This very interesting, and enlightening book, which was published in 1949, reads like a "Cliff's Notes" of the Bible, and covers all of the major Bible stories from beginning to end, both Old Testament and New Testament. It also gives an analysis of the stories, or what lesson is to be learned from each one. This book, written by an Orthodox priest, is also part catechism, and Church history, as the Orthodox understand it, which is interesting as well. The book is chocked full of Bible citations throughout, many times, listing multiple citations for each topic discussed, so that the reader can go directly to the Bible themselves, to find the Biblical basis for each concept that is explained. There are also relevant little cultural/historical side stories that the author includes, which makes the book all the more interesting. For instance, historical accounts of what happened to some of the people mentioned in the Bible, after some of the parts they played in it. Little tidbits that read like a Paul Harvey "The Rest of the Story" anecdote. This is simply, just a great book all the way around. Highly recommend reading.
