“[A] gruesomely realistic thriller...saturated in steamy erotica” —Grady Harp, Amazon Top 100 Reviewer

Cold-hearted murder and smoldering hot sex explode in this fluid-drenched erotic gay mystery about a blossoming new romance and a youth-obsessed serial killer.

Gay men are mysteriously disappearing from the city of Nashville. There are no bodies, no evidence of a crime, and police are turning a blind eye to the pattern. But this is the South, where juicy gossip and sordid rumors spread like wildfire. Is a murderer at large, stealthily slaughtering innocent victims? And if so, who is he, and how can he be stopped?

Meanwhile, Roger Willis just turned forty. He's newly divorced and struggling to find his place in the gay dating scene. Instant access to sex is available through apps, and a careless stranger can reject him with a single swipe to the left. Cool, callous technology has replaced the warmth of getting to know someone through eye contact, a friendly handshake, and casual conversation. His dream of finding love again is beginning to feel hopeless.

Everything changes when a handsome young man named Ben Hudson comes along, and suddenly Roger's world doesn't seem so lonely. There's relationship potential, but Roger has secrets. He didn't survive four decades and a failed marriage without a few skeletons in his closet. What will happen when Ben flings the door open and the secrets come spilling out?

Lies will be told. Hearts will be broken. Fluids will be spilled. It's going to be a bloodbath.

Rip the mask off! Reveal the secrets underneath!

‘Lonely gay male seeks snuggle buddy. Serious inquiries only.’

California author Nathan Bay made an impressive debut with KING OF THE SEA. Nathan continues to demonstrate his up front artistry by designing the covers of his novels from his own photographs. Solid steps suggest that Nathan is a professional artist and his debut assured his position among writers of gay romance and fiction. Or as he phrases it, his novels are ‘about ordinary people faced with extraordinary circumstances. His characters fight for love while fighting to save their lives, pitted against the dark forces of evil who threaten to take it all away.’ Add to that an appreciation and gift for the value of well-scribed erotica and Nathan Bay is present.

To taste the unique flavor of his gruesomely realistic thriller/erotic novel it is only necessary to read the first page to witness how seductive Nathan scribes – ‘It was a day so perfect, he just knew something bad was going to ruin it. Isaiah could feel it in the pit of his stomach; that sick, prickly sense of dread that always came along just when things were going his way. He wondered if it was intuition or a self-fulfilling prophecy. Was he sabotaging his own happiness? His mother called it the law of attraction. "Whatever you think about, you wish into existence." She didn't come up with it herself, she learned about it from this lady named Oprah, back when Isaiah was younger. That's all he heard about until he was in junior high, and then his mother learned about feng shui. Feng shui was the ancient Chinese art of getting rid of pointy things. They had to throw out all their nice furniture because it had sharp edges. Some of it had been in the family for generations. Isaiah's nana was furious. Everything was replaced with round furniture from Ikea. Then his mom moved around the rooms in their home to re-align their chi-chi. Or was it chai? Isaiah pondered. Starbucks makes something called Chai Latte. That can't be right. Well, it was something with a "ch" sound. She'd made him move his bed into the laundry room because she said that's where his success corner was. According to her, he'd grow up to have a healthy, prosperous future and lots of luck in love. She was divorced, and he was an only child, so there was a lot of pressure to do well. He'd just turned eighteen in August and started his senior year. He couldn't say for certain if his good chai had paid off, but he made mostly A's and B's in school, and the laundry room's next-door proximity to the garage made it super easy to sneak out and hook up with boys. Yay for that. But today felt different. The sky was a bright blue that made the whole world look like a happy place. There were no clouds, just golden rays of sunlight. It was the second weekend in September, and the oppressive heat and humidity of Tennessee's summer was fading into crisp coolness. Soon the tree leaves would be turning over to autumn's fiery color palette. The hot guy in the driver's seat, DownlowMo, was taking him on a leisurely ride through the countryside. His stupid screen name was forgivable because he was dad-as-fuck. Yum. Late thirties, early forties, maybe. Isaiah couldn't tell, but he was way older with dark hair, combed back in thick, luscious waves. His strong, square jawline made his face look like it was carved from stone. He was a real gentleman too...etc.’ A rather innocent opening to a bloodbath to come saturated in steamy erotica.

