Spencer Jamison may not lace up his boots as a Navy SEAL any longer, but that doesn't stop him from being the hottest service man I've ever laid eyes on. And don't get me started on his adorable dog.
Dating Spencer is great... until the dead body turns up.
Megan Matthews loves writing humorous romantic suspense featuring heroes with unbelievable abs, billionaire bosses, and heroines with attitude for days. She lives in Michigan with her techie husband, homeschooled son, their cat, and two guinea pigs.
When she’s not writing, you can find her on Instagram posting about reading, home life, half-dead plants, her ridiculous notebook and fancy pen collections, plus the occasional crochet project.
The third book in the Pelican Bay Series will set your Kindle on fire. This is a great series and the Pelican Bay Security guys are hot and hotter. Spencer and Joslin's story is one you will find yourself getting into to. He's a gorgeous ex-Navy Seal and one anyone would love to have as their book boyfriend. A cute story with some twists and plenty of sizzle. I read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Spencer has left his career as a Navy SEAL in the past and is now working at Pelican Bay Security however he never expected his dog Frankie would actually be a matchmaker when he meets Jolie while at the pet store.
Joslin is a nurse who is enchanted both by the dog and its owner but between Frankie and an ongoing investigation their relationship may be chaotic but so entertaining to watch. I am looking forwarding to reading more books set in this locale.
This book is high energy and moves at warp speed. It is better to have read the previous books in the series so you can understand the characters, and this is the third book. Overall, I loved the dog, Frankie, and Spencer, the SEAL. I did not think Joslin stayed in character as a nurse when she sneaked into the old house because she was scared, then screamed when she saw a dead body. I also didn't think she should have been bragging about sex with her girlfriends, which made the relationship seem shallow.

This is a quick read and would be a good fit for someone looking for characters in their early/mid 20s. Personally I found Joslin a bit immature and would have liked to see a little more of the story from Spencer's perspective.
**Received ARC for a fair and honest review** Holiday Risk is a novella in the Pelican Bay Security series. I'd rate this book at 4.5 stars. This is a fun, fast paced book that was hard to put down. The author does a great job giving you just the right amount of romance, humor, and action in her books, and this book is no different. If you like hot and steamy, you get that too, good chemistry between the characters, and love the sub-characters! Can't wait for more of their stories!! The men in the stories are kind, caring, without being pushovers, and best of all they are not players that met the right woman and are now suddenly reformed. The only gripe I have is the ending. SPOILER!!!!! SPOILER!!! SPOILER!!! SPOILER!!! SPOILER!!! SPOILER!!! The book ends right when they determine they are in a relationship, which felt like it was stopped s short, but the author does give you an epilogue with a little more, however she talks about meeting the family and her dad (trying to be vague in case you the spoiler part was missed...) and Spencer meeting them, was all excited to see how that went and it never happened. That's why I didn't give 5 stars. Overall, very enjoyable!! Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
This is book three in the Pelican Bay Security series. It’s Spencer and Joslin’s story. I loved this story. It was cute, funny, hot and steamy. I couldn’t put it down and there were some seriously funny parts. Man, Frankie is pure trouble and that dogs’ pure antics had me rolling. I can’t wait for book four.
Spencer is new in town. He’s there as a new employee at Ridges security company Spencer served in the Navy as a SEAL with Ridge. Joslin is a nurse at the local hospital. They meet when Spencer’s dog Frankie plows into Joslin at the pet store. Spencer asks for a date and they end up going through a series of dates that are so bad they’re funny partly thanks to Frankie the trash eating hound. This dog will eat anything. There’s a part in the book about Frankie eating a bar of Joslin’s favorite soap that had me in stitches. Joslin ends up being pulled into the danger surrounding a case Ridge and the guys have been working. Will Spenser save the day?

The story of Spencer and Joslin is fun and friendly and sweet and absolutely hot. I love Spencer. I love him more than I love Bennett, and while Anessa is sweet and fun, Joslin turns it all up a notch. Like Anessa she is quirky, a major weirdo at times, strong and independent and fierce. Somehow Joslin just seems to push it all up a notch. She takes on what comes her way even if she is terrified out of her mind. Of course Regina is a hoot. Seeing the gang is fun, but I missed Katy and Pierce. I love the added element of Frankie. The suspense and mystery and action combined with the sweet, loving, kind people of the small town rounds out the book to perfection. A little follow up after would be welcome, more of the HEA than the HFN with the HEA to come. It would be fun to see the parents/family in action. I look forward to going back to read Security Risk as well as moving forward to Sweetest Risk, Quickest Risk, etc.

Holiday Risk Pelican Bay Security Holiday novella Written by Megan Matthews 5 stars
I absolutely love this series. I was anxiously (not patiently) awaiting this book. I find myself in the same position for the next book since I finished Holiday Risk. I just couldn't put it down! There is so much potential to write more about the Pelican Bay Security men...I hope Megan doesn't get tired of them...I know I won't!
“I already have one woman destroying my life; I have no plans to look for another.”
Spencer is part of a security team of ex-Navy SEAL’s. Most would stereotype him as a tough, confident, strong ex military man...he has a soft spot that you will fall in love with.
This story had the perfect blend in its storyline of mystery, humor, attraction, alpha, jealousy, humor….did I mention humor?

