This was a very enjoyable rock star romance read!
I was very excited that both Brody and Amy were in their early mid thirties.
Mature characters yet each one with their damaged teen years, very likeable and intriguing. They did share an amazing connection and I was thrilled for them to find their hea!!!!
I appreciated how Brody was claiming Amy and expressing his feelings!!! 😍
I missed both main characters’ backstories, which were adequately and not deeply developed. Also Brody might have been a famous rock star but there was no rock stage action at all...

I really think that AS Roberts is a hidden gem. I enjoy her books so much and Brody was exceptional.

Brody is the first book in the Default Distraction series by A.S. Roberts. It is the story of Brody Daniels who is the lead singer of the rock band, Default Distraction. Brody is the only American in the band; his other three bandmates are British. One day when Brody was jogging around in the little village where he and his bandmates are opening a remodeled hotel, he notices a beautiful young woman to whom he is instantly drawn. The young woman works in a quaint Victorian shop called “A Stitch in Time” that sells a variety of items, which includes hand-knitted scarves, hats, and gloves made by the owner of the shop. One day Brody enters the shop, making sure that his beanie is pulled down low on his head and the collar of his jacket is turned up high, since he doesn't want the young woman to recognize him as the lead singer of Default Distraction before she can get to know him.
The story is also about a young woman named Amy. Amy lives with her nan, and works in her nan's shop, “A Stitch in Time”. The shop used to just sell haberdashery items but now sells a large variety of items. Unfortunately the shop isn't getting as many customers lately and is in real danger of being closed for good. Even though Amy has a college degree she couldn't abandon her nan when her nan needed her the most, especially when her nan's health was declining, too. One day, about a week before Christmas, a very nice looking young man came into the shop. Amy can't see much of his face since he has his beanie pulled down to his eyebrows and his collar turned up high, but she can definitely see his amazing teal colored eyes. Amy felt that “the air was sucked from her body as her eyes found his for the first time. Her reaction to his presence was visceral.” When he spoke to her she fell in love with his “rich voice”, but she couldn't quite place his accent. Amy finally recognized his accent as American when he called her “Ma'am”. He was the hottest man Amy had ever seen!

The characters of Brody and Amy have backstories that allow the reader to really feel connected to these characters, and to see how much they have in common with each other. I definitely enjoy “rock star” romances, and this book tells a unique story that I really enjoyed because it was not the typical “rock star” romance. December 2025 reread -
There had been enough time since my first read of Brody for this reread to feel completely fresh.
I absolutely loved the emotions this story brought out in me - an entire spectrum - and I was right there with Brody and Amy through every moment. I loved seeing Amy with her friends, and the glimpse of Brody with his bandmates has me excited for the next three books! Of course, the highlight was watching Brody and Amy find each other and fall in love.
This is a story I highly recommend. I already can't wait for another reread in a few years' time.

Brody by A.S. Roberts a five-star read that will distract you. This is the first book in the Default Distraction series and the rest of the band and books can’t come soon enough. The old adage money can’t buy you happiness has never been in a position where you only have 3 items bought in your shop all day and bills that need paying, but on the other hand even when you have more than you will ever need like a Rockstar who rules the world doesn’t mean you will be happy either. But when you have chemistry that blows your socks off, money is the last thing on your mind. I love of the little details in this story, the description of a blue pair of gloves, the rolling of pastry the simple things that make the story have a depth that will suck you in and a heat that will melt even the coldest of hearts. A.S. Roberts I didn’t think you could better the Fated series, but you surprised me, you even made me a happy lady with a great wedding that brought a tear to my eye.

I fell in love with A.S. Roberts writing when I read her first series, so I was so excited to learn that she started a second series.
This book is more of a lighthearted and easy read. Both of the main characters have back stories with issues that they need to deal with and have to get past in order to move on with their lives. Brody is a rock star and Amy is a woman that took over her nan's shop when her nan could no longer run it. They meet by chance at the shop. She had no idea who he was and he liked it that that way. They go their separate ways. They end up being in the same place at the same time soon after - is this fate?
I can not wait to see what the rest of the series has to bring and I can not wait to read more about the other characters! Great job A.S. Roberts!

