There are two men in her life: Bane and Casen. I don’t want to spoil these guys for readers, but I will say that you’ll probably get attached to them both. They both care for Talia though differently at different times ( because plot twist! I love a good plot twist.)

For a girl who was just supposed to be conducting interviews and taking notes to give her writer boss to base a new book on, Talia certainly gets way more than she bargained for!

I love this series and each time I pick one up, I am whisked away to a world where the supernatural and humans co-exist. This one took me on quite an adventure and moved at a good pace. There is plenty of action and steamy parts to keep you burning through the pages. I did find myself wanting to know a bit more about some of the characters and their back stories, but I guess she will just have to make more for me so I can learn more about them as well :). Over all I must say if you like the paranormal, you can count on Jennifer Reynolds to deliver. Great read!

3rd in the series

This story had everything you want in a good book. Casen and Talia has their work cut for them. Talia was sent to get information about coyote shifters and send it back to her boss. You really need to read these in order because it’s a really good series. I can’t wait to try out any other books by her.

Captive by Jennifer Reynolds

Talia has had a pretty rough year, losing her job, her boyfriend, and her home. She now has a job as an assistant for one of her best friends who happens to be a successful supernatural romance author, Destiny LeShae. Destiny has agreed with her publisher to help spearhead a project to help integrate the shifter world with the human world by writing some creative non-fiction pieces. The idea is all part of the supernatural community’s PR plan to ease their integration into the human world. Destiny sends Talia to gather research first hand.

This fantasy world is similar to our own and the werecoyotes are the most sociable. Since it is unlawful for Talia to be on any were-land, she needs to be escorted. Bane is assigned to Talia and his sister, Carla, is hosting Talia’s stay. Their parents are the rulers of this area’s werecoyote pack. Things are a little bumpy at first, but then goes along as planned until Talia wishes to see this magical waterfall she has heard about. The waterfall does have some sort of magical influence over Talia the others do not feel, and she is inexplicitly drawn towards the forest line, which leads to the wolf territory.

This is where the plot splits into two story arcs, the werecoyote and the werewolf. This is also where Ms. Reynolds breaks from the normal story tropes, applying her own influences to her supernatural world. The plot twists and turns as things go from bad to worse. The characters are well defined and unique. There are times when Talia wore on my nerves a bit, but she is a human thrown into unfamiliar territory with both the werecoyote and the werewolf worlds concerning the warring factions of both packs. There are plenty of blood and guts to keep the tension high. The alpha males from both packs also butt heads and growl their fair share to protect Talia.

I enjoyed the story despite Talia’s TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) moments. I do love Ms. Reynolds fresh take with her supernatural characters.

FYI: “Captive” is book 3 in Jennifer Reynolds SUPERNATURALS series. Captive contains explicit sex and several F-bombs. All three books in this series are standalone novels. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** September 9, 2019
Format/Typo Issues: No significant issues, aside from some repetitiousness, that could be trimmed out.

Not my and if you have triggers don’t read...

ok i will say that the first two books in the series were good and that was the reason i struggled thru this book as long as I did. I kept hoping it would get better. i finally had to jump the last 3 chapters to the epilogue to see...unfortunately, it just confirmed that i wasted my time.

Writers have the right to create their book world anyway that they would like. However, I will say that if your story line has threats of rape and the violence associated with that you might want to put a trigger warning notice somewhere for potential readers who have issues with that kind of thing.

REALLY Great Conclusion

Although I Loved The first 2 books in this series - Abby & Leigh's stories are awesome - don't miss them - book 3 - Captive - feels like "more." This story is a little darker but so full of action, information and emotions - it definitely keeps you engaged. (That's all you get story-wise. Free in KU)
Thank you for your time, talent and the stories!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series but the 2nd and 3rd were more about the sex and less about the plot. It was exhausting after awhile. Also, the super deep details were not necessary. When Talia went to the restroom, I don’t need to read that she “wiped”. TMI! Haha
