When your family may be in a little bit more trouble than you thought…
Clay
Our visit to the doctor ends a little differently than expected when I get a message from my younger brother Wes that he’s going into labour.
And when I reach the hospital, I don’t find the people there that I’d expect to find. Where is everyone?
Aiden
First the proposal this morning, then the visit at the doctors’, and then driving for hours to get to Wes in the hospital. Today isn’t really going according to plan. Both on the fun and the not so fun surprises.
But, as older brothers, what else are we supposed to do than trying to help when we feel like one of our siblings is in trouble?
This is the fourth novella about Alpha Clay and Omega Aiden in Making a Family, which takes place in the non-shifter Omegaverse Mates World and contains mpreg (male-pregnancy). This novella may include any of these steamy scenes, ‘I need tissues NOW’ moments, cries of ‘why, oh, why’ and cliffhangers that make you bite your nails (and curse the author).
Frankly, I’m quite disappointed with this book. This series started off great. I really loved the first and the second book in the series and the third book was ok. But, this, this 4th one, I don’t like it.
First of all, this feels like a diary rather than an actual novel. The stories are supposed to be about Clay and Aiden. Not about suffering siblings or family crisis. Call me insensitive but I really think this series is all about fun, cute, not serious and sweet alpha/Omega romance. If I wanted dread and suffering and misery, I’d have reread Wuthering Heights or The Great Expectation. Please!!!! Please let it pick up. Haven’t Aiden had enough yet? I wanna see a big wedding, Bright future with cute kids, and sweet and sexy romance with a bit of smut.
I do hope it changes in coming book though. Received ARC in exchange for an honest review
This episode focused more on the situation with Clay's brother Wes. Hadn't been expecting the story to shift in that direction but I was intrigued by Wes from when we first met him so I was pleased to see more of his story. Poor Wes is in a bad way and his situation breaks my heart. I want to punch his alpha in the face. Wes needs his big brother and his brother-in-law. I need to know more about what is going on with Wes and I need to know he's going to be ok. Great installment to the series.
Saving a Sibling (Making a Family 4): Omegaverse Non-Shifter Mpreg Gay Romance was graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review.
"Love and Dedication.."
*Happy sigh*...So, here's a question...perhaps philosophical in nature..but, one none-the-less, is it possible to miss a character(s) from a book? Any kind of book? What about a book that's published in installments, some longer than others? Rather than a book in it's entirety and published all at once? You better believe it!! SQUEEEEE! At first I thought it was a bit...different..to release a book this way, but...BUT! No way does this make a difference to me when it comes to a book that I've been eagerly reading for months now. I love it! And...so...YES! Profoundly YES! It is possible to miss a character(s) from a book, regardless of it's structure. I am so excited, to read the next installment of the Making a Family series, by Rosa Swann. As I continue to sit on the edge-of-my-seat as I read my way through this series, I can't wait to read the next installment, Saving a Sibling. *Giddy squeals*
One of the benefits of reading a story in multiple installments, is the ability to be reunited with characters who have come to be almost like old friends one has come to love. As Saving a Sibling, is a continuation, per se, of the main storyline, it was so exciting to read about the progression of Clay and Aiden's relationship. It was so nice to read about Aiden, the young man with the incredibly huge heart and also Clay, the young man who strives to do good for all, once again. While this particular installment appears to have deviated somewhat from the original plot, this sub-plot is one with a twist that was definitely gripping and emotional.
As both men begin to embark on their new and exciting and welcoming adventure together, they also begin to realize the importance of providing un-solicited support for others and therefor set about going above and beyond for family and friends. While this sub-plot is extremely strong in nature, and, has the potential to elicit additional powerful emotions, I felt there needed to be more depth. However, I also thought that the main plot had been over shadowed, in this installment, so any more depth might have drowned out the exciting information even more. I absolutely loved the secondary characters, and, felt all warm and fuzzy when they all came together and provided the much needed support where it was clearly needed.
I really liked this installment, and, loved reading about the progression of Clay and Aiden's relationship. I loved the selfless acts of this Alpha and Omega, and, was equally as grateful for their friends as well. I look forward to reading future books containing many of the secondary characters also sometime in the near future. Throughout this reading, however, I did find the writing to be..different..once again. While the pace was smooth, it was also confusing, and, seemingly basically written at times. There seems to be a need for another round of editing as well. Despite the differences within this particular installment; including a fade-to-black birth, as well as, confusion with the main plot, at times, I found it to be a gripping, emotional, suspenseful, and, heart-warming read.
We finally get to see what's going on with Wes and it's appalling. I kind of suspected what was going on back in Faking a Husband but the extent is pretty ridiculous. We don't get to meet his alpha but that confrontation is going to be big, I think. Clay isn't sure what to do but he knows that he has to do something. With Aiden's suggestions and concern for Clay's brother we get to see Aiden make suggestions and a grateful Clay. As a true partnership they get to care for Wes and his brood. They're committed to one another and providing a nurturing and safe place for those in need.