Brody by A.S. Roberts is the first book in the Default Distraction series. If you like all things music and rock and roll then this is definitely a book for you.
Surely if you have everything anyone could dream of then you must be happy, right? Wrong. At least it is for Brody Daniels, lead singer of the chart topping US rock band Default Distraction. He is bored of the lifestyle, of the cars, the money, the women. But more than anything he is bored of the pretence. Of convincing everyone that he is happy all the time. He wants something more from his life. Something more than he can get from the music and the fame.
Amy Harper on the other hand definitely has something more. She has more debt than he will ever have. She has more struggles with her business than he will ever have. And she has definitely had more than enough of it all.
So what happens when the two of them meet? What happens when their worlds collide? Can they go back to their realities? Or can they push for something more, together?
This book has everything you could possible want. Hot rock star? Check. Strong woman? Check. Of the charts chemistry? Double check! I absolutely loved Brody and Amy together. For this being the first in a new series for AS Roberts & it being a Rock Band Series I was so excited to get stuck in.
What I wasn’t expecting was for it to burn a little hole in my heart, some of the situations & childhood experiences I could totally relate too & with tears running down my face I was so blown away with how on point this was, without it explaining too much.
It was just wow!!!!
Brody he’s just became my favourite alpha of Roberts!!! This guy is bloody delicious I can’t wait for you too meet him.
Amy you stole the show for me, the integrity the strength the love & the person you are.... I wanna be Amy when I grow up!
Sometimes to move on you have to look back, but just not for too long.

Brody is the first in a series about a rock band wanting to settle down and find their home. It’s worth mentioning that I love the cover, AND I love rock star romances. Brody and Amy are instantly drawn to each other, and both had sucky things happen in their childhood. He’s handled it badly in the past, and she seems to deal with it by pushing people away. Man, she really does use any excuse to run away! I feel like this story set up a good foundation for the whole series, with glimpses of possible couples to follow. I will be looking forward to the rest.

Love love love Brody and Amy! I went into this book blind and I have to say I’m so glad I did! Nothing beats a good rockstar romance but this was so much more. I’m beyond excited to see what’s in store for the other members of Default Distraction and let’s not forget Willow and Lauren. Another outstanding read that I couldn’t recommend highly enough!!

Ms Roberts has another great story on her hands with Brody and what will turn into a great series. Quaint village in the U.K. becomes the background of this explosive romantic story. The troubled rock singer wishes to lose his identity and for people just to know the real him. Amy the English girl protected by Vera, her wise grandma needs to live in the moment. Their chance meeting and sparks fly and a beautiful story begins. Hot, passionate and desirable spring to mind. Take a leap and see where it leads. Really enjoyed the book, characters and location. Looking forward to book 2.

From the moment I started this book, Brody and Amy’s story became a huge distraction (pun intended) in my life, I couldn’t put it down !!
Their story captures you and pulls you in to their highs and lows and has you hoping for the HEA that they both deserve considering the hardship their lives have faced.
Definitely one of AS Roberts’ best (& I’ve read them all) the ending was perfect and I can’t wait to find out what the stories are for the other members of the DD band.

Brody...Brody...Brody why are you so amazing? Thank goodness I didn’t know you in your previous life because ick but they way you are now?....i love it! A seriously new book boyfriend here. He is hot, sexy and has a great mouth. Wait that came out wrong. I mean he is great with words....but the other thing too. He is so thoughtful and I love the gentleman in him as well as the bossy man he becomes. I loved reading his thoughts but his sweet gestures and honesty did me in! And the connections he has to Amy.....all I can say is ELECTRIC!
Nan was a wonderful character and due to Amy’s feelings and the way the author wrote I could imagine her soft hands, touches and comforting gestures. She is a smart one and her words of wisdom will be replayed in my head as much as Amy’s. When Amy spent the night with her later in the book. It was so sweet. Them holding hands. I loved that!
The girlfriends (Winter, Amy and Lauren) are such fun to read about. They get along so well and joke around along with offering each other sweet advice. The band members (Cade, Liam, Brody and Raff) offer the same family atmosphere to each other as the girls do. There is some joking and fun so I can only imagine what will happen when their stories come out.
In this story a few characters are mentioned as being there for a wedding. Those characters are from her previous series (Fated). It was a nice touch to add them and any previous fans of that series will enjoy their add.
I enjoy all of A.S. Roberts stories. They are filled with love of heart, fun times, love of family/friends and sometimes some suspense. I see there is going to me more for this series and I can not wait! Rafferty and Lauren are going to walking down the road next.