But Nathan supplies a fine synopsis for his strange story: Cold-hearted murder and smoldering hot sex explode in this fluid-drenched gay erotic thriller about a blossoming new romance and a youth-obsessed serial killer. It's going to be a bloodbath.’

Very fine writing, this, and a signal that there is a strong new voice with unique characteristics surfacing in California. Keep an eye on this young artist.

I was drawn into this story from the very first sentences:
It was a day so perfect, he just knew something bad was going to ruin it.
Isaiah could feel it in the pit of his stomach; that sick, prickly sense of dread that always came along just when things were going his way. He wondered if it was intuition or a self-fulfilling prophecy. Was he sabotaging his own happiness?
Against a backdrop of mysterious deaths of young gay men in Nashville, 40-year-old Roger reinvents himself as a sexy lumbersexual (after the end of a 20 year relationship with his ex-husband) and ventures into the world of dating. After meeting gorgeous 24-year-old Ben at a bar, the two men quick move into a relationship that is sweet (and very sexy). But when Ben learns that Roger has kept an important secret from him, that's a deal-breaker.

I really enjoyed the first 65% of this story, but then things got ... weird. The answer to the serial killer story seemed too fantastical with a lot revealed very quickly, and personally I needed a scene or two more (or an epilogue) to really bring the story to a satisfactory close.

I would give the first part of this book 4.5 stars, but the bizarre murder/mystery solution came out of nowhere and the ending felt too rushed. 3.5 stars overall, and I would definitely read more by Nathan Bay.

YOUNG FOREVER is a fun, hot, and sexy thriller with gay-themed mystery and romance that is developed in layers from beginning to end. The book is set in Nashville and is written in a way that the city comes to life as a character as well. The story takes off as gay men begin disappearing without a trace and law enforcement are not inclined to investigate too deeply.

Roger Willis is the protagonist who is newly divorced and looking for love (and sex) through the apps that have changed the way men meet each other for better or for worse. Yes, the sex is instant, easy, and readily available. But, Roger wants more than that and begins to despair at ever finding love again. Roger’s love life (and other parts) begin to come back to life when he meets Ben, who is young, handsome, and sexy, the old fashioned way – at a bar one night.

Not everyone is what they seem at first and the layers are pulled back on secrets in ways that build suspense and tension that kept me turning the pages until the very end. If you are looking for a sexy thriller that packs in a search for love, you will enjoy YOUNG FOREVER.

5 stars!

Let me just say, this is not romance, nor a standard romantic suspense novel. It starts as a murder mystery with the murderer and a victim in a rather crude sex scene. It switches to Roger on his 40th birthday, at a bar for the first time after divorcing from his husband of 20 years. Ben, who states he’s 24, responds to Roger and they begin seeing each other, accompanied by sex scenes that are quite raw and honest, not the romanticized kind found in my usual reading. It read quite well, with the men falling for each other, until Roger reveals a huge secret that he stupidly kept from Ben. Ben breaks up with him and then the story becomes really screwy. Ben’s friends are characters from a prior book that I guess was more sci-fi and they get added into events that descend into bad horror story territory and ending as a cliffhanger. I suppose a sequel is coming because so much about Roger and even more about Ben was just left dangling. It became far too absurd for me though, when I was expecting a straight-up, more realistic murder mystery. 3 stars though because I did read the whole thing fairly easily.

Giving this book a fine 5 stars rating! The author has chosen to give his mystery storyline a twist of reality and really makes the reader think about life and that anything may happen at any time. Without giving too much of the story, Roger and Ben really are meant for each other at the end regardless of the lies and conflicts they had to experience and the deaths they had to witness. One of them must suffer! Who will it be? Read it and find out! ;) Young Forever definitely kept me flipping pages until the end. Fantastically written for the authors only second book. Keep them coming!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I was surprised that it ended so abruptly that I just sat here shaking my head. The mystery was done well as was Ben and Roger's story. The two woven together was brilliant. Kudos Mr. Bay.

I do think this is by far the best of the three books. My biggest criticism of these books are the characters. I don’t connect with them. The stories are fine, but I don’t feel compelled to root for them. It’s fine.

This was a very addicting, albeit short read! It's a well-written thriller/romance balance, while also providing some excellent commentary on the gay community as a whole. I was interested in how the two seemingly separate stories (the mystery and the romance) would be relevant to one another until they suddenly were.