Aiden and Clay are coming together nicely. I was apprehensive about the quality of the story after the last book but this one redeems Aiden for me. He finally shows his strength and I like this new Aiden. With Clay's love and care he's growing and improving as a person because he no longer needs to do everything on his own. With the support of friends and family Wes now gets to have his own taste of the new Clay with a strong Aiden by his side.
Read and willingly reviewed this ARC for the author.
The plot is getting more complex with book 4. Or is it chapter 4? It still jars on me that this would be such an enjoyable read if it was all in one book rather than separate smaller books. In this 4th installment, Clay and Aiden are trying to help Wes after the birth of his latest child. It's nice to see the development of the relationship for both Aiden and Clay as more than just the mating. I have a feeling that the build-up of suspense with the Wes situation won't be more than just a case of an unfaithful or negligent husband but I'm looking forward to finding out. It's also interesting to see where things go with Zeke. Isn't he an Omega too? Could they end up as mates? Who knows. We'll have to wait and see. Sigh...
This installment had me looking at Clay a little differently. Of course he should take care of Wes; his brother is abused and starving. But seeing how he resented his family really put me off. Not his mom and Wes' husband, but he seems resentful of having to help Wes himself. He's willing to do it, but.......even thinking that it's not his responsibility........Alpha's should not act like that. He should be uber protective of his brother, ready to slay all his dragon's for him. Especially if his mother isn't willing to do so. Makes me wonder if he will resent Aiden in the future for becoming pregnant.
I'm really enjoying this series, I enjoy the characters and the story progression. I really want to know more about Wes, I feel awful for him and what he's going through - his alpha is clearly not taking care of him. Makes me wonder if he will get his own story, or we will just continue to read about him along with Clay and Aiden.
Enjoying this one - you definitely must start at the beginning since this is like a serial story, where each book is more like a new "chapter" - hoping the wait for the next one won't be long!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great story, I just wish it was put together in one book and not spread over so many. Clay has proposed to Aiden and now Wes has sent a text he is in labour early. Clay's romantic evening he had planned after the doctor appointment will have to wait, as well as their celebrating their own happy news. Upon arriving at the hospital to see Wes,it's Lear things are not good for him. They decide to take him and his kids back with them to the city. Thank goodness they have friends who can help them.
I am so hooked on this series now! Aiden said yes and now they get to find out if he is pregnant. Clay is so in love with Aiden (and baby Seb) and now they are getting married. This part of the series is as well written as the others and of course we have to wait to find out about the wedding and what is going on with Wes's family. I can't wait for the next book!
Wow! Poor Wes! I really want to know what happens with him. Clay and Aiden are moving forward, and more and more characters are become the focus of the story. I like seeing this but at the same time, they need to be front and center. I am hoping that it was just to bring this plotline into the story and that the next part will be more them. Wes needs to have his own story told where he gets a HEA, even though I don’t know if that even happens, that’s just what I want lol.
Great continuation of this ongoing series centering around Clay and Aiden. This one is a true roller coaster of emotions. I really like seeing Clay jump into big brother protector mode to help Wes even though he doesn't know exactly what is going on, but that is what big brothers are for. Hopefully we'll find out what is really going on with Wes and his alpha in the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is not a series but a book or maybe two offered to readers in installments. Makes more money for the author but irritating to readers at least this reader. That being said I loved the story and the characters. I wish I didn't. Instead I got hooked on the characters and have to see it to the finish. This seems to be how this author releases her stories. She is a good writer but unless she decides to release a book instead of installments, I will not be reading more of her stories.
Interesting development. I am very invested in this story at this point LOL. cannot wait til the next part. This installment is once again very well written and interesting .
great installment of this series, always love Aiden and Clay, my heart goes out to Wes....hoping his Alpha gets a lesson handed to him...can't wait for the next book!!!
The further I get in the box set the more I realize it was not a good deal. Even with the discount! Don't get me wrong I still like reading them but not for that price.
So, this is another installment of the Making a Family serial and this one…yeah…to me…this is about Clay and his family. This installment truly broke my heart. Just…broke it. I just feel so bad about Wes.
Clay’s brother Wes goes into labor and it’s more complicated than anyone thought it would be. When Wes’ mate Clay goes to Wes’ house to pick up some clothes for Wes and the kids and it totally not how Clay thought his brother lived. Wes had made a couple of comments a couple of novella’s ago about babysitting for his sister and yet, I don’t think Clay really understood what he meant until he went to Wes’ house. To see how Wes and the kids were living…yeah…that just really blew him away. I have to say that it was really nice to see Clay realize that there is way more going on in his family than he knows.
I have to say that Aiden being the sweetheart that he is…just made you fall a bit more in love with him. To see Aiden be there for Wes and right there with Clay in making sure that Wes and his kids are taken care of…yeah…just made me love him all the more. I feel as if Aiden going thru the things that he has as well as the things that he’s going thru…makes him even more wonderful in my eyes.
I’m happy that Clay proposed and they are excited about getting married as well as the pregnancy. It’s good to see these characters are still moving forward in their relationship and seeing that they both are going thru some family issues and it’s in fact bringing them closer.
