"I looked at Lo. Really looked at her. We were both broken. Products of our fucked-up pasts. But where I wanted to hurt and feel pain, she wanted to fix and make everything better."

In this book I learn more about Maverick, I realized why he was such a jerk in book one and behaved like that with Lo and his family and what was behind his fighting issue. He just wanted to protect them from becoming collateral damage. But I didn’t like the plan/game they started and those rules. It wasn’t fair to Lo!

Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in the "Wicked Bay" series and it should be read in order. All in all, it was a good read and I’m looking forward to reading Kyle’s story, he’s still my fav character so far! Hope you enjoy it!

L.A. Cotton writes an angsty, sexy and swoony happy for now conclusion to Lo and Maverick’s story.

In the years I’ve been reading, I can count with one hand the number of young adult authors who’ve captured my attention. I’ve now added L.A. Cotton to that short list.

Wicked Rules picks up shortly after Wicked Beginnings left off. I laughed, got angry, swooned, in short my heart was put through the wringer mostly because I was in agony reading how Maverick and Lo had to endure keeping their love a secret and watching the burden of it take its toll.

Their chemistry and love is undeniable and I loved all the sweet and sexy times they shared. I appreciated how Lo put on her big girl panties and supported Maverick’s not only in pursuing his dream but also protecting his family at such a great cost to both of them. And I loved Rick’s growth from coldhearted and aloof to vulnerable and yet loving and fierce protector.

L.A. Cotton blends the perfect mix of angst, drama and swoon. I literally could not put this book down and read it from start to finish in a single sitting.

Maverick and Lo are supposed to bring their relationship out into the open but Maverick is still holding back. However, he does bring Lo more into his world and lets her get to know more about him.

Maverick is still trying to deal with his rage and this time he goes too far. Everyone is upset but it helps bring them together and come up with a plan. Unfortunately, that means Maverick and Lo have to go back to being a secret and Lo has a really hard time.

I loved how much Lo was there for Maverick and what she did for him but my heart really went out to her for what she was put through. It was really great how she staked her claim at the end.

There is some resolution at the end of the book but they also have another story in book four. Next up is Kyle's book and that should be interesting to see how things work out for him.

Wicked Rules is just that: Wicked!
I didn't know what hit me until I finished the book. If I had have the time, I would have finished it in one sitting. I already really liked Wicked Beginnings but Wicked Rules simply topped it. And with so much ease I never expected.

Best way to describe Lo and Rick is this quote: "We were both broken, but together, we were whole."

This book has everything I expect from a great YA romance: great chemistry, heart break, suspense, trouble, easy lovable side characters, complications which makes things more interesting, intense love scenes, finding ways to solve problems, character development, and so on.
It's weird how I couldn't feel the chemistry between Lo and Rick in the first book, but now it's more than obvious how much they are in love with each other and how far they would go to protect the other.

In Wicked Beginnings we learned a lot about Lo and her past. This second book is more about Rick and his past. He learns to trust Lo enough to open up. It's an interesting process to follow and the truth will break your heart as much as it did for Lo in the first book.

Wicked Rules is a great, intriguing and emotional read which makes you feel things to the bone!

Wicked Rules is the much-anticipated second installment in the Wicked Bay series by L.A. Cotton and one I couldn't wait to get my hands on. I'm pleased to report that Lianne doesn't disappoint, and it was a superb addition to what is already a very engrossing series. Prepare to swoon, laugh, cry, feel blood-boiling rage, gasp in shock, and cling to precious hope as you devour the pages.

I read this book in less than twenty-four hours and it sucked me in from the first beautiful word until the last suspense-filled one.

Maverick and Lo are finally a couple but thanks to a plethora of enemies, they are forced to keep their love a secret, and the burden starts to take a toll. There is no denying the chemistry and the love between these two, and I loved all the romantic and sexy times, and there were plenty of them to sate my appetite.

The second half of this book cranked the angst-ometer sky high and I was literally chewing on my nails reading it. I wanted to transport myself into my Kindle and throttle a few people, and I was on the edge of my seat as I gobbled up the pages. Some battles are won, but fresh ones loom in the horizon and I can't wait to see where Lianne takes the story next. Roll on March!

In summary, Wicked Rules satisfied my angst-loving, drama-loving heart to the max. I absolutely loved it, and I can't wait for the next installment in this well-written series. If you are a fan of addictive, edgy YA/NA crossover romance, you will LOVE this book and this series. Highly recommended.

