You just gotta love Lane Hart’s cage fighters and I’ve been anxiously waiting for Ivan’s story. He’s been dark and mysterious, quiet and secretive with his past. Now it’s all revealed and it left me heartbroken for him.
Maylin’s father has taken steps to bring peace between to mafia factions. Unfortunately, it is at her cost. Struggling with what the future will hold for her and all the potential horror that is to come, she escapes for the night with a man she meets at her father’s place of business. One night of wild intense passion and a glimpse inside the mind of her lover’s demons leaves her wanting more, but torn due to miscommunication.
Ivan’s history is steeped in guilt, shame and fury. He was unable to help the most important person in his life and since that moment his only goal is vengeance. He does not partake of the ladies like his buddies do. He has a mental block that refuses to release him from its grip. Until he meets Maylin and suddenly he has hope that he’s not completely broken.
As heartbreaking as Ivan’s struggle was, I loved that when this couple came together they were both a bit innocent, insecure and scared. Their connection quickly grows. When Ivan sets out to not only rescue Maylin from a horrible future, but to seek his own justice, I fell in love with the man he transformed into.
This is a fast paced read that never bogs down with unnecessary prose or dialogue. The secondary characters each have their own stories to tell and I loved seeing Cain and Gabby as well as getting a better look at Knox and Jade. While this installment did not have much of the cage fighting element, it was heavy with steam, light with angst, and full of action.
This is an honest review of an advanced reader copy.

Ivan by Lane Hart a five-star read that you need in your life. This is the second book in the An out of the cage series but they can all be read as standalone and if you read one Lane Hart book I promise you will want to go back and read them all, Ivan has always been someone you can see that we only get to scratch the surface, when his story is revealed it shows us that we have just been seeing the top of the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to the big brooding man than meets the eye, I don’t know what it is about Ivan but he blew me away, will he let the past ruin his future or will it fuel the future he has planned.

Alpha hero with a heart of gold? Check. A man out for revenge? Check.
Can’t-contain-the-laugh-even-though-you-know-you-shouldn’t-be-laughing moments? Check. And ending that I definitely did not see coming? Double check.
In short, this story is everything I wanted and then some. We had a glimpse of Ivan’s personality in the first book but not much. We knew he was, for the most part a quiet, lonesome man with a tragic past. I mean he was after all, abandoned to be raised as a fighter with a mobster as his boss.
In this story we get to see all of him. He’s a man with lots of angst but at the same time he proves he is capable of providing tenderness, loyalty, and accountability. He may be young but he proves to have a good head, for the most part =D
The story is fast-paced and although I think the romance was a little rushed, the story as a whole still kept me on my toes from beginning to end, wondering what the heck was going to happen next, and how were they ever going to find a solution to their problems.
There is no cliffhanger and it can be definitely be read as a standalone but it’d be better if the first one in the series, Cain, is read first. If anything, just to get a better feel of the relationship of the three male friends.

Grab your favorite hot drink and escape reality into the underground MMA and mafia world of Ivan and Maylin, the second book in the Out of the Cage series. Ms. Lane is one of my favorite authors, and I absolutely loved Chain’s book, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on an advance copy of Ivan’s story, and this book was just as much of a thrill ride as the last! I don’t know how she does it, but Ms. Lane plot twists her characters into one impossible situation after another and still manages to resolve everything satisfactorily and tie it all up in a happily ever after bow. If you haven't read her work before, you're really missing out! Although her characters are young adults, they're significantly lacking in the whiny, immature, wishy-washy traits found in so many YA novels these days, which is delightfully refreshing. With characters that are surprisingly complex and endearing, a storyline that will keep you guessing, and steamy chemistry aplenty, Ivan and Maylin's story is sure to please!

Fighter Ivan has a naivety about him that I loved. He comes across as quite insecure, there’s an innocence to him that drew me in and he’s not what I was expecting at all. He’s not one for one night stands so he’s already feeling out of his depth when he takes Maylin home and when she disappears afterwards, his old insecurities come back. I really liked Ivan. Having lost his mum when he was younger, it’s had some pretty serious effects on Ivan. Vowing to find her killer, he’s determined to get his revenge for her death.
Maylin is a sweet, innocent young woman. When Ivan approaches her, she sees the chance to do things her way and doesn’t correct his assumptions. With her life snowballing out of control, the last person she expects to help her is Ivan.
I loved the relationship between Maylin and Ivan. They’re pretty much made for each other but when Ivan’s last and present collide, it causes problems in their relationship.
Another great book from the Out Of The Cage series and I can’t wait for Knox’s story next!

