So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

4.5 AMAZED STARS
If you love the show Supernatural then you are 100% missing out not reading this series. I am blown away. For so long I had the first book on my kindle and I just never gave it a go. Big mistake on my part. This series has blown me away and I'm happy there is an off-shoot series because I am so not ready to let these characters go. I could go on and on about this series. I truly loved every minute of it and I'm sad to see this volume end. I'm looking forward to more and would absolutely recommend everyone read this book. It does have it's dark moments and the author can get graphic. But when we're talking about demons and Hell, you can't expect sunshine and roses!

Wow, I can't believe that it's over. I know there are the crane stories but this series is finished. We what can I say this was quite tame compared to the others. Maddie had to grow into her powers and prepared to sacrifice herself for everyone. She defeated the demon and gave up most of her powers. I wonder what the crane diaries will bring for her?

Amazing must read!!

This is the final chapter in the Ghost Files series but not Emma Rose Crane or as she’s best known “Mattie Louise Hathaway and I’m freaking awesome.” I’ve read every single book in this series and each story throws you for a loop. The storyline is brilliant and drags you in and forces you to finish reading it before you can put it down and do anything else. The amazing thing about Apryl Baker and The Ghost Files is that it’s unpredictable you can think you know what’s going to happen next but you’re almost always wrong! I’m very happy with this story and I’m sad that it’s ending because I loved every chapter and every character in each story and I know that in the next series you won’t get to see some or most of the previous characters. I do want to mention that I absolutely LOVE Benny Malone and I hope to see him in future books because he’s freakin awesome. I also am a little mad and heartbroken about a certain character that I don’t want to mention for fear of giving away any spoilers BUT if you read this story than you’ll know what I’m talking about!!

These series is OKAY. Somewhere in between. I don't like the overall story. Or where it went. When I first read the story (wattpad book1) I superduperenjoyed it. BUT when I learned to know more about the story, I dunno but I think Mattie is too predictable. Most of the times she's annoying. SERIOUSLY! Haha! Don't get me wrong I LOVED her GUTS. But she's SUPER ANNOYING! LOL! REDUNDANT!

I don't know if I'll continue reading the next series which is THE CRANE DIARIES. Maybe, just maybe this story is not for me. *wink*

Anyways, KUDOS Miss Baker! I admired you since book 1. :) I might consider reading your other books! Yay!

Recommended to those who loves YA and ghost stories, not too heavy novels. I considered this a light read. lels! :D

Ohhhh my day's... still crying. These books are more than just a great read, they have heart. I put off reading this one for a while, I didn't want it to end!
There is a bit of Mattie in us all; her fierce protective nature and a kindness that could teach the world a thing or two. Part demon, part reaper and human... Mattie is a force to be reckoned with.
To say I enjoyed this collection is an understatement! So looking forward to the next chapter, in New Orleans. Thank you Apryl... God Bless 😊

This is the final book in Apryl Baker's series The Ghost Files and she sends Mattie and company off with a bang! I loved it!

In The Ghost Files 5 Mattie, Officer Dan Richards, and the Malones work together to try to save little Benny Malone and Mary Cross from the fallen Angel Deleriel. Mattie finally discovers who and what she is, what her purpose is, why Silas has such a vested interest in her continued survival and more. She's Mattie Hathaway and she's freaking awesome!

Great Series

I really hope this makes it in the tv world because this series was AMAZING!! I got spooked, I got mad, I laughed, and I cried but I never knew what was coming next while reading these books. I kinda didn't want the story to come to an end, but you know how the saying goes.........`all good things must come to an end' I can't wait to see what else the author has up her sleeve, because she has definitely gained a new fan. {Looking for more of her books right now ;-) }

Amazing wrap up

Goodness I think I cried in just about every one of these books. There that good at making you connect and love the characters. You just want a happy ending so bad because of all the bad the characters went through. I hope we see more of Benny because he so stinking cute. And I’m glad about Silas. As mean and evil as he is he loves. Can’t wait for the next adventure

The Ghost Files Series is the best series I’ve read.
I usually have to read 30-40 pages to be able to decide if it’s a good enough book for me to continue reading or not. The Ghost Files books got me hooked from the first pages. I LOVE the story that makes you laugh, cry, think and sometimes mad.
I am so obsessed with the story and excited to get to know how it continues. THANK YOU for such a talented and awesome writer. Apryl Baker you are amazing!!!