Ed eccoci tornati a Wicked Bay dove ritroviamo Maverick e Lois, ormai decisi a non costruire più muri per nascondersi al mondo ma darsi man forte l’un l’altra, come in un vero gioco di squadra, come in un vero rapporto di coppia.

In particolare in questo secondo capitolo conosciamo meglio Maverick, che la Cotton ci svela pagina dopo pagina, raccontato dal suo punto di vista, bellissimo e contorto come molti adolescenti, ma ferito nell’anima da chi dovrebbe solo amarlo e aiutarlo… Come non innamorarsi di un personaggio così? Tutte noi vorremmo essere Eloise!

«Lo dobbiamo a noi stessi. Qualcosa di bello e reale.»

Il punto fondamentale è ancora una volta il destino che mette questi due ragazzi nello stesso posto, nel momento esatto in cui serviva. Ognuno dei due è esattamente ciò che serviva all’altro: Maverick è la ragione di Eloise per trovare nuovo interesse nel mondo che la circonda. E lei è l’unica in grado di restituire la fiducia nel prossimo a lui. Da soli sono due adolescenti un po’ zoppi, un po’ insicuri, che faticano a trovare il loro posto nel mondo. Come due mezze stelle opache che incontrandosi producano una luce brillante, insieme colmano gli spazi, illuminano il buio e affascinano il lettore.

“Avevo un futuro che era tutto mio. Dovevo solo farmi avanti e afferrarlo.”

Intorno a loro girano diversi altri personaggi, tutti dettagliati e psicologicamente forti, con una funzione nella trama: gli amici di Maverick, quelli di Eloise e di entrambi; i genitori di lui, il padre di lei. Padre. Padre è una grande parola, una grande figura, e la Cotton ne delinea le due possibili connotazioni, lasciando al lettore quale amare e quale detestare…

Leggete la storia di Prince e Loise, scoprirete che anche due ragazzi molto giovani possono prendere in mano la propria vita e aiutarsi a vicenda a farlo…

If you haven’t read my review on the first book in this series, you probably won’t get this one .. so go read that one then we will talk... go on... I’ll wait..

Maverick was and still is one of my favourite book boyfriends. He’s loyal to a fault, protective, brooding, and vulnerable - the perfect package. BUT ... this book did him some injustice.. his secret, the one that’s caused an unnumbered amount of issues for him is to be frank a bit of a let down. It wasn’t as dirty and heartbreaking as I thought it would be. And maybe it’s because I read a book in between and that characters secret was so heartbreaking and dirty that this didn’t quite meet my expectations but hey .. here we are.
His love for Lo is so swoon worthy I can’t deal. He’s just so dreamy and made me googly eyed

I still really loved the book, couldn’t put it down, didn’t want it to end. The drama with Caitlyn and Maverick was great, I wanted to slap Caitlyn so hard... yes I’m realising these books are turning me into a violent woman. To be fair I would have liked more of their drama .. sometimes things felt a bit rushed.

Lo’s story took a bit of a backseat in this one, there was no resolve in her feelings towards Stella, no further talk of her dads relationship, it was just kind of left dangling, for all to guess, but I’m presuming it’s dealt with further in the series so I can’t wait for that.

Even though I had some issues with wanting more (For those that don’t know Cotton’s writing, it’s addictive, so so addictive - like crack only less soul destroying and more panty melting heart pounding addictive) and I wanted more from the revelations I stand by my four stars, like I said I couldn’t put it down, the angst was great, the drama was there. It was a good book. One that I’ll definitely come back to finish the series off. I really want to read Kyle and Summers story and even Macey’s !!

Questo secondo libro per me è stato una grande delusione. Mi aspettavo troppo probabilmente, non lo so, però mi è sembrato basato quasi sul nulla. Un continuo ripetersi di frasi e concetti senza mai arrivare a fatti concreti e così fino alla fine, quando si risolve tutto come per magia e non ci vengono neanche chiariti i dettagli. Alla fine noi è il tanto atteso secondo capitolo della serie Wicked Bay di L.A. Cotton su cui non vedevo l’ora di mettere le mani. Sono lieta di annunciare che questa autrice non delude mai, ed è stata un’aggiunta superba a quello che era già stato un inizio di serie molto avvincente.

