Rate this book
From roaring waterfalls and crashing waves to gentle rain and billowing clouds, water pervades our planet’s majestic biosphere. It is easy to take for granted. But this ever-present substance is amazingly fit in a myriad of ways to sustain life on Earth, especially human life. Its unique properties allow it to fill many roles throughout the biological world, from forming the matrix of our cells, to regulating the temperature of our planet.
In The Wonder of Water, biologist Michael Denton delves deep into this grand, untold story and explores how water is specially equipped to allow life to flourish on our blue planet.

This book was incredibly interesting. It shows how amazing something as common as water is and how without it, none of us would be here to know about it! I really recommend this book if you want to be in awe of the design God placed in the universe!

This was a good book that was filled with interesting and useful material. It was also quite raw and seemed self-published (it may have been). As a result, there were significant weaknesses in the book. For example, while the pictures in the book added to the content, most of the diagrams did not; they were more of a distraction. The book also contained a great deal of material that was repeated – too many times. Then, many of the arguments were unnecessarily circular. I could see those arguments being very frustrating to someone who operates within an evolutionary mindset. But, with these exceptions, the rest of the book’s content was excellent and informative.

Fascinating.

I have such great respect for scientists as they painstakingly study minute things. This study of water was an absolute page turner. Who would have thought the topic of water could be so mesmerizing. Thank you Mr. Denton!

Everything I wanted to know about water and more.

Very brief but interesting thesis about water and it's many varied properties. Very clearly presented and easy to read. I would recommend it for a rainy weekend read.

Cool, cool water. Its many properties are just right to support, even enable, life on Earth. This includes physical (inorganic) activities as well as organic. Interesting book.