Satisfied and Disappointed

***A few spoilers***

Honestly, I do not read nor have I read any other books by this author but I came across this series more than a year ago and fell in love with it.

I am happy the series finally has an ending but this last book, I feel was poorly thrown together. The book starts of with a very confusing bit of perspective/point of view. There was a moment where Mattie and Zeke are in a car and it was hard to decipher at times who was talking. This problem started early in the book and continued throughout. I don't remember this being such a noticeable problem in the previous books.

There were also several noticeable typographical errors which were one to many for a book of this length.

My final complaint is the disregard for some of the characters. Dr. Olivet for example seemed prominent at one point and then non-existent the next. I understand Mattie's trust issues and the once broken...thing she has going on but I don't feel like his part of the story closed out naturally. Instead it just came off like oh yeah there was that guy, I forgot about him, I'll just say he had a family emergency....really?!

In addition, I don't think Mattie's 'mother' received due diligence either. Especially considering what she was. I'm still not even quite sure I even understood her role completely or her capabilities. As a goddess, could she stay on this plane without inhabiting someone else? Did she happen to hijack that particular woman who wanted to sacrifice a baby but she didn't want to? Was she two sides of the same coin or two different people? I was under the impression a kind goddess inhabited the body of a human woman who made a deal with a demon and the goddess caused this woman to break the deal. Deleriel took the human woman and kept her "trapped" for 15 years which is why she was in the institution. He let her go saying he needed her for something I think but that was lost in translation for me. ****Seriously, if someone else gets that part of the story beginning to end of the correlation of those two women please explain it to me**** Because if the goddess left her daughter because she couldn't stay for obvious reasons then is Mattie just mad over abandonment issues? It seems each mother tried to save her but in different ways. One tried to save her by forcing someone else to break a deal with a demon and the other stabbed her. Again, I really need the role of Rhea explained to me.

I have a few more issues but I'm going to leave them for now. I'll save them up for when I re-read the whole series again.

A wonderful conclusion to such a story. This review is going to full of spoilers. Honestly, if you're looking at reviews of book five (which is the series finale) I would hope you've read the series and this book.

This was sort of an emotional roller coaster for me. In all honesty, I much prefer Eli over Dan. I've always felt her and Dan were more like siblings. When Eli came into the picture, I loved him damn near instantly and hated the curse so, so much. I think Baker navigated this amazingly though for the people, like me, who loved Eli a lot. There were a lot of lose ends for Mattie, and I felt incredibly satisfied. Even if it meant losing Eli, Mattie was still given the time to voice her needs and had an amazing cast around her who understood. In the end, I was okay with Mattie and Dan being together.

Mattie's revelation of being a quite literal Goddess (or demi-goddess I guess?) was a shocker. I almost expected to her be part angel. I was worried she would become something even more powerful but I liked that it was a temporary boost and it did not feel like Mattie was going to be nearly the strongest being in the universe. I also liked that the final battle was not made more complicated than it needed to be. It was a simple ending and yet I was still panicking Mattie had sacrificed not only her, but Dan as well. I was holding in tears while Mattie had a chance to speak to both Mothers.

Of course there's things I did not like. I found the cast of Dan, Eli and Zeke suffocating. They were constantly a mess of hugging and panicking and freaking their hearts out. I liked each character but there were moments where I was ready to lock them in a room away from Mattie so she could get a few minutes to breath. Silas had become my favourite supporting character despite the fact he was ruthless and did some very bad things. He was not overwhelming and you could feel the hidden love under the threats to kill Benny.