Ivan had me hooked from the first page and I had his story done in one sitting! I enjoyed Ivan as it was not what I was expecting in his story or Maylyn's. This book was fast paced but a great read that had me hooked from the start. I liked the return of Cain and Knox from the first book in the series as they were loyal characters to each other. I can't wait to see where this series goes next with Knox!! There is more I can say about this book but if I do then I will ruin it for others so I won't!

Great book! When I read the first book in the series, I was anxiously awaiting this book and man did it not disappoint. I was not expecting some of the twists that come towards the end but it was so good when they played out. The characters were well written (even though I wanted to smack them both a couple of times lol) and I definitely recommend this book. Ivan can be read as a standalone but you do get some back story if you read Cain first and it is just as good so completely worth it.

First off I love MMA and I also love Lane hart’s books so right off this book was a win for me. I loved the first book in this series and excited to find this little beauty in my inbox and had to get started straight away. I loved it !! I don’t want to spoil it for the rest so all I will say is Ivan and Maylin maybe my new favourite couple and I recommend you read this book you will love them too !!

This was a fast paced, action packed story with lots of twists and turns that I never saw coming. Loved the instant connection between Ivan and Maylin, as there was just something different with them in those private moments they shared. Enjoyed having past characters play such an important role in the story.....and it will be interesting to see how the ending impacts Ivan going forward.

Another great book by Lane!! I knew Ivan would have an awesome story, but never expected it to be so deep. He's lived the last 6 years searching for his mother's killer and dreaming of a curvy redhead. Little does he know they will pull him into a crazy rollercoaster that ends happily, but not without some serious twists and turns.

OMG!!!! This book threw me for a loop! I adored Ivan in previous book, so I knew I would love his story. The twist was definitely something else!!
This book was absolutely jaw dropping!! I loved Ivan and Maylin. What an amazing story about coming from so much anger and ending in so much love. They both were such broken people and rose above it. I enjoyed their journey and can’t wait to follow them into the next book.

Just when you thought there is no way Lane could top Cain then you read Ivan....... holy hell. This read was riveting, spellbinding and held me captive from the very beginning. I can honestly say this book was definitely unputdownable due to the unexpected twists and turns which will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you begging for more! Can't wait for the next book in this series!

I totally loved Ivan and Maylin's love story. Ivan is a very quiet, inward person. He is on a mission to avenge his mother's murder. When Ivan meets Maylin, he falls in love. He is now determined to save her from the fate her father intends for her. May starts to feel safe in Ivan's arms and falls in love. Lane Hart is one of my favorite authors. I couldn't put this book down till I finished it. I look forward to Knox's story.

This second book in the Out of the Cage novels is fast paced and packed full of emotion and revelations. Ivan finds himself stuck between a rock and hard place more than once in this steamy page turner and even when he's not making the best decisions, you can't help but feel for him. The book is well-written and Hart has masterfully woven a tale where even the good guys do bad things, but you love them anyway. The conclusion was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to see what's in store for Knox - he may just have the toughest journey of all for his HEA.

After devouring Cain in one sitting I knew there was no way I was going to come up for breath before I hooked straight into Ivan!
Holy hotness!!! I was so not disappointed!
Ivan was absolutely beautiful!
He was like this big muscly onion...full of so many different layers and textures that made him an enigma to me as I read this one!
He had a gentleness that drew me to him straight off the bat and then as the story progressed, we peeled back more of his heavily guarded layers, to see this new side of Ivan that was tough and strong and unafraid!
All of a sudden that sweet gentle giant we fell in love with at the start grew a massive pair of balls and took a hold of this story and never let it go until the very end!
Reserved about sharing too much of his past Ivan seemed to hold a small piece of himself back from those close to him but, as we delved further into his story and were able to watch him shed his past, he literally morphed into this possessive, assertive alpha that you couldn't help but love!
What a brilliant second edition to a series that is JUST as awesome as our Cocky Cage Fighters!
Never a dull moment this one kept me on my toes from go to woe!
Once again Lane Hart has proven why she is the queen of the ring!
Another 5+ stars for my girl Lane Hart and her sexy fighters!

