Ruby Harrison is a glass-half-full kind of girl…except when it comes to her own love-life.
Having already lost in the game of love, she’s satisfied being a single mother. But when her seven-year-old daughter asks if she can find her a new daddy, Ruby reluctantly ventures back into the dating world with one the man can’t be a cowboy. Her condition for dating is challenged when she crashes into Tate Allred’s truck. The cowboy defies all her preconceived notions, turning Ruby’s life upside down and making her realize that hitting the cowboy’s truck might be the best thing that ever happened to her.
I dropped everything when I saw Cindy had a new book out! I didn't even bother reading the synopsis, I just dove right in. That's what I love about having favorite authors, you always know you're going to get a great story.
Ruby was such a likable character, very tough and sweet. I loved that although she had a rough upbringing and messy divorce, she was a devoted mother and kept a positive outlook on life. I love being around people like that and reading about characters like that. Tate was also a fun character, very charming and patient. Ruby and Tate have some great chemistry and wow, who knew hugging could be so swoony?! Needless to say, these two have some great chemistry! I really enjoyed their story and watching them fall in love. I have a seven year old daughter, so I could relate so much to the young girls in this book.
Overall, this was a fun read. Well written, swoony romance and a cozy setting with likable characters. All the things I love in a good book.
Content Romance: Clean, HUGGING! and kissing Language: None Violence: None Religious: None Series: Country Brides & Cowboy Boots, stands alone
I loved this cute, sweet romance! It was short, too short because I wanted more. There was a great build in chemistry and I was hooked from beginning to end. What a great diversion!
I struggled with this one simply because the whole premise of the story was inaccurate. The book starts with Ruby hitting Tates car. She then doesn't have money for the deductible to have his car fixed which leads to the arrangement for her to help Tate with her daughter as a way to pay for the deductible. However, liability insurance, which is for the damage you do to others, does not have a deductible... Something that most people could overlook but it detracted from the believability of the story for me. Once the story moved past that issue I started to enjoy it. These two need in other and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. There were some very tender moments with their 2 young girls. Overall a great book with a happily ever after ending. I love Cindy's writing style! She draws me in and I don't want to stop reading.
From start to finish, Cindy Roland Anderson tells a tale of clean romance that I recommend to all my sweet romance friends. It may be a bit of fantasy, however, to create a heroine that works as a waitress and who consistently spills food and drink on customers. But, then, this novella IS fiction after all.
I loved just everything about this great book! I loved that it was a quick easy read, it took me just over an hour to read it. I loved the characters, the plot, the situations, just everything about it! And the cover...so beautiful!
I love Ruby! She's such a fun character. It seems like things always go wrong for her. From dropping food all over the sheriff when she's working as a waitress at the diner to her ex-husband dumping her off, to hitting Tate's truck...just everything! Except that hitting Tate's truck gets her some pretty great stuff too. I love her cute daughter and just how hard Ruby works to be able to be there for her.
Then there's Tate. He's had to retire from the rodeo and he has custody of his niece and he doesn't really know how to be a parent to her. He's new in Pine Valley, and that's a bit hard for his niece because everyone already knows everyone else. I love that he was kind to Ruby, even though he was frustrated about his brand new truck that he really needed. I love the way he goes about trying to help her so that she can't pay him back and in some cases so that she won't even know that he's helping her. I loved that he was a gentleman.
I loved the love story in this one, the whole thing still leaves me sighing over just how great it was! This one is cute, it's clean and it's a quick read that will make you wanting more from this great author!
This is such a sweet, charming, and heartwarming book. I absolutely loved it.
I really appreciate it when author's write a book that don't include a ton of overused romance novel clichés. There is no other woman/man in this book. There is no conniving ex in this book. There are no overbearing, emotionally abusive relatives in this book. There is just a sweet story about a man and a woman meeting and developing a relationship.
Ruby has issues with trust, however, I wouldn't consider her emotionally stunted. She was guarded and perhaps a little too much at times. However, the author wrote her in such a way that I never got annoyed with her because of it. Her love for her daughter and how deeply and easily she cared for others outweighed any silliness she had about relationships.
Tate is everything Ruby thought she didn't want in a man. He proved her wrong almost immediately. It took her a little longer to believe him. I adored him and how desperately he wanted to do right by his niece. He also wanted to do right by Ruby and her daughter.