Baker has brought us on a long, painful journey filled with hope and had it's moments of happiness. I would stay up reading at night in the dark and be terrified of ghosts coming out to hunt me. This is the first series I've read that legitimately scared me. It sounds like there's another series continuing on Mattie's adventures in New Orleans but honestly, I don't know if I will be ready to walk away from this.

Stunning emotional conclusion of Mattie Hathaway/Emma Rose’s life before New Orlean’s! It was forshaadowed that an important Character was going to die..
“Kane takes a seat beside me. “I’m not going to tell you everything’s going to be okay, because it’s not. This isn’t going to end well for someone, kid. Best you can do is hope is to minimalize the casualties.”
I won’t say but oh I cried at the end! If you have read the books in order then you know this is the showdown with Delerial (the fallen angel who “protects” kids) and Mattie, and it is.. easier than I thought. It was hyped that he was so impossible to beat.. but I guess with the extra characters who came in to help, it makes sense that Delerial was blinded by greed. I’m excited to know that Mattie will have new adventures in New Orleans and I hope that we will see Dan, Silas and Mary! She also has a new pet!! Mattie finally figured out the 3rd supernatural piece of her heritage is, I knew.. it was a duh for me but I thought that Apryl revealed it in a really cool way! Surprises are in store!! I’m sad, and happy that everything fell into place esp. family which ris really important and a central theme of the characters and orphans. The author has a little preface in which she says she wrote this book for orphans and hoping that the orphans or even anyone will speak out when they see someone being abused by their caretaker! I never knew that their was a spark that ignited the author to push through and write this incredible heartfelt, paranormal triumph of a series!! That was really cool to hear from Apryl Baker! Happy Reading! Can’t wait to meet you all in New Orleans!

I'm both happy and said this story came to an end.

I really enjoyed this story and all the characters we met in the books.
I felt bad for Eli and his fam. Also, I couldnt stand him from how at book 3 he went to being overly possesive over Mattie and wanting to start a relationship with him to by book 5 having a kind of hatred toward Mattie for all that had happen to him. But, I guess it made it easier for the readers to want to have Mattie be with Dan than to be with Eli.
I think Silas was a surprising character, because he wasn't all bad as it seemed when it came to Mattie.
And, Dan . Oh Dan I really hope he is in the new series with Mattie somehow. I really want them to be an endgame. So much happened with them that they need to have a HEA.

ALSO! on a sidenote I'm sad we never got to hear about what happened to Jake/Eric again, but maybe they will meet up in a new series

4.5 stars

I will try not to spoil this for others; the reason for the 4.5 star rating vs a 5 star rating is due to the ending. It felt a little rushed, and I hated, HATED that a certain person died!! Why did that character have to die? I just don’t get the logic...perhaps this character will come back in the Crane Diaries...one can only hope.

As for Mary...the need to know what she went through is giving me a headache! I really like Mary, but if I hadn’t read Ghost files 3.5 I would’ve never seen any real growth in her character. She was so important to Mattie, and yet she didn’t really have any depth. Additionally, her romance with Caleb hasn’t been fully explored so...I’m really hoping for more insight to Mary’s life (she absolutely needs therapy, and I am so glad that the author made sure to add, several times, that they knew they needed professional help - well done).
All in all, I love, love, LOVE this series, and will always keep Apryl Baker (BRILLIANT WRITER!!) on my favorite authors list!

I read the whole series and gave the series a 3 star review

I read this entire series and was unsure how I felt through the whole thing. To be honest the potential was there and it had me hooked and that’s the only reason I gave it a 3 stars! The book series was clunky, didn’t flow naturally, and added random new facts which were obviously an afterthought by the author and not seeded properly through the book. There was continuity errors throughout and the main character seemed to be surrounded by eligible attractive men who she was typically cringey and teenage with her descriptions and interactions. But in saying this it’s not a romance book at all! There is the odd kiss here or there and vows of platonic love, familial love and real love but honestly I don’t think any of the characters knew anything about their feelings and it really showed in the clunkiness of the writing. It read more like a fan-fic than a novel. But like I said the premise was fantastic!! It had so much potential! 3 stars!!