Both the antagonist of the book and Roger share similar fears surrounding growing old, which I think everyone has to some extent but is much more prevalent in the gay community because snap decisions are made based on appearance so often. This kind of social commentary, served up by the central protagonist and the antagonist as personality traits, was a really nice touch.

I was a bit confused by Max's motives surrounding the murders, but it's not something that detracts away from the discovery of the purpose of his crimes.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a central thriller/mystery balanced against romance plots, a la Jane the Virgin or Devious Maids. A really excellent read!!

Not quite: sci-fi, or mystery, or romance

Very uneven book. Starts out creepy almost sci-fi, drugged murder..... Not quite sure here bcause this scene is foreshadowing and not enough to really develop this part of the story. Secondary characters weren't developed much past the poont of cartoon. Which I suppose is the point of underdevelopment because the author includes a chapter at the end of the book to induce us to buy the next book in this series. The problem is that I didn't find any of the characters interesting enough to continue the series.

The characters weren't badly described, they just weren't developed enough to be unique and interesting.

The author did do a good job of suspense and tension with the story. He wasn't confusing, the way some authors are. with too many contradictory details that I just skip ahead a page or two until the story makes sense. This author doesn't make the mistake of confusing too many frustrating details with just enough detail to create tension.

Some of the story situations weren't realistic for me. The whole divorce subplot was ridiculous. It started to read like a bad, straight, divorce from the 1960's. Two independent gay men, with different careers, marry and divorce in the 21st century, and one gives up his career to be a dependent stay-at-home dad after the divorce? REALLY?? Or the child custody situation in a deep southern state like Tennessee where a spouse with no DNA connecrion is allowed on the birth certificate, much less granted custodial/parental rights? A little research would have shown this to be impossible for most of the south. Tn isn't Ca, or Il, Ma, or NY where this does happen.

3 stars seems right as there was good editing for grammar and spelling, but content could have been better researched and character development could have been better, too.

1.25⭐️

This is a "gruesomely realistic thriller" in the targeting and police neglect of young gay men, not so much in any other way, which would have been fine if the story had more to offer. To me the story went from being a compelling thriller to a thriller-style telenovella, which I found extremely disappointing.

It starts off great: the depiction of how the killer operates and the introduction of Roger and Ben are really solid and set up the tone/story well. Then once the MCs are coupled off, all the characters just seem to operate as contrivances for whatever the narrative needs.

Maybe bc the story doesn't spend much time developing the MCs' personalities but their (mostly Roger's) behavior and dialog swing wildly about. The person we start with disappears, and everyone is swept along in drama with no setup and in some cases no payoff as the third act kicks in and Ben is suddenly someone else to move the action along. I actually thought where the MCs end up is interesting, but getting there is a hot mess.

Roger meets Ben at a club on his fortieth birthday, and also meets Ben's friends who significantly added to the plot element towards the end of the story. There's a serial killer in town and gay men are disappearing. I enjoyed the author's style of writing, and how the characters eventually intertwine and my questions are answered. I must say, that it's not often that I read about a mortician, so that idea was very unique and imaginative. The characterization is excellent, and I was definitely immersed in this thrilling read (a real nail biter, even though I don't bite mine) =). The only thing that bothered me was the somewhat abrupt ending, since I really wanted a bit more. I don't want to spoil this too much, so all I'll say is I wanted a bit more with the two main characters. Ultimately, this was quite an awesome read. :)

3 and a half stars rounded up to 4.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. I was not asked for a review but thought it only fair.
I haven't read any books by Nathan Bay before and I quite enjoyed this. I preferred the first half of the books as the author managed to keep me on the edge of my seat. I had no idea who the killer was and I wanted to keep reading.
I thought that the 2nd half was a little rushed but finding out who did it was satisfying.
Mr bay is obviously a talented author and his book is very well edited. Poor editing is something which really annoys me.
I will be reading more books by Nathan Bay.

I was invested in the characters pretty quickly. I was yelling at Isiah - go with your gut, always go with your gut when you're in an erotic thriller! I was drawn in quickly with the first chapter. Good character development in the book, even for characters who aren't in the story much. And who can resist a serial killer? Initially, I was hoping for a vampire but serial killer works too. Bay is good with adding a twist to the story and it's a good one in this book. I was disappointed in the end because it wasn't clean and I don't know if I'm going to get more of the story! Way to leave a person hanging!