Preparatevi a sussultare, ridere, piangere, provare rabbia e ribollire per lo shock mentre vi aggrappate ad una recondita speranza durante la lettura del romanzo. Maverick e Lois sono finalmente una coppia, ma grazie a una platea di nemici, sono costretti a mantenere segreto il loro amore e il peso inizia a farsi sentire.

“Quello che le avevo detto, come l’avevo trattata… sapevo che meritava di meglio, ma avevo fatto tutto per lei, per proteggerla ed evitare che diventasse un danno collaterale nello schifo della mia vita.”

Finalmente sono insieme, ma lo sono davvero quando devono tenerlo segreto a tutti?

Passano del tempo tra momenti rubati e incontri segreti. Entrambi stanno affrontando i loro demoni, ma almeno questa volta lo fanno insieme. Ma una volta che le cose sembrano finalmente andare nel verso giusto, sono coinvolti in un gioco che nessuno dei due vuole giocare. Bugie, segreti e inganni sono sempre presenti, Lois e Maverick ne hanno già passate tante, ma il peggio deve ancora arrivare.

“Si girò e mi sorrise, uno spettacolo raro per un ragazzo che portava con sé l’oscurità. Un’oscurità che sapevo di aver solo intravisto.”

Lois sapeva che stare con Maverick sarebbe stata una sfida, ma non avrebbe mai immaginato i risvolti negativi. Maverick vive una vita che non è la sua. Alec Prince, suo padre, lo possiede e controlla il suo futuro.

Se Maverick vuole mantenere i suoi cari al sicuro, deve rispettare le regole di gioco di suo padre, e anche se l’amore per Lois lo porta verso la luce, Alec sta già dettando la prossima mossa. Riuscirà Maverick a gestire suo padre abbastanza a lungo da sfuggire al suo controllo? Può impedire all’oscurità di consumarlo? Sarà troppo per Lois stargli accanto mentre affronta questi ostacoli?

“Talvolta dobbiamo fare ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno, ma questa merda con tuo padre, non permettere che ti definisca. Non sei lui, Maverick. Non dargli quel tipo di potere.”

Nel primo capitolo abbiamo imparato molto su Lois e sul suo drammatico vissuto. Questo secondo libro parla più di Maverick e del suo passato. Impara a fidarsi di Lois abbastanza da aprirsi, è un processo interessante e la verità vi spezzerà il cuore tanto quanto lo ha fatto per Lois nel primo libro.

Finalmente scopriamo cosa nasconde Maverick e il rapporto tra lui e suo padre. Scopriamo cosa è successo alla famiglia di Lois e quali sono gli ostacoli che devono affrontare solo per stare insieme, e di certo non sarà stato facile ma ne sarà valsa sicuramente la pena. Maverick Prince per la prima volta dovrà far fronte a sentimenti profondi e sinceri e dovrà imparare a gestirli, non avendolo mai fatto prima.

Lois sin dal primo libro, è stata un personaggio realistico con molta profondità. Il suo passato si intreccia con la sua vita quotidiana, le sue lotte interiori sono qualcosa su cui lavora costantemente. Si concentra sull’essere il supporto per gli altri e si ritira in sé stessa quando riaffiora il suo passato. Non ha affrontato l’incidente e non è brava con i cambiamenti, ma combatte tutti i giorni con tenacia per conquistare la sua felicità.

Mentre Maverick usa il dolore fisico negli incontri per soffocare i suoi problemi, Lois cerca di risolverli. I due si bilanciano a vicenda. Lois incoraggia Maverick a trovare alternative e a non rinunciare al suo sogno, e Maverick incoraggia Lois ad aprirsi con i suoi tempi.

“In quel momento me ne rendevo conto; forse era ciò che mi aveva attirato verso Maverick. Il bisogno di conoscere le parti più oscure della sua anima. Di lenirle. Perché il solo stare con lui, con qualcuno che mi capiva, anche se non sapeva quanto, alleviava alcune parti di me. Eravamo entrambi a pezzi, ma insieme, ci completavamo.”

Maverick sabota continuamente sé stesso e la relazione che potrebbe avere con Lois, costruendo muri e spingendo fuori le persone, perché pensa che lei non sarà in grado di gestire la sua verità. Lois non è contenta del fatto che tutti la tengano all’oscuro, ma fa lo stesso con le persone intorno a lei, e le cose sarebbero molto più facili per loro due se si fidassero l’uno dell’altra.

