The first Warlock to enter a formal school of magic, Wesley, delves into a world he scarcely knows, ill-equipped, unprepared, and by far unwelcome. Adamant in proving that his kind belongs, he aspires to someday reach the title of All Powerful Mage—a task, he learns, much easier said than done. With hundreds of students itching to take him down, instructors baring a fanatical intent to fail him, and an unfolding mystery behind the relic created by a shroud of a man, known as Benjamin Caster, does Wesley stand a chance at passing the final exams? He certainly hopes so... ...and the rest of the world depends on it.
E. D. Watley writes from his home in southern California, where the sun is hot and the masks are plenty. On his downtime, he enjoys hanging out with friends and family, learning home improvements, (pre-covid) boxing, and of course writing.
Favorite authors: R. A. Salvatore, Dean Koontz, Matthew Dicks, Richard A. Clarke, Terry Goodkind, John Green, and few lists would be complete without J. K. Rowling and George R. R. Martin (including his sci fi).
Stay safe out there everyone! And if you have to be on lockdown at least you have a good book.
This book was recommended on my kindle. I have to say I was not expecting much, but 25 pages in I was hooked and could not put this book down. This book has it all; wiccans, sorcerers and warlocks in a kind of Harry Potter like school setting. The duels and the spell strategies made for great reading. The plot combined the best of fantasy in a setting similar to Vivian Malone the first black student entering the University of Alabama. I cannot wait for Watley's next book and I highly recommend this to anyone who likes classic fantasy and rooting for the underdog.
As a Harry Potter fan and all things 'magic academy', this book was up there. The characters were thoroughly detail, and the magic was well crafted and well explained. The leads Wesley, Cameron, Axel, and Sri were what held the story together as I was VERY invested in their adventures or endeavors.
People should really REALLY need to know about this book, so it can be a huge series, I won't take anything less than at least 10 more books in this series. But alas I'll desperately wait for the second book for right now, hoping it won't be too long.
Two unfinished sentences at the end of the book with two very possible plot points. Are you trying to make me buy the next book? … oh. Yes. okay then. Story had a good buildup, I feel that it had actual substance. The magic system is just different enough to peek your interest if you felt burnt out by these types of books.
A book for young adults, everything mostly black and white, mc is a person with a heart of good on his sleeve. If that’s your thing then great but while I liked it when I was younger, now it just seems naive to me
It was a decent read. I liked the side characters a lot. But while I will admit I liked the book, it had some glaring problems. Most notably, the unlikelyhood of the weak defenses around a certain magical artifact.
Spoiler alert:
Who in their right mind would place the magical equivalent of a frigging nuclear missile on a display stand in a school!?! Not only that, the security spells on it are weak enough that somehow a first year student is able to break them. How unlikely is that? Even the Philosopher's stone in HP was better secured.
I really hope the author will pay more attention to the likelihood of certain events taking place in the second book.

I enjoyed this story. The view on sorcery, wiccans and warlocks was different than what is usually portrayed in stories. I enjoyed seeing Wesley grow into a great sorcerer despite all the haters that were around him. He wanted to give up several times, but his true friends got him through it all. Awesome read! You will not be disappointed!
A good story with interesting characters, and edited very well. It’s good work for a first book. A big problem for me though was that many scenes seemed disconnected, and not just with each other. At times the plot also seemed rushed, and characters did some things that seemed very out of character. Overall though, not a bad story, and a new series worth checking out.
If you have read Mageborn, or the Battlemage series by Donald Wigboldy and liked them, you may love this The story was well written, and one of the best I have stumbled upon in sometime. There is no denying the Harry Potter feel to it, but this pulled me into the story much more. I can't wait to read another.

How can this book not be more known. A book that makes you not only want to read about the MC but also hope to learn more about every character in the book.
Hope book 2 was already wrote and is out by Christmas as a present to everyone.
I thought the book was amazing but you can tell this was the first book this author ever wrote. Just some places I felt like I was reading the book as if it was book to in the series but did not Impact most of my teading and I really imjoyed it!
Very good book with a unique magic system. What's more amazing is as best I can tell this is this authors first book and I can't find anything about him on the web. I of course was going to beg him to write the sequel faster. This is well developed writing for a first novel. Awesome man
This is a great read, loved the story, character development. I'll definitely be reading more from this author. I hope their will be a sequel, because I'll definitely be reading it.
Amazing book! My sister gave this to me as an aside, some random book she got for free at some convention and didn't think much of. But man this was really really good! I really liked the world and characters, the school/setting is Hogwarts inspired but different enough to be interesting.
I really resonated with the plot - while predictable at times, it was still satisfying to read. Kinda like boy Vs the world type of thing, it was inspiring!
A Harry Potter fac-simile with a really well tough universe but over powered child-heroes and too simple a plot.
I would have liked this book to have a scenario progression more distinct from Harry Potter. Even the group composition (3 boys, 1 girl) is similar to Harry Potter.