Mattie Hathaway has been through it all this past year. Now Mattie must face the Fallen Angel Deleriel to save her family. She will do anything to get Benny and Mary back, even if it means giving up her soul. Mattie will have to learn to embrace the different parts of her; Reaper, Demon and another part she is forced to discover.
On top of everything Mattie must make the ultimate choice Dan or Eli? In the end which boy has her heart and soul? Will Mattie be able to live with herself once the choice is made?
Apryl Baker has done it again. This was a perfect way to end The Ghost File series. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. Just when I thought I figured out the story something else would happen and change everything. I love Mattie and Eli together and also Dan and Mattie together. It was definitely a hard choice for Mattie to make. I love this entire series!!

Fkn Dan!!! 🙄 Still here. Mattie is annoying. Constantly bringing up how so many people have betrayed her, but the ones who actually have get a free pass. Claire tried to kill her as a child but no that's ok. "She loved me and was doing the best she could to protect me." Btch that's not love. That's weakness. Meanwhile, Rhea, her actual mom gave her to someone whom she thought would protect her but that's so unfathomable and unforgivable. Fkn Danny tells her he loves her and then she's in the hospital recovering from almost dying. This fool starts dating her best friend while she's in a coma. She can forgive the groomer but not Meg. Don't get me started on the mistreatment of Eli. He deserved so much better. I hope the Reaper Chronicles do right by him. Idk if I want to read about Mattie's escapades in New Orleans because I know for a fact that Bastard will be there lol.

Rant aside, the story is still interesting and I really enjoyed it.

SPOILER ALERT!

I totally had a breakdown when Eli dead. No lie.

Kindle ebook, Loc: 3387.
He coughs, and blood spews out. The ambulance screeches to a halt, and paramedics are swarming us, but it’s too late. I know it. I lean down and whisper, “I love you too, Elijah Malone.” He smiles, his lips brushing my cheek. He heard me. I only hope he knows I meant it. I do love him.

After all 5 volumes of this book, Eli decided he can just die like that? Absolutely Not!
I hate Eli for dying on Mattie. Not to mention I, myself, sometimes hate Eli because of his stupidity, but I’m so not prepared for this to happen to him. I don’t think if my heart could ever go back to the way it was, not after all these chaos.

Anywho, The Cranes Dairies you say? Sign me up for that! I can’t wait to see Emma Rose Mattie Hathaway Crane again. Really looking forward to that.

Ok, so I've finished the series, and I did like it, but what keeps nagging at me is that the writer leaves too many open questions.
I know she won't read this, but still, go through your book at the end and make sure you don't leave doors open (except if it's to fulfil a purpose).
A couple of examples :
She could have at least saved the souls of those poor tortured girls. (Book 4)
You can't make someone go from not knowing a prayer before a meal (Book 1) to super religious in the end.
What happened to hellhound Ginger (I guess she died, but we can only guess, Book 5)
Did the curse between Mattie & Eli die forever with the dead of the Fallen Angel?
Did she ever get to warn the priest about his cancer (Book 4)?
I could go on forever, but I won't because you'll stop reading, lol. But that's really the only thing that bothers me. Please close those doors.

Whether it is Mattie Hathaway or Emma Rose, the girl has a job to do and there’s no avoiding it. Being the Ghost Girl has never been so complicated and her level of danger has just been upped about a thousand-fold. If anyone can save the day, the kid, or the world, it’s Mattie but there are a few surprises along the way.
Mattie is the kind of character who exhausts the reader but no matter how many times she gets knocked down she gets back up again and that is why we love her. This series has been brilliant from the start and I’d recommend it all day long so, Baker, if you're telling me we’ve seen the last of Mattie I won’t believe you. Some characters have a life of their own and this character isn’t done yet.