Quello che mi è piaciuto di più di questo secondo capitolo è che finalmente abbiamo delle risposte. Perché Maverick si comporta in questo modo schivo? Scopriremo tutti i suoi segreti, che causeranno lacrime ed emozioni intense. È una storia d’amore che causerà problemi e porterà pace. Quello che ho amato di più è che due persone distrutte si fanno una promessa e perseverano in tutte le battaglie in salita pur di non rinunciare al loro amore.

Le vicende di Lois e Rick si snodano in un’assolata California tra feste, ville con piscina, eventi sportivi e balli scolastici. Nonostante loro due siano i protagonisti indiscussi di questi primi romanzi, l’autrice ha già gettato delle basi più che solide per i prossimi volumi, che avranno quasi sempre protagonisti diversi, ma che avremo già incontrato.
La serie Wicked Bay è consigliata a tutti gli amanti dei romance new adult, sia per i temi trattati che per lo stile accattivante dell’autrice.

if there's one thing I don't like, it's when the guy has to pretend to date another girl, and he expects the heroine to be super ok with that!
It never works, and if she was the one that had to fake date, I know he wouldn't be chill about it.

L. A. Cotton knows how to write angst. I'm glad this one did not make me tear up like the first one though.
I love these two and I already miss them. Kyle continued to show how incredible he is too and I cannot wait for his book!!!

Maverick and Lo never had it easy. I'm glad their main problem was solved in this book, especially after everything they were put through. I know things will not be easy from now on either, with their long distance relationship, old and new rivals still at play but I cannot wait to see how these two will face it all.

I'm LOVING this series.

This is like a 4.5 for me. The drama was seriously real with this one and if I wasn't crying, I was wishing that I could be there to strangle them. It definitely kept me interested because it wasn't too predictable and a lot of times, I just kept wanting to know how the couple would tackle this next ordeal. I loved seeing Lo accept to just love him through all their issues, but I'll admit, it got scary sometimes to see her turn insecure and contemplate a simpler, safer life over one that'll constantly be bringing heartache. Maverick was... wow. I understood a bit of what was going on in the first book, but this one really solidified a lot of assumptions and worries. The severity of things weren't as crazy as I've read from some other books, but it was major to Maverick and the others, and the longer I read the book, the deeper I got into it. I ended up understanding and getting sucked into their problems until I was just as relieved when the ending came up. I'm kinda worried about the next book because of how frightening this one started out despite the sweet ending of the first book, but it's that kind of anticipation with high school drama (and soon to be college drama!) and shady danger that really gets you going. It's a recommend if you liked anything I had to say.

This has definitely stepped up from the first book. We get more drama, but we also get more Maverick and more of his secrets unravelled. I love that the beginning and ending was Maverick’s POV it’s so important and it’s what makes you understand him and about the sacrifices he endures.

We don’t get to see more Lo in this but I’m glad cause Wicked Rules were all Maverick. I still don’t like her dad and I probably won’t. I still love the characters. Kyle is my favourite.

I’ve just finished Wicked Rules on a high. I FLOVED this book; the good, the bad, the angst and heartache, I loved it all.
I’ve previously read and loved Lianne’s Chastity Falls series. It was so awesome that I wasn’t sure another book could compare. But Wicked Bay... my heart betrayed me and fell in love right there. This series rivals CF big time. Maverick has to be one of the most impossible men on the face of the planet. He’s a mystery, an enigma, a monumental screw-up...or is he really?! Could he be a good guy underneath all the pain, the pressures life has piled on him? Could Lo be his guiding light? And in turn, could he be hers?
Lo’s life is screwed up. She doesn’t know which way is up. Struggling to acclimatise to her new life in Wicked Bay, her life uprooted and tangled up in a way it never was before. There’s so much for her to battle that you begin to wonder if she’s strong enough to shoulder Maverick’s demons too. Can she battle his demons as well as her own? Her previous coping mechanism was drink, drugs, an abyss she could lose herself in so that she didn’t have to face up to her new reality. But now, Maverick could just be the one thing to anchor her.
They both have their problems but they also have love. Is that love strong enough to withstand the brewing storm? It’s only a matter of time before things come crashing in on the crest of the wave, threatening to pull them under. Is what they have built to last?

