Intentional Event Design Our Professional Opportunity

Rate this book
Our role as event professionals is to create experiences steeped in trust, where our audiences feel their participation in our event was the best use of their time and financial investment and our stakeholders see the value from investing in worthwhile events. This requires our event designs to bring out the best in human nature by making intentional decisions based on the knowledge available about our participants and their needs. Deeply understanding how human beings respond in live event environments is our new currency. The seven intentions include developing stronger event processes, understanding how to make the most of the available technology and data including digital marketing, designing to optimize the experience through immersive, brain-friendly design, and creating sustainable, wellness-driven events. At the end of this book, any event professional will have a deep range of new ideas and applicable tools to drive stronger, measurable results.

Not a bad resource, but wasn't the best writing (comma usage was little to non-existent and would have helped in understanding the author's thoughts and commentary). It is more geared towards meeting planning, so if you can't convert the ideas into other event models, this won't be as useful. Overall it had helpful information, especially for beginner planners.

This book is a great “bible” for event planners, specifically those organizing conferences, meetings, trainings, and incentive trips. Tahira breaks down every aspect of the business, from effectively communicating with stakeholders to creating functional floor plans, selecting color palettes, food and beverages choices, and incorporating health and wellness for all attendees and planning team. The book is full of valuable resources that are sure to enhance any event being planned. However, my only critique is that at times, the author's use of complex terminology can be overwhelming and truthfully unnecessary.

Lots of great resources and vision prompts, could have been organized better.
Formatting (possibly due to Amazon printing?) was also distracting and took away from the book's content.
Overall worthwhile read :)