Brody is the first book of this series by Andrea S Roberts and when I found out it was going to be about a rock group my excitement grew

Brody by A.S. Roberts was my first book by this author. This love at first sight rocker romance was a great read and boy did it have some steamy sex scenes; who loves a good dirty talking lead singer – THIS GIRL!
Brody first laid eyes on Amy at her Nan’s shop then after a few little accidents; he couldn’t stay away from her. Brody loved the fact that Amy didn’t know that he was a famous rock-star and wanted her to get to know the real Brody. And we all know that this decision is going to backfire on him at some point.
I hate to say this but I took me some time to get into this book at first, but by the end, I was so glued to my kindle. I am so looking forward to reading more from this series, I see some very interesting things about to happen.

The story is beautifully written with details that set the stage for the inner workings of a tea room and an ambitious Amy who meets the man of her dreams. But everything isn’t as it seems. Will Brody finally have the future he desires? Will Amy look past his faults?
Roberts holds nothing back. There’s past hardships, childhood disappointments and grown adults working on living the best life has to offer.
I highly recommend this first book in the a Default Distraction series...with an HEA...to everyone!

Brody is the first book in a wonderful new series, Default Distraction, by the supremely talented A.S. Roberts. This is a superb Rockstar romance that had me captivated right from the very first page. It’s full of passion, some suspense, drama, secrets, emotion, romance, chemistry, humour, and all the elements necessary to make this a riveting read.
Amy Harper has had her fair share of heartache, it has left her wary of getting close to anyone, because then she couldn’t be hurt when she was cast aside in the end. She has her beloved grandmother, a few close friends, and the little shop she holds so dear. The business is struggling to keep afloat, but Amy really hopes to somehow find a way to turn things around. In her small community in rural England, everyone knows everyone, so she is surprised when a sexy stranger finds his way into her shop. She’s intrigued by him and can’t seem to get him off her mind, long after he’s gone. With Christmas just around the corner, and her shop closing for the holidays, her cousin persuades her to help out at the opening of the newly renovated Manor, an historic old estate that has been converted into a luxury hotel. So, in the hope of earning some much-needed funds, Amy agrees. Fate seems to keep placing her in situations where she runs into her mystery man, more often than not it’s being rescued by him. Things heat up between them, and they soon find themselves unable to resist the intense chemistry that surges between them. There is sooo much to love about this book, I really feel that I am not doing it the justice that it truly deserves. You really should read it for yourself and discover all the deliciously sexy details for yourself.
Ms. Roberts writes so beautifully- she has a real talent for getting her story and characters to really connect with the reader, pulling them in and captivating them with her words. The energy and tension she is able to create in her stories, and between the characters, is truly masterful. I can’t imagine anyone reading her stories and not enjoying every word.
The characters are really well written, full developed and wonderfully endearing. I loved everything about them. I also felt for them, my heart ached hearing their back stories and I wanted to give them both a massive hug. I loved meeting all the secondary characters as well, and watching some of the groundwork being laid out here for their own stories in the future. I can’t wait to read every intriguing detail!!
This book has a great pace, there isn’t a dull moment to be found anywhere- it flows smoothly and is a joy to read. But be prepared for a book binge, as you won’t want to put it down! I read it in one session, staying up long past my bedtime just so I didn’t have to put it down before knowing what would happen.
Bring on book two!

Brody is the first book in a wonderful new series, Default Distraction, by the supremely talented A.S. Roberts. This is a superb Rockstar romance that had me captivated right from the very first page. It’s full of passion, some suspense, drama, secrets, emotion, romance, chemistry, humour, and all the elements necessary to make this a riveting read.
Amy Harper has had her fair share of heartache, it has left her wary of getting close to anyone, because then she couldn’t be hurt when she was cast aside in the end. She has her beloved grandmother, a few close friends, and the little shop she holds so dear. The business is struggling to keep afloat, but Amy really hopes to somehow find a way to turn things around. In her small community in rural England, everyone knows everyone, so she is surprised when a sexy stranger finds his way into her shop. She’s intrigued by him and can’t seem to get him off her mind, long after he’s gone. With Christmas just around the corner, and her shop closing for the holidays, her cousin persuades her to help out at the opening of the newly renovated Manor, an historic old estate that has been converted into a luxury hotel. So, in the hope of earning some much-needed funds, Amy agrees. Fate seems to keep placing her in situations where she runs into her mystery man, more often than not it’s being rescued by him. Things heat up between them, and they soon find themselves unable to resist the intense chemistry that surges between them. But Amy’s past experiences soon have her pushing him away and running from her feelings. Will her fear of heartache cause her to miss a chance of finding happiness?