The finale...

I enjoyed reading Mattie's story through all books. She grew as a person and I could feel that change through each page. A lot of what I read was hard to wrap my mind with in the concept of supernatural beings. But Apryl Baker sure thought out the storyline. The only qualms I have about the series is the constant repeats. Now, I understand that when a book comes out it takes months before the next one so the reader needs that reminder. But when it's overdone as in this last one, it became tedious to read. I found myself saying I know this out of frustration instead of saying nice reminder. That should not deter anyone from reading the series though, because the character development and growth, the concept and storyline were well written.

I'm not going to start from the very beginning, but instead keep it short.
WHEN you have emersed yourself into the mind and thoughts of this 16 year old white girl who is best friends with the mayors daughter, dating the popular football boy etc... ITS SO WORTH ALL THE SMALL THINGS THATS WILL ANNOY YOU ABOUT MATTIE.
I promise, it's such a good story.
I honestly thought I was reading like an 8th grade version of the CW's Supernatural... but to my delight and shock, its wasn't as terrible as it could have been.
I LOVE the character dynamic between Dan and Mattie. It made the deaths hit so much harder knowing that they will always choose each other. That had me kicking and screaming as if I too, were a teenage girl again.
I fly through this series so fast, I may have to go back to fill a few hole.

Theres so much to go through, I have thoughts on EVERYONE. Drop a name if you want to talk about it.
(ALSO... I heard a movie is to some out about these books..."
yall heard anything else? o_O

Mattie Louise Hathaway is awesome!!!

This ending was spectacular. I literally couldn't put it down. This isn't my normal genre but I could not be more in love with these characters, every single one of them, demons included. I for one will be first in line to purchase a ticket if it makes it to the big screen. This series hooked me from the first pages and tore at my heart till the end. Bravo. A must read series. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm sad, I don't want it to end. Mattie deserves her happily ever after... and I'm even going to miss Silas. Officer Dan, squirt needs you, and I need more.

OMG AMAZING!
I was soooo happy to see the last story! This book was one of my favorites in this series. So many things that went on in it! Wow!

You had to say goodbye to some characters, which was sad, but in the end everything happened for a reason and worked out!
I still love Mattie a lot! Her character is so strong. Dan is..... well Dan!

I loved the action and all the love in this story.
Like the other stories in this series I found some mistakes but nothing too overly bad.

And a surprise at the end of the story I didn't see coming! All I'll say is THANK YOU Apryl Baker! Thank you!

Loved it and sad to see it done

I had forgotten about this series as it took some time for this last one. As I scrolled along I found it was published! I was so excited to get into this and was in for the ride. I was shocked by the ending and sad that it had to be that way. Ugh love! I’m hoping that April does come out with more and since this is a last year book I’ll be seeing if she has already this year. So much can happen for Mattie and Mary! The untold story of her dad too?!! So much there for so many books that I hope she writes. I truly enjoyed this entire series! Sad to see it end but what a good ending it had.

The conclusion of the Ghost Files series is bittersweet. Mattie has been through so much tragedy in such a short period of time, however she has remained steadfast in her convictions. Her love of family and her will to keep them safe is extremely evident in this book.
I highly recommend this book. It is extremely well written, the characters are relatable.
In this book, we find out who will hold Mattie’s heart, Eli or Dan. Also, Mattie is facing the fallen angel who has been collecting children. We also find out what the final part of Mattie’s heritage.

I have been a huge fan of this series since book 1. The story line is compelling, the characters are likable and totally relatable, and the writing is very well done. This book is definitely no exception. I feel like I can't say enough great things about it! I can't remember the last time a book left me feeling so emotional, and stuck with me for so long after I finished reading it. While I am sad to see this chapter in Mattie's life end, I can't wait to see what happens next with the new series!!