It wasn't a bad book. It was well written and the story wasn't bad either. It was easy to read with full of action. The only thing that made it only an okay read was that all the characters were too young for everything that happened to them. They all were barely 18 and 19 years of age but executed complex coup-like operations well above their experience I would say. Perhaps it's just me, but it was too juvenile despite the very serious situations and the characters getting in the cross-fire between the italian and irish mob. The emotional bond between Ivan and Maylin was rather shallow too, more likely driven purely by hormones. It was definitely a YA book so obviously not my cup of tea.

I love Lane’s cage fighter series, both of them! I swear these have to be the best out there. Now Mase has been my favorite for a long time, but I think that Ivan may have knocked him out of his top spot. Ivan has pulled at all of my heart strings and I love his loyalty. I was wandering how the development of the story would take place since it was occurring over the span of a few days, but I wasn’t disappointed. I loved how it wasn’t forced and rushed, but set up with a quick pace by logical circumstance.
Ivan was born in a brothel and raised by his mother and the other women there. One night he witnessed the murder of his mother, and was whisked off by a friend of his mother to an orphange ran by the Italian mob. Growing up he vowed revenge. He has spendt his life training and preparing for the day that he finds the fat pudgy guy with the crescent shape scar on his face. No longer a fighter for the Italian mob but now a fighter for the Irish mob that acquired him in their takeover, he now fights for Liam O’Donnell.
Maylin is the daughter of Liam O’Donnell, the Irish mob boss who has just taken over the territory of the Italian mafia. She has spent her life basically secluded with her virtue cherished and protected by her dad. One day her dad calls her into his office and she gets the dreadful news that to forge a truce between the Irish and Italian mob she will have marry the current Italian mob boss, Jimmy Russo, the fat pudgy guy with a menacing crescent shape scar on his face. So upset with her father and the news that he dropped on her, she runs to the bathroom and into the hottest guy she has ever seen. She needs to get away and want to get away with him...Ivan.
Maylin is pissed about her current predicament, being forced to marry a man that’s older than her father. This is not what she pictured, not the kind of guy that she saved herself for and if she can help it, she is determined that he won’t be her first. However since she has less than 24 hrs before she will be handed over to this horrid man, this hunk of a man, Ivan, may be her perfect, dreamy, last rebellious act. Yeah, he will do. She wants him and he needs her.
This book has so much passion, heart and heat! The loyalty among friends, lovers and even the Irish mob boss is everything. This is my new favorite book by Lane Hart!

Ivan has led a tragic life - traumatized when he witnessed his mother's murder, forced to fight by the Italian mob, raised in a brothel, he is introverted and lonely with only a single thought driving him. He wants to exact revenge on the man who so brutally ended his mother's life. When things finally start to improve for him with the death of the boss, he finally wins his first professional fight. That night, he meets Maylin. They make a connection that soothes Ivan's lonely soul. His intense attraction to her quickly morphs into stronger feelings and he yearns for a lasting relationship with the strong-willed and loving woman.
Maylin has led a somewhat normal life, despite being the child of the local Irish crime boss. Despite the bodyguards and the shady deals going on around her, she has been able to go to school and even make some good friends. This carefully crafted illusion of normality comes crashing down when she finds out that her father has promised her in marriage to the brutal new Italian crime boss to cement the families together and create a truce between them by holding her hostage in a marriage she doesn't want.
She is taken and essentially held prisoner until the wedding. Ivan, already enamored with Maylin, will put his life and future on the line to save her from this unwanted union. To his surprise, he finds out that her betrothed is actually his mother's murderer. By saving her, he will also exact justice for his mother.
I was really drawn into Ivan's pain at the outset of the story and was so happy to see him become happy with the help of Maylin. The twists and turns that try to pull Maylin away from him really created an emotional rollercoaster throughout the book. I loved the strength and sass represented in Maylin's character as well. She seemed like a good counterbalance to Ivan's darkness and despair.
Once I got pulled in, I couldn't put the book down until the end. In fact, I stayed up until about 3am to finish it at one go, just so I could see how everything turned out for our lead characters. I can't tell you how excited and anxious I was to start this book. Since I've read the first book from this series that I wanted to know everything about the rest of the gang and this guy simply intrigued me.
I've already said this but I'll keep telling it until everyone knows this lady. Her books speaks for herself and you will get caught into this web of feelings and emotions with a touch of hot stuff.
Lane Hart is the author in question and her writing is intense, amazing, simple yet pretty detailed.
Ivan is the second book from the An Out of the Cage series and let me just say that you need to be prepared.
This book explores the lifes of Ivan and Maylin.
But I totally advise you to read Cain first because despite they are all standalones the first book will give you the lights for the rest of the series.
Ivan had a childhood marked by sadness, tragedy and violence. Since the day of his mother's murderer he was sent to live in a house with other kids and there he bonded with Cain and Knox. Like them he's also a MMA fighter that needs to survive and keep going in order to find the man who ruined his life.
Maylin is a sweet girl that hates her father's business. One night was enough to change her life. When she's called to met her father at his strip club she can't imagine what's about to happen.
Amazing... Simply amazing... Like I knew it would be.
Supeb plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. The way the story progressed left me with that feeling of wanting more and more each time. The interation between the characters is beautiful, raw and dark. The unknown left me anxious and nervous but excited at the same time.
We might think that we don't deserve happiness but life has a way to show us the other way around.
Love, loyalty, friendship and desire are very present as well as betrayal, crime and punishment.
The hot stuff are there and Dayum... What scenes..
Lane you are magnificent and your words shows just that. Every story takes us to a world of desire, feelings and so much more.
Now... Now I want Knox's book. Don't let me wait to long.