Ruby and Tate's relationship was sweet. There was an instant attraction but it's a slow burn sort of romance. They became friends first although that involved fighting their feelings for each other. Mostly because of Ruby and her reluctance to accept that Tate isn't like her ex-husband, that would have annoyed me but Ruby is such a great character that I willingly overlooked it. I loved the way their relationship grew based off hugs. HUGS! So sweet!
The little girls in this story, Avery and Lily, absolutely made the story. I found myself smiling constantly while reading this book. I also enjoyed the side romance between Willa and the Sheriff.
This is a lovely clean romance with no swearing and no sex. It is not a Christian romance (stipulation because of I have clean and Christian romances on the same shelf).
I guess I was a sucker for the term “accidental” in the title of this book. I have read some pretty clever “accidental” stories. This wasn’t one of them. Don’t get me wrong. This was a cute story and I liked it just fine. The characters were very nice. There was the promise of a HEA.
However, over all, I wanted something a little...different, something a little more. There was just a lot of cooking and kissing, movie watching and kissing, hugging and kissing, hair fixing and kissing, overcoming their hang ups and kissing, you-name-anything [I am not talking about sex] and kissing. I think the story needed more of a conflict or opposition, something bigger to overcome. This was more like: “couple meets, *bango* insta-love and passion, all hang ups melt away, they are together.” It read more like a novella. Maybe it was and I didn’t notice that up front.
I have normally loved everyone of this author’s books, so I feel bad about my lukewarm reception to this one.
-‘The air felt charged with enough energy that if someone were to light a match, there would be a huge explosion. “A kiss?” she asked, staring into his green eyes that had deepened to a shade that reminded her of an emerald. “Mm-hmm,” Tate said, as he brought her hand to his mouth and kissed the first injured finger. A delicious warmth curled inside Ruby’s stomach as he moved his mouth to kiss the tip of the second finger. “Feeling better?” he asked, moving to the next finger and placing a soft kiss there.’-
Excellent book. Love the steamy, clean romance. ❤️ A quick, light read, perfect for an escape by the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows - or any time of year. Highly recommended.
This was a great book! Ruby was a loving single mother who rose above hard circumstances to make a good life for her daughter. Tate's southern drawl and Thank you Ma'am made him one of my favorite fictional men. Avery and Livy added to the warm fuzzy feel of the book. I would love to see these characters show up in another book.
Absolutely delightful. Life's hard for anyone who has lost a love. But life is better when love finds a way to heal a broken heart. These are the lessons that I found in this story.
Cute story of accident prone Ruby and her daughter meeting Tate and his neice. Both Ruby and Tate have suffered the loss of their parents as children. Ruby ended up in foster care and Tate ended up with an abusive grandfather. Ruby running into Tate’s truck makes for a rough start. What will it take to get these two together?
When this couple meets it was with a bang...Her vehicle hits his truck. With his niece and her daughter things get mixed up. Will either ever admit the attraction each feels? This was a clean romance.
This was a really sweet story with great characters. I loved the chemistry between these two and I also loved the little girls in the story. A really sweet, clean romance.
This is a wonderful story of how a good man can restore the faith of a woman who has been hurt by a worm of a man. The little ones are adorable. And I love the good things that are brought on by Hugs.
This was a really quick read. I liked that while the relationship progresses quickly (which seems like it is the author’s MO) they still got to know each other in that time. Also, I love when couples hug; it is so much better than reading about kissing all the time. Kisses only.
Fun afternoon read. I won't say mindless....more like transporting yourself into the characters lives and life around you just goes on. I am in my book living the happily ever after.
A sweet and clean romance. I thought Ruby and Tate’s first intro was cute. Just wished for a bit more depth to the story, but this author’s books are good when I’m in the mood for something fun and light-hearted.
LOVE This cute sweet fun romance!! Cindy is one of my favorite authors. This book will make you smile, and giggle while keeping you on the edge of your seat.
I really enjoyed this story of the power of love to heal our wounds. The relationship between Ruby and Tate was so romantic and tender. Highly recommend!
Ahh. So good! It was a page turned from the start so fun. I love Ruby's spunky attitude and the way they fall in love. Sweet story with the perfect end.