This book had me feeling allll the feels! I have laughed, I have cried, I have wanted to throw my kindle across the room in a temper. The angst-ridden, almost star-crossed lovers and their friends and family, it all culminates in a brilliant story.
Wicked Rules is superbly written, emotional, reaches dizzying heights and plummets to harsh lows, but it’s all-consuming and nigh on impossible to put down. I wanted more, so much more. I was furiously tapping the side of my kindle to turn the page, but it wouldn’t go any further. I didn’t want it to end, but the crescendo it reached has me teetering on the edge, waiting impatiently for the next book in the series. March is too far away. I want it like yesterday!
There’s so much to look forward to in the next book. I can feel it in the air at the end of this one. It’s like electricity, like lightning crackling in the sky. You know it’s coming but you don’t know when it will strike and what the outcome will be. I’m anticipating it being another amazing instalment in the series, yet more angst for Lo and Maverick. But I have a feeling that as long as they have each other, they can probably conquer anything.

Lianne’s writing immediately draws you in, she weaves an intricate tale and then leaves you desperate for more. It’s like falling down the rabbit hole, not knowing which way is up, yet feeling the excitement of the unknown.

I hope you’ll pick up a copy of Wicked Rules, but don’t forget the story started in Wicked Beginnings. If you haven’t read that one, do so now. You won’t be sorry you did!

È passato circa un mese dall'ultima volta che vi ho parlato di Maverick ed Eloise. Un mese in cui, volente o nolente, i pensieri ritornavano sempre a Wicked Bay, alla situazione in sospeso tra i due protagonisti e alla bomba nucleare che di sicuro sarebbe esplosa, mandando in frantumi ogni mattoncino faticosamente costruito.

Non importava quanto fossero alti i muri che ti costruivi attorno: purtroppo non sarebbero mai stati impenetrabili.

Eloise Stone ha sempre saputo, fin dall'inizio, che il suo rapporto con Maverick Prince sarebbe stato come attraversare un sentiero impervio, ricco di insidie, di trappole e senza nessun rifugio dove trovare riparo. Ma la nostra London è ormai abituata ai cambiamenti che hanno invaso la sua vita con la delicatezza di un elefante in una cristalliera ed è disposta a tutto pur di arrivare fino in fondo e liberare Maverick dai demoni che lo incatenano.

Maverick Prince si sente prigioniero nella sua stessa pelle. Costretto a sottostare agli ordini e ai capricci di suo padre, come fosse un bravo e obbediente burattino nelle mani esperte del suo marionettista, solo per evitare che le persone a cui tiene siano messe in pericolo.

L'oscurità incombe come un'ombra sempre più minacciosa e vicina alle cose belle che Maverick possiede: gli amici, il basket e... London. Soprattutto lei, questa ragazza è la luce che illumina la sua quotidianità; la calma capace di placare la bestia feroce che alberga dentro di lui e l'àncora che lo tiene saldo alla realtà e gli impedisce di lasciarsi andare in balìa delle onde. I nostri due giovani protagonisti impareranno che solo restando uniti saranno davvero invincibili?

Ho concluso questo romanzo con le lacrime agli occhi. Lacrime di felicità, lacrime dal sapore di riscatto, di orgoglio ma anche di malinconia. Ho preso così a cuore London e Maverick che lasciarli, per me, risulta compiere un grande sforzo.

Maverick è uno dei protagonisti più ermetici con cui io abbia mai avuto a che fare e davanti a lui, nonostante questo suo lato misterioso che l'autrice ha smussato grazie all'aggiunta di capitoli narrati dalla sua voce, tutte le mie difese si sciolgono come neve al sole. Muri di cinta che, sia London che Maverick, hanno lasciato che crollassero di fronte alla vastità dei loro sentimenti.

London è una delle protagoniste femminili più coraggiose e più toste che abbia incontrato negli ultimi tempi. Ci sono demoni impossibili da ignorare. Macigni che ci portiamo dentro come fossero delle presenze ingombranti. Buchi neri capaci di risucchiare ogni singola emozione positiva che trovano sul loro cammino e che ci lasciano tristi, vuoti, inutili. Ma non tutto è bianco o nero, non tutto è destinato a perdersi nell'oblio, c'è sempre speranza e anche solo lottare per noi stessi è sufficiente, perché siamo noi, in primis ad essere importanti.

Più volte durante la lettura ho temuto che il lato introverso di Maverick minasse ogni piccolo passo avanti tra lui e London perché, come ha già dimostrato, il nostro Rick ha la tendenza ad allontanare da sé le persone che ama pur di proteggerle. Ma London resterà ferma al suo fianco anche quando il cuore minaccerà di spezzarsi.

