When tenacious writer Laney Stonewater ropes firefighter Lucas Moore into staying overnight at the supposedly haunted Cattleman’s Crossing Inn, both of them will get more than they bargained for. The inn was the site of a blaze that killed a man 20 years ago and left Lucas with a strange burn mark on his arm and memories he’d rather forget. Along with a psychic, the victim’s widow, and an amateur ghost hunter, Laney and Lucas set out to learn if Cattleman’s Crossing went up in flames due to a simple mistake…or something much more sinister.

I really enjoyed this story. The tough-as-nails journalist and soulful firefighter are both wonderful characters, and their backstories made me care about them even more. This story does what every good romance should do: make the reader believe that these two people are made for each other. It's an especially impressive feat that the author created such three-dimensional characters over such a short span of pages (this is a novella). The chemistry is great and so is the ghost story, which adds just enough suspense and creepiness to keep the reader engaged without taking her attention away from the love story.

Laney and Lucas are hot together but a ghost and a fire stand in the way of them finding out if they've got anything more lasting than sparks.
Lucas struggles with his past in a notable fire in the community where he is now a firefighter. There's not a day that goes by that he doesn't remember the thing that almost got him but did take his savior into the darkness that shouldn't have been real. And now a seriously hot woman won't take no for an answer when she asks him to relive his greatest fear and worst nightmare. But there's something irresistible about her and she brings out all his protective instincts.
Laney's struck by Lucas' magnetism more than she is by his potential to make a great story. She needs the story to get out from under the money and the lies of her past and a little thing like the word "no" isn't going to stand in her way. Lucas draws her in and she's determined to get to the bottom of his fear because she's sure there's nothing real about the ghost he's so afraid of.
Setting up a sleepover in the old hotel for the 20th anniversary of the Cattleman's Inn fire, Laney hopes to bring together the survivors and get a more in-depth story from the people who lived through it all in the place where it all happened. What she didn't plan for was that the stories might just be true. There was a twist that I really wasn't expecting and that made things more exciting. Not everything and everyone are as they appear.
Laney is great at thinking on her feet and I really enjoy her pluck as well as her creativity. Lucas is a little bit of a martyr and because he's so stuck in his past he hasn't learned or allowed himself to move forward. Until Laney busts through his carefully constructed walls and shatters everything he's willing to die for by being something to live for. I like where they leave things even though I want to read so much more about where they go from here. The dialogue is creative and honest for two people who struggle with pasts as well as their identity. They've got a real chance to heal and move forward individually but also together because we get a glimpse into their ability to bring out one another's strengths and vulnerabilities. Their HFN could very easily become an HEA. Definitely worth reading more from the world written around them.
There's a whole lot of getting-to-know-you that needs to happen, but for an HFN the MC's are finding that an HEA is within reach.

Ghost Fire was a fun read. A bit spookier than the author's other stories which I enjoyed.
Laney is writing a story for the 20th anniversary of the Cattleman's Crossing fire. One man died in the fire and to add a little more to the story she is trying to get the survivors back to stay the night there with her. To share their stories and add that personal touch even though she is a big ghost skeptic. She is sure it was just a normal fire and there is nothing to worry about.
Lucas is one of the survivors of the Cattleman's Crossing fire. He was only 9 when the fire happened and what he saw that night haunts him to this day. He doesn't want anything to do with that place. He definitely doesn't want to spend the night there. When Laney asks him to, when she asks him to share what happened so long ago, he tries to stay strong. But there is something there between them and this fireman can't say no forever. How can he say no and let her spend the night in that place? What if something were to happen to her and he wasn't there to try and help?
When the two of them spend the night, with a few other invited guests, things heat up pretty quickly. Will Laney be converted and believe in ghosts? Or will Lucas realize nothing happened all those years ago? This was a fun story and the author did a good job adding some spooky tension in there as well as the fun characters falling for each other. It was a lot of fun and a perfect Halloween read.

This is a well written and enjoyable novella. It has some lighter moments and some incredible chemistry between Laney and Lucas. There was also some very spooky paranormal parts and a fairly chilling finale.
I really liked both Laney and Lucas, we get a little background on them and, whilst the book was too short to really get to know them, they weren't flat or one-dimensional. In fact they both felt very real, and whilst neither fitted the 'normal' mould they were very believable too.
There is a lot packed into what was somewhere between a 60 and 90 minute read. The background to the story is set, the hero and heroine meet (twice) and we also learn about some other characters in the book. The pace was really good and there were some surprises and also unexpected plot twists. The always enjoy G.G. Andrew's writing and this book didn't disappoint.

Laney has a goal. She wants to write the story to get her noticed. She had the perfect one in mind. Lucas would rather forget that night at Cattleman's Crossing. But, he can't get Laney of his mind. If she's determined to go there, he can't let her go alone. He knows what he saw that night twenty years ago. The smell... Can it be happening again? Between the psychic, his old neighbor who lost her husband in the fire, the amateur ghostbuster kid, and Laney, Lucas sure had his hands full.

This short ghostly romance is well-written and develops at a good, slightly suspenseful pace. It's not really a scary story (unless you have a fear of fires), but it is a wee bit creepy.
I like the author's writing style. This story is not your average romance. There is an interesting mix of characters, and the strange happenings that bring them all together makes for a good story.

This story is great Halloween fun with a cute romantic twist.I loved it. Laney and Lucas have perfect chemistry. This a truly fun read to add a little spooky to your October. I requested an ARC so that I could provide an honest review.

Meh. Not really a fan of the characters. It was an interesting role reversal for the women to be jerks instead of it typically being the men.

ENTERTAINING BUT WEIRD

My third read from author G.G. Andrew and as much as I liked Somewhere Warm & Someplace Secret this 81 page short is better.