He doesn’t do relationships, so this is a new experience for him. After walking into her shop just so he had an excuse to talk to her, he finds himself coming to her rescue several times. One thing leads to another and he spends an unforgettable night with her. Amy proves to be a little skittish, but he won’t let her push him away, he’s determined to prove to her that he’s worth taking a chance on. But will his secret be the thing that drives them apart?
There is sooo much to love about this book, I really feel that I am not doing it the justice that it truly deserves. You really should read it for yourself and discover all the deliciously sexy details for yourself.
Ms. Roberts writes so beautifully- she has a real talent for getting her story and characters to really connect with the reader, pulling them in and captivating them with her words. The energy and tension she is able to create in her stories, and between the characters, is truly masterful. I can’t imagine anyone reading her stories and not enjoying every word.
The characters are really well written, full developed and wonderfully endearing. I loved everything about them. I also felt for them, my heart ached hearing their back stories and I wanted to give them both a massive hug. I loved meeting all the secondary characters as well, and watching some of the groundwork being laid out here for their own stories in the future. I can’t wait to read every intriguing detail!!
This book has a great pace, there isn’t a dull moment to be found anywhere- it flows smoothly and is a joy to read. But be prepared for a book binge, as you won’t want to put it down! I read it in one session, staying up long past my bedtime just so I didn’t have to put it down before knowing what would happen.

I have read a couple of books from this talented author but she continues to blow my mind. This is the first book to Default Distraction series and wow what a great start. I absolutely love rock star romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. I was hooked to this story right from the beginning. It only took me a day to devour this incredible book.
Brody Daniels had a very hard childhood but now he is the lead singer of a huge rock band. He has it all money, women, and fast cars but he feels like something is missing. Brody wants something real. He knows that all his fame can be taken away. Brody is out for a walk to clear his head and he comes across this cute shop. He can’t help but to go inside. Brody meets the beautiful Amy Harper. He is shocked at how he feels for her. Brody can’t get enough of Amy. They get to know each other and they quickly realize they might have found the one. Will Amy be able to be in the spotlight like Brody or will it be too much for this small town girl? Will Brody convince Amy to take a chance with him or will his past try to destroy it all?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, doubts, forgiveness, and love. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. Brody is a hot rockstar but deep down he wants the simple life. He loves what he does and he doesn’t take it for granted. The way he treats Amy will make your heart melt. Amy is a sweetheart. She loves her shop that she shares with her grandma but she wants something more. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to read more about this incredible band.

Brody is the first book in default distraction series written by A.S. Roberts. This is an amazing author that can pin an amazing story that talks about real problems not fake. I have read a few of this authors books and her books just get better. The characters are well written and amazing the love the little quirks these characters have.

Brody Daniels, is the lead singer of DD, and has a life that many people envy. Money, fast cars, extravagant houses and a constant stream of beautiful women. But he's tired of the rock n roll lifestyle, and so damn sick of the pretense and fake people. He wants something real, something tangible.
Amy Harper has had more than enough of “real” everyone who was supposed to be there for her abandoned her except her grams. She has nothing to call her own. “I had a few rules. I didn’t get close and I didn’t connect with anyone. That way I didn’t get hurt and I didn’t get left behind.”
I'll admit I struggled with the first few chapters. If you are, too...DON’T GIVE UP...power through that hump it's well worth it! You won't regret getting to know the characters and their history before the story takes off. In a moment I went from I’m not sure to watching how close I was to the end...I started feeling anxiety, because I didn’t want the story to end. I had so many hopes for which direction it would go. I was wanting to get a glimpse into the other characters story and pray they each get their own along with follow ups sprinkled in so we can get a little more of Brody. By the end I was thrilled to see Rafferty will be getting his own story!
‘It’s okay, we’ll be okay. I’ll look after you. Pinky swear.’
Protective, alpha male, grew up having childhood experiences weigh him down in adult life, struggles to keep himself from slipping back into old ways. Letting childhood promises keep him from letting go and moving forward until he found a reason to want more for himself.
“I wasn’t used to doing as I was told, nor was I used to being looked after. It was an unfamiliar feeling and one I realised quite quickly that I liked, unfortunately.”
Grew up in an unconventional way, but learned to embrace her new life, yearned for more but afraid to reach for it. Didn’t welcome change yet there were so many great things waiting for her to reach for.

