Even though Nell felt right at home as the palm reader at Scotland’s Baillie Castle, a romantic bed and breakfast, her own love life fell short. Surrounded daily by married and engaged couples, Nell enjoyed her independence, though there was this one sweet crush she had on a fantasy knight in shining armor.
Her delightful end of summer is shoved into a powerful hurricane of mystery when an evil druid battles for her service, throwing her into nightmares and catatonic trances. Will her infatuation with the professional knight rescue her from the darkness or is he entrenched with the dreaded Druid?
The hurricane reaches Category 5 intensity when a magic coin, the diva queen squad and a pair of witches collide at the castle. Will magic be enough to save Nell from a broken heart or cause certain death?
Kathleen Shaputis is well experienced in the headline lifestyles of the baby boomer generation. Struck by Meniere's Disease, her writing time has been limited but the muse continues to nudge. She writes romantic comedies, nonfiction and has a ghostwriter on a dozen books.
After years of presenting at various writers conferences and community colleges on writing, marketing, book printing and self-publishing, she's had to give up these wonderful events, as well as ghostwriting, due to the disease as well.
She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband, Bob, two pompous Pomeranians, a socially inept blue tick hound and a clowder of cats.
I can’t thank Kathleen Shaputis enough for the enjoyable hours spent reading Their Witch Wears Plaid, the third book in her Baillie Castle series. On one hand, this story is a lighthearted read, loveable, funny characters, wonderful descriptive scenery of Scotland, castles, and a very handsome ghost who pops in at will. I loved our heroine Nell from the start. Her special ability—sorry—no spoilers—has always fascinated me. Ms. Shaputis did a great job bringing those abilities to life in her character, making me believe and fear for Nell. That brings me to the suspense in Their Witch Wears Plaid. One moment I thought I figured it out, and then the next page completely confused me. There’s an intriguing love interest in this story. Am I supposed to love her knight in his shining armor or want Nell to have nothing to do with him? It’s a fun ride to the last page. Last, I can’t say enough about our evil villain who is out to wreck havoc on anyone who stands in his way. Ms. Shaputis did a marvelous job keeping me second guessing just who the villain really is and what he is after. If you are looking for a fun, fast read where you laugh one moment and hold your breath the next, you can’t go wrong with Their Witch Wears Plaid. I highly recommend this book.
The story just didn't hold my attention. I couldn't get into it for some reason. I felt like a lot of it was predictable and I couldn't develop a good connection to the story or characters. I really do wish I liked it more because any book about witches is amazing in my opinion, but this one just didn't work for me. Maybe I'll try to pick it up again one day when I have more time and patience.
I have to be honest in the fact that this book did not win me over. In fact, I had to start this book over a second time. Of course, hoping that the second time would be better. I did get further the second time.
The characters did not invite me into their world. Although, the world was interesting. It is part of the reason that I stuck with the book as long as I did. The lingo that the characters spoke was fine but the fact that some of the characters spoke with no accent and others did with the multiple flip flopping was a bit hard to read for me.
I did jump ahead to speed up the reading process. In doing so, I didn't feel like I missed any important facts but I had yet to crack a laugh. If I could have found the humor and the connection with the characters, this actually would have been a fun book to read in my case.

Will magic be enough to save Nell from a broken heart or cause certain death? This was a pretty good story. I really liked Nell. The setting in Scotland mixed perfectly well with the paranormal aspect. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review. I love this book. Although this is the third book in the series, it was easy enough to catch up on who the characters are for someone just starting on book three. I love the main character Nell, and I think that it's great our heroine doesn't have to be a perfect size 6 to be attractive and interesting. This was an entertaining story and I am excited to go back to read the first two books in the series.
I can safely say that the stories about the Baillie clan was worth the read!
Each character had their own special flavor to make the novel flow with a desire for more! There was some things that were unclear to me on the part of the evil Druid, but as Shakespeare says 'All's well that ends well'!
A castle, and a witch, yes please! Quirky characters make for an interesting read. I enjoyed the castle setting and vivid descriptions. I would recommend reading the first two in the series first, because it would be easier to figure out who is who.
Real magic and adventure in a modern setting, with dashing heroes and bold heroines, this is a tale for the ages. I absolutely loved reading this, and I was sad when it was over.