This book is about a young pediatric nurse named Joslin who meets a former SEAL named Spencer while Spencer was in the pet store trying to buy supplies for his dog, Frankie. Joslin and Spencer are immediately attracted to each other and a love story begins, interspersed with an event that brings suspense and danger - the finding of a dead body. Who is the dead guy? And why is he dead? Readers find out about the growing romance between Joslin and Spencer while there begin dangerous things like threats, explosions, kidnappings, and danger in general. Can Spencer keep Joslin safe? And all of this is while there are fun descriptions of the funny antics of Frankie the dog. This was a fun book to read and not too long, which is nice because I don't always have time to read longer books!

This is the third book in the Pelican Bay series but it is the first book I have read by this author. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It is a sweet short story about Spenser and Joslin. Spenser is an ex navy seal who works for a security firm. Joslin is a maternity ward nurse. They are brought together by a puppy called Frankie. I really enjoyed the story. There are a lot of funny parts that will definitely make you smile or laugh out loud. The story flows and reads very well. Not having read the two previous books did not interfere with my ability to enjoy the story.
Reading this story will leave you with a feel good feeling. It will be time very well spent.

I started reading Holiday Risk while drinking my first cup of morning coffee. This is something I don't recommend unless you have the day off. I was so into reading the book, I was almost late for work. Spencer is a SEAL, now working security in Pelican Bay. He is super hunky, very sweet and a great book boyfriend. However, it's Joslin that steals the show. She is the perfect blend of smart yet innocent. I loved her internal talks with herself, how she bumbled through life, but never lost her cool. Holiday Risk is the first book I've read in the series. It was so enjoyable, I immediately went looking for more. Imagine my happy surprise to find I already had Book 1, Security Risk, in my TBR pile. As of the date of this review, it's free on Amazon.
Welcome back to Pelican Bay, where the men are all unbelievably sexy alphas and their chosen women all are on the sassy, kooky side. Spencer and Joslin are no exception! Spencer's rambunctious puppy engineers a meeting, and these two have the funniest, most awkward first couple of dates imaginable. Pelican Bay is anything but quiet, so having a dead body turn up isn't all that shocking ...... and taking care of the mounting problems is right up Spencer's alley. A Rom-com filled with danger, mystery, action and intrigue, this is a book not to miss. Eccentric characters, an adorable puppy, and a love to last a lifetime, I laughed and grinned my way through this book. Happy Reading!!

This is book three in the Pelican Bay Security series. This is Spencer's story. Joslin is an ER nurse that finds herself attracted to a former SEAL and a man that works for Ridge at his security firm. In Spencer's favour, he is also the proud owner of one of the puppies, Frankie, that was found and rescued at a bachlorette party he attended. On their second date, this small town romance gets flipped on its lid and everything accelerates including their feelings for one another. This was an enjoyable read where the story flowed smoothly and kept you turning 'just one more page'. Enjoy!

This story was a lot of fun! It has romance, humor, and suspense. Spencer is a former Navy Seal who works with a bunch of guys for a specialized security company. He meets pediatric nurse Joslin at a pet store while he's there with his pup Frankie. They are just the sweetest trio, even with all of the crazy stuff going on around them. Spencer is so sweet, protective, and hot! How can a girl resist that? This is the first book that I have read in The Pelican Bay Security series, but it won't be the last. This new book in the Pelican Bay Security series was a blast to ready. Spencer and Joslin's story is funny, hot, sexy and just downright fun to watch unfold. I really don't want to spoil anything, but I can tell you that there were certain parts of this book that had me bursting out laughing and there was just enough action and romance blended together to make it a very fast-paced read. I am loving this series so far!

Book 3 in the Pelican Bay Securities series and it is my favorite so far!! Spencer is seriously HOT, Joslin is endearing, and Frankie is an incorrigible eat-anything-in-sight lovable dog who creates some hilarious situations that put the comedic into the romantic comedy genre!! Great storyline and I am really glad that I stumbled onto this series and this talented author!! Will be reading the rest of the books in this series and then look into whatever else Megan Mathews has written!

Spencer and Joslin meet in the pet store thanks to Spencer's dog Frankie. The connection is instant. When they stumble across a dead body while on their way for a date, Spencer takes Joslin's protection seriously resulting in a relationship. Ultimately this is a story of two people finding love where and when they least expected it. An enjoyable read with likable characters.

Spencer and Joslin will melt your kindle with this fast-paced, action-packed steamy story. This is my first book by this author and I am sort of disappointed I didn't start from the beginning of the series. This had a nice balance between the steam and action that I couldn't put it down. I will be picking up the rest of the books now too.