«Hai fatto tutto tu?» Si strofinò il viso con una mano. «Per me?»

«Non puoi arrenderti, Maverick. È il tuo sogno. E per un sogno vale la pena lottare.»

Questo romanzo mi è piaciuto tantissimo e la storia di Maverick e London mi ha emozionata oltre ogni limite, anche per i temi e il modo - delicato e intenso insieme - in cui sono stati affrontati.

Lo stile dell'autrice è uno dei miei preferiti; la narrazione in prima persona mi permette di entrare completamente in simbiosi con i protagonisti e di avvertire, così, le stesse loro sensazioni. È stato fantastico sentire le farfalle nello stomaco e il cuore battere concitato sfuggendo del tutto al mio controllo. Ci saranno sempre emozioni e sentimenti che la mente non riuscirà mai a padroneggiare, per quanto una persona possa cercare di razionalizzarle. Non si sceglie chi amare, accade e basta, ed è perfetto così.

After finishing book one, I hungrily dove right into this one. Maverick has finally embraced his feelings- and is finally with Lo. Of course, Maverick’s legacy and deplorable father, amongst other obstacles, force them to keep their newly open love...well...not open. And, they have a lot of demons to face, demons they can face while leaning on each other, even though they can’t do so publicly.

There were times where I wanted to rage and throw my kindle- I hate so much the unnecessary pain and turmoil for these two after all the drama of their path to love. Maverick deserves to be happy, and he certainly deserves better than to suffer the sins of his family, and Lo has so much vulnerability and baggage from her past struggles, I wanted so much for her to just find her peace. Instead, she’s sacrificing herself and her needs in service of others, giving so much to Maverick, and being so patient and generous. But, I definitely loved digging into all the layers of Maverick, and I love that his increased emotional vulnerability gives Lo the safety and emotional connection she needs to start opening up too- even if she closes in on herself a bit.

The chemistry between them is undeniable and even stronger in book 2- magnetic despite the countless obstacles and secrets and all that angsty drama. And with a well rounded cast of secondary players, all the suspense, and emotional character arcs, the story is a great read- the kind of YA/NA addictive story that is highly bingeable and just yummy. Looking forward to more from this series!

Lo and Maverick are where they left off. Wicked Rules starts where Wicked Beginnings ended. It's angsty and full of stomach churning tension. Wicked Rules is everything you would expect from L.A. Cotton's writing. Longing, need, desire drip off the words. Panic, desperation, and pain leach off of the pages. Love shines in the darkness.

Wicked Rules is truly a rollercoaster of "is love enough to keep them from falling apart." With so many outside forces against them, Maverick and Lo are struggling. The reader will struggle. It's so hard to read this book and not fall apart on the inside.

It's wicked alright. Wickedly entertaining. Wickedly addictive. Wickedly consuming. I started and only had to stop because I was trying to read crossword from exhaustion.

Wicked Bay is filled with rich kids playing games. The place is brimming with dangerous games and consequences. It's filled with untapped stories and I can't wait to read them all.

Yet another book that Cotton has smacked out of the park.

This story is a continuation of book one. Although the first book didn't leave it on a cliffhanger, more of a HFN 'Happy for Now', the way Cotton wrote it, meant that we has a small taste of the possibilities, a bit like Skittles, were were allowed to 'Taste the rainbow', and that little lick left us craving more.
With this book, she delivered in spades.
This is a duel POV, which personally, I love. It allowed us to delve into Mavericks thoughts and feelings. Situations which left unanswered questions in book one, concluded with some surprising results.
The emotions in this story were more raw than book one. The H and h being pulled apart, at times, made me feel breathless, just because of their sadness.
This series is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

I really enjoyed the second book in the Wicked Bay series and could not wait to jump back in Maverick and Lo's life. Book two was fantastic. It was sexy, emotional and filled to the brim with secrets. It was angsty yet equally heartwarming and I could not get enough.

This book continued roughly right where book one left off but we are given more of a glimpse into Maverick's head and heart. I enjoyed that we saw more of his emotional and vulnerable side when it came to Lo. His emotions felt heartfelt and honest and his strong feelings for her screamed off the page. Likewise, Lo realized she was in deep with Maverick but his secretive and stoic behavior surrounding his college plans and his father was a huge hurdle she had to bear. I felt her frustration and sympathized.