Well let’s just start with the star of the story, literally, and the gorgeous cover candy, Brody! Those eyes really drew me into the story before I even laid mine on a single word. A.S. Robert’s newest series kicks off with the story of Brody and Amy. Brody is a member of the band, Default Distraction, whom I presume the rest of the books will include stories of other band members. He has had quite the adventurous life and feels blessed for it. However, he desires the slower life now, and seeks stability and roots to call home. This brings him home to England. Here is where he meets and runs into the wonderful Amy Harper.
Amy has to be one of my favorite female characters that I have read of this year! I absolutely adored her. Amy hasn’t had the easiest go around with life, especially lately. She craves the busier and more adventurous life, but the family business, and her ailing grandmother keeps her rooted close to home. Amy is blind sighted when she first meets Brody.
The two continuously find themselves being placed in each other’s path. Eventually a romance will become inevitable, but will they be able to weather the differences between them? Can they withstand the one major obstacle in their way? You will have to read and find out all the juicy details for yourself.
There isn’t a dull moment throughout the book. The words are so eloquently written that you feel as if you are in England at the beautiful manor watching from the sidelines as these two come together. You may find yourself needing a fan or two as well, there are some hot and steamy scenes to make you blush! I can’t wait to find out who will be featured in the next book. One can only hope the cover is graced by someone with just as intriguing features…

All of the books that I have read by this author I have loved and are in my top reads of all time so I did have high expectations for this new series from Ms Roberts and she delivered – my gosh did she deliver! Brody was an outstanding read. From the very first page until the very last I was captivated. Absolutely loved this story. Loved the characters. Loved the feelings. Loved the heartache and tears but especially the make up sex!
“Gradually, we all learn to let go. It’s one of life’s lessons. We have to learn to let go of the people we love, when they can no longer be with us, whether it’s taken completely out of their hands …or by their choice to leave.”
I have to admit the quote above made me shed some tears. The situation with Nan and Amy is a little heartbreaking but really it is life. Sometimes life is hard. This quote is simply true.
Brody and Amy have an undeniable attraction. An attraction that Roberts delivers to us as super hot and super sweet all at once.
I loved this story line. Brody just wanted to find a quiet normal life. He was looking for someone and something real. Amy wasn’t looking for anything but she needed to be swept away from reality, even for just a little bit. These two are perfect for each other.
If this is going to be a series of books with Amy and her friends and the band Default Distraction, I can not wait to read the other books!

Brody is book 1 in the Default Distraction series by A.S. Roberts. This author is so talented, it takes my breath away. I was totally in awe of Amy and Brody right from the start. And the bumpy dance they embarked on together was hugely entertaining and I was unable to put it down so it was a one sitting read. The only trouble with that was that my time with these brightly entertaining characters was way too short.
I love the bady boy/good girl, hard rock genre and this title did not disappoint. I was elevated to another level and was so excited that Brody was more than I could ever have hoped for. I felt every emotion with them, and when the going got tough, hoped with everything that I had that things would turn out ok. Tension became my middle name. Anticipation my first. So mesmiring. Their story excited. Their story thrilled. Their story saddened. Their story had low points. Their story had high points. Their story had everything. They found. They conquered. They soared. 5 stars.

I’ve been out of the reading game for so long that I’d almost forgotten the joy of immersing myself in a fictionary world and getting swept along for the ride. And that’s exactly what happened with book one in Roberts “Default Distraction” series “Brody.” Having read and loved all of Roberts other books prior to this release, I knew I’d find a swoon-worthy H and strong h, witty banter, not to mention the plentiful sizzling sex scenes and serious chemistry between the leads. There’s something heartwarming when two broken souls find each other, come together, and heal each others wounds making the other whole again, and Brody was no exception. While it was missing some of the action/suspense I’ve come to enjoy in her previous books, I think this was a great set up to introduce us to the rock bands world and other endearing, and intriguing, characters that will be getting their own novels - I just hope it doesn’t take me as long to find time to read them as it did this little gem! 4 out of 5 shiny stars from me!

When I started reading this book I wasn't in the right mind as I'd been reading murder mysteries so I stopped and gave myself time away from reading. Once I'd picked Brody back up again it took me one day to read it. This is my sign of how good a book is to me. I laughed, I cried and I had the 'ahhh' moments too. Andrea Roberts is exceptional in bringing different characters together and choosing a background topic that is so relevant today. In Brody it's Amy's nan who is suffering a mental health issue a subject close to my heart because it reminds me of my own Nana. With both their family's histories, bringing Brody and Amy together may well have to turned into a very different story - talk about dysfunctional families! Andrea will always be one of my favourite authors. If her other series is anything to go by I can honestly say that this series is just going to get better and better. Can't wait for the next one!!!