I've already said this but I'll keep telling it until everyone knows this lady. Her books speaks for herself and you will get caught into this web of feelings and emotions with a touch of hot stuff.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
We met Ivan in Cains book, and OMG I fell hard for this quiet young man
He has been through so very much in his life, He was raised in a brothel where
his mother was a whore and he saw her brutally murdered, (we also learn something else about
Ivan because of this night as well) He will never forget the man who killed his mother. He
has searched for years for the man with the crescent shaped scar on his face.
When Knox finally talks Ivan into going to the club that the mafia that runs the fights owns/runs
Ivan is not sure he is ready, That is until he runs into Maylin.
Maylin is Liam's daughter "The King of the Irish mafia" and who has taken the place of the Italian
mafia who use to own/ run the fights and the club. Her father just told her that he is going to be
"giving' her hand in marriage to Jimmy Russo, the Head of the Italian mafia. All to keep the piece
between the "families" even though he knows what kind of man Jimmy is Liam is dead set to do this One stipulation is that Maylin MUST be pure on her wedding night.
Maylin decides that she is going to change that and she does with Ivan, With what he has emotionally dealt with he has ED issues. Not that he cannot get hard, but he cannot finish, That is until he FINALLY has sex with Maylin. But the next morning she is gone.
What Ivan and Maylin go through in this story OMG, and The ending I was floored but yet I LOVED where this story went. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book it is a cannot put down until you finish it book, I cannot WAIT to read Knox's story, especially with some of the things that came out about him in this book

This is book 2 in Lane Harts ‘Out of the Cage’ series, but this series can be read as standalone stories.
Ivan is an MMA Cage Fighter having to fight for the Italian Mafia as payment for being raised up in a shared house after he ran away as a child, following him witnessing his mother being murdered.
After the fighting ring is taken over by the Irish Mafia he’s given the choice of continuing or moving on. Being the only life he’s known Ivan decides to continue fighting.
One night after winning, as is their ritual, they head to Escapades strip club where
Ivan spies a gorgeous redhead, thinking she’s one of the strippers and normally a shy guy, he surprises himself when he asks her to leave with him.
Maylin is actually the mafia boss' virgin daughter. Having just found out that her father plans to sacrifice her, as a bride to the Italian Mafiia mobster, as a ‘peace’ deal to prevent his own destruction, Maylin allows Ivan to believe she is a stripper, she ditches her bodyguards and leaves with him, for what will be her last night of freedom.
Ivan has a naivety to him and comes across as a bit insecure, so when Main disappears after he’d taken her home that night, his old insecurities come back.
Here there’s a few twists and turns, with Ivan being closer to finding his mother’s murderer than he realises.
Can Ivan get beyond what his past was and get the future he deserves and his HEA or will he let his past dictate his life forever!

I read this book as part of an arc program. Ivan is now fighting for the Irish mob and has life so much better after the incidents we read about in Cain. Ivan still is looking for the man who murdered his mother and still has plans to kill him. After winning a fight, Knox takes Ivan to the strip club where he tells him he can take any of the dancers home for the night as a reward for winning. Ivan is nervous because he has a few problems with having sex, so he asks Knox for advice. Maylin is the daughter of the Irish mob boss Liam, who owns the strip club. When Maylin's father asks her to come to the club to discuss a business development, she sees Ivan in the hall and uses him to escape her bodyguards. Ivan thinks she is a dancer and decides she is the dancer he will take home for the night. Maylin goes with him, but thinks it is her one chance to have fun and lose her virginity. Afterwards she flees and Ivan learns who she is and the fact she is going to marry Liam's rival. Ivan goes to Liam to plan how to get her back from the man who murdered his mother. I loved this book, I loved Ivan, Cain and Knox. the three men are closer than most brothers and will anything for each other. Ivan knows it is dangerous to rescue Maylin, but he wants to anyways. This book had a couple of twists and some funny parts too. I loved Maylin and Ivan together, they had great chemistry and an instant love. Great one, I can't wait to see what happens with Knox in the next book.