All in all Wicked Rules was addicting, super intense and consuming and I could not put it down. I look forward to more from this author in the future Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

London e Maverick finalmente iniziano ad assaporare il piacere di amarsi, dopo essersi rincorsi.
Ma come succede spesso, la realtà fa capolino ed il burattinaio tende le sue fila per impedire ai due giovani ragazzi di essere felici.
Il signor Prince, perfetto all’apparenza ma oscuro al suo interno, presenta il conto al giovane figlio ricattandolo nella maniera più subdola..

Ma se Maverick è disposto a rischiare tutto per salvaguardare Lois, Lois mette lui prima di ogni cosa: anche se stessa.

Ed è questo il problema.. lei si sta sgretolando dentro in nome del loro amore.

You know that moment when you've read book one of a series and loved it so hard that you're eagerly awaiting #2 but it's not out for another couple months.. then you get the chance to read an ARC copy.. yup THAT MOMENT!! - well i just fangirled so hard and would've given my right kidney because I just needed more of Maverick.. troubled swoon-worthy Maverick.
L.A Cotton delivers the perfect mix of the present and Maverick's back story as he lays his ghosts out to Lo waiting to see if she'll run or weather the storm. "We were both broken, but together, we were whole." Lo has her own demons and we see her battle these as she tries to help Maverick deal with a past that is forcing him in a direction that he doesn't want to go.
These two are characters that just totally get under your skin, so much so that you just keep flipping the pages when your eyes need matchsticks to keep them open! Especially when the chemistry is off the charts
Emotions run high as you wait to see if they will get their HEA.
"And for the rest of the morning Maverick made me forget nothing and promised me everything." - a great story, emotional with ALL the feels, perfect!

Along for the ride are other residents of Wicked Bay whose stories I can't wait to read... Kyle has to be my favourite.. witty joker with a heart of gold - what is his secret ? Cotton does a great job here of creating intrigue ready for his story.. can't wait !!

È passato circa un mese dall'ultima volta che vi ho parlato di Maverick ed Eloise. Un mese in cui, volente o nolente, i pensieri ritornavano sempre a Wicked Bay, alla situazione in sospeso tra i due protagonisti e alla bomba nucleare che di sicuro sarebbe esplosa, mandando in frantumi ogni mattoncino faticosamente costruito.

Non importava quanto fossero alti i muri che ti costruivi attorno: purtroppo non sarebbero mai stati impenetrabili.

Eloise Stone ha sempre saputo, fin dall'inizio, che il suo rapporto con Maverick Prince sarebbe stato come attraversare un sentiero impervio, ricco di insidie, di trappole e senza nessun rifugio dove trovare riparo. Ma la nostra London è ormai abituata ai cambiamenti che hanno invaso la sua vita con la delicatezza di un elefante in una cristalliera ed è disposta a tutto pur di arrivare fino in fondo e liberare Maverick dai demoni che lo incatenano.

Maverick Prince si sente prigioniero nella sua stessa pelle. Costretto a sottostare agli ordini e ai capricci di suo padre, come fosse un bravo e obbediente burattino nelle mani esperte del suo marionettista, solo per evitare che le persone a cui tiene siano messe in pericolo.

Ho concluso questo romanzo con le lacrime agli occhi. Lacrime di felicità, lacrime dal sapore di riscatto, di orgoglio ma anche di malinconia. Ho preso così a cuore London e Maverick che lasciarli, per me, risulta compiere un grande sforzo.

Maverick è uno dei protagonisti più ermetici con cui io abbia mai avuto a che fare e davanti a lui, nonostante questo suo lato misterioso che l'autrice ha smussato grazie all'aggiunta di capitoli narrati dalla sua voce, tutte le mie difese si sciolgono come neve al sole. Muri di cinta che, sia London che Maverick, hanno lasciato che crollassero di fronte alla vastità dei loro sentimenti.

London è una delle protagoniste femminili più coraggiose e più toste che abbia incontrato negli ultimi tempi. This book is more like L.A. I remember and love!

I don't know what really makes a difference, maybe it's double POV or maybe it's something else, but I don't care.

I really enjoyed this book. Some secrets and twist are finally resolved. We got to see who Maverick is and how he thinks. There was a lot of angst and drama and I seriously liked this one.

The ending was nice. We get closure and hints of a crossover in their lives that will follow with book three.Can't wait for March and Wicked Lies.