I have to admit surprise and pleasure. This romance novel, set in Nashville, about a recently divorced 40-year old and his new, younger passion picked up at his first night at a bar was much more than the typical gay connection story. With deception/omission being an issue, the story cleverly interweaves a crime spree and yields an unexpected ending, albeit leaving open developments for a sequel.

This was an InstaFreebie download.

No HEA here. Sigh.
This was a thriller with mm content. The story felt stilted and was very much driven by the suspense element, not the characters.

I hadn’t read the first 2 in the series, tbh. But that wouldn’t have changed my views on the writing style. Even the antagonist could have been written better.

Harrowing opening. Super build-up of the relationship between the two protagonists. I would have liked more suspense as the story reached its climax. The ending felt rushed. Maybe a slower build-up to the big reveal. Otherwise, a riveting story.

A bit sci-fi, a bit horror, and a good deal of old fashioned mystery. Seemed slow at first, but it ends with more speed.

If you like sci-fi or fantasy, Bay's book will probably entertain well.

I loved the premise, the follow through for me seemed lacking.

I liked the characters, but only superficially.

I did not like the ending that much...or about the last 25% or so...it just seemed kind of rushed.

Ill will try this author again though.

The blurb perfectly describes this unique story. This is a well-written story that is funny and endearing despite all the secrets, murder and sex. Roger and Ben are great characters and you want to see them have their happy ending. It was fun to see a quick shout out to the Invisible Plan. I love when characters cross into other stories without detracting from the current book.

Forever Young is a fast-paced thrill-ride. The twists were unpredictable and well placed. I loved how unexpected this book was and look forward to what the talented Nathan Bay has planned next.

4 stars.

Positives:

1. What I'll say first is, this is a damn fast paced book. I started it at 11 P.M. last night, got halfway through by 12:30, forced myself to go to sleep (even though I would have loved to have finished it right then and there), and I had it done by 11 the next morning.

YOUNG FOREVER is incredibly thrilling, and left me desperately turning the pages to find out what's actually going on.

2. What I also liked, was the diversity. Pretty much all of the characters in this book are queer, which is something you don't see in a thriller often!

3. I loved that it was pretty fluid with it's tone. The book isn't too dark, too light, and it doesn't overpower with sex scenes. It's a great mix of everything!

Warning: This is technically an erotic thriller. I generally don't like much, or if any sex in my books, but the scenes were well-written, so I was able to endure them. Just wanted to let you know since they are pretty graphic!

Negatives:

1. I wasn't really able to connect with the relationship. I'm somebody who prefers slow burn romances, and the main relationship in this is basically the opposite, but this is definitely more of a me thing.

2. The latter quarter of the book had a completely different tone, it was almost....scifi? I think that if I would have known about this going in, it wouldn't have been so jarring for me, but because of this, it took me out of the story a few times.

I would still definitely recommend this for those that are craving a thriller that's diverse, well written, and if you're into it, some well written sexy times.

Revised review of this book...
A very strong 4.5 stars now! Due to the kindness of the author, I was made aware of and sent the updated copy of this book and boy, did it make a difference in how I felt about the story. I was able to continue with my deep affection for Ben and Roger of course, but most importantly, I now feel the closure I was yearning for for them. I could see clearly a bright and happy future for them and I am thrilled about that! So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Mr. Bay. You are a shining star and a kind soul. And, most importantly, thank you for the gift that is Roger and Ben!
My initial review remains below...

While I really liked what I read, it ended rather abruptly and felt totally unfinished. There were too many things left unsettled here so I didn't feel satisfied as a reader at all. Maybe. Hopefully, there will be a sequel book to this story so we can learn if anything between the two MC's ever get straightened out as well as other conflicts from the story.
It's a shame really. This was a really good book until it just POOF! ended.

I'm undecided...
What could have been 5 stars are 3,5 rounded up to 4.

It's a really good and exciting story. And it kept me guessing.
The personal connection to the victims is disturbing and thrilling at once. I couldn't decide, if I wanted to know what happens or scream at them to get away.

And here comes the but...
The end was a bit too over the top. Especially
The abrupt ending left me hanging. It felt unfinished. So much unresolved issues.