Ivan is an orphan that was raised by the Italian Mafia to be one their MMA fighters. Now the Irish Mafia has taken over the Italian territory and Ivan can make his own money doing what he enjoys. However, he is haunted by his past and is not sure he will ever find the perfect woman for him. Then luck or chance intercedes, and he literally bumps into Maylin, the daughter of the Irish Kingpin in charge of everything. Ivan’s entire world changes as he decides Maylin is the woman he has been dreaming about.
Ivan is book 2 in a trilogy about three young MMA fighters in servitude to the Mafia. I read the first novel, Cain, years ago, so I did not remember much of that story while I was reading Ivan. I did enjoy the first novel in the series. There is mention of the characters from the previous novel, but it is not necessary to have read the first novel in order to understand this one. Ivan was slightly different than Cain. The story line to me became convoluted at a point with all that was going on with this story. It was information overload. Ivan’s backstory alone was like, “WTH?!?” There was some suspense in the novel, but the author let it drop and it was not mentioned again by the end of the novel. I am not sure if it will pick back up on the third novel in the series. Although this story is part of a series, it does end with a HEA. The cliffhanger/epilogue of the story is the introduction into the third novel, Knox, in the series.

Ivan was raised in a house fighting for the Italian mafia - fight or die -- or wish he did. As part of the war between mobs, the fighting pits are taken over by Liam O'Donnell, the Irish crime boss. Given the choice of fighting for the Irish mafia or moving on, Ivan decides to continue since its the only thing he knows and he's great at it. Following a successful fight, his pals introduce him to the club where the strippers view to provide evidence training services to the successful fighters. When Ivan spies a gorgeous redhead in the hall, he grabs her and asks if she wants to get out of there with him. Not realising that she's the mafia boss' virgin daughter who he's sacrificing as bride as a peace offering to the Italian mobster determined to wipe out the entire Irish gang, he's still a bit surprised when she agrees to do everything with him. Lovely Maylin is stunned when he father explains what she has to do to avoid the total death and destruction of her father's empire. One last night of freedom is all she has, so when the young gorgeous fighter asks her to go with him, she jumps at the chance to ditch her bodyguards and live for a night.
Complications abound and this story is hugely action-packed and funny, too.

Ivan is book 2 in this MMA fighter series and is about Maylin and Ivan. Though you don’t HAVE to read book one, Cain, I highly recommend you do so since this is a continuation of that storyline and all the characters from it.
Maylin is the daughter of the Irish mob’s boss. She’s just been told by her father that she has a choice: marry his rival, Jimmy, the Italian mob boss, or run, and her father and everyone who works for him will be killed. With no real choice, Maylin just wants to have one last night to herself. As she’s trying to sneak away from her bodyguards, she runs into a gorgeous man and decides to use him to get away...and enjoy herself before being forced into this marriage.
That gorgeous man is Ivan. His only goal in life is to find the man that murdered his mother and get his revenge. But when he runs into Maylin, he takes a break from that search to enjoy just one night with the beautiful woman that has reawakened the lust he’s been keeping at bay for years. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was so sad to hear that Lane was calling an end to her Cocky Cage Fighter Series! But after she sent me the ARC for Cain, book 1 of her new Out Of The Cage Series, i felt a spark of hope that, in truth it was not the end of a remarkable series, but just a chapter of an extended series! And now after reading Ivan, book 2 in the series, I know that Lane has not closed the door on our cocky, sexy boys, she is just adding more eye candy for us! I have to say that there were a couple twists in this book that I was not expecting and they really blew me away! And Lane certainly has a way of leaving us with our mouth hanging open and thoughts churning in our minds, trying to figure out just what in the he!! she has in store for us with her next book! I can't wait to get my hands on Knox's story. She "opened a new door" for us with a shocking revelation and left us all with "seeds for thought" for Knox's story. Another amazing work of art by an amazingly talented author!
