With such short lives, death is an all too familiar thing to Rats. But when his mother is exterminated by the humans Uphrasia's grief- and his anger knows no bounds: With planet Earth laid bare by environmental disaster, and mankind hell-bent on their extermination, there is only one place for rats to go.
The g-force almost crushes his tiny body as the massive intergalactic ship blasts off into the cold darkness of space. Leaving behind all that is familiar, and catapulted into an unknown future, Uphrasia is destined to face the greatest perils of his short life.
Let the Frontier Rats take you on an intergalactic adventure into a universe of perilous new worlds, strange life forms and hostile aliens, where only the bravest of rats can survive.
Quest for Ratopia is the first book in this super-fast paced three-part sci-fi adventure series.
Once again I ended up reading a book probably aim to children by mistake.... But like it happened at other times I enjoyed it.
My only critic would be that considering how bad are the bad guys, the end could have somehow bring a sense of justice a bit more than it did. Not in dramatic ways of course, for the children, but here considering the crimes, which I won't reveal, the sentence could have reflected that.
Either way a very good book and some nice morals about settling differences between races and working together for the greater good.
If children books are not your things then it's a very good book to offer a child who enjoy reading and enjoy rats!
First off, I am not into science fiction but as I received this novel as a Goodreads giveaway it was only fair I read it. I had convinced myself I wouldn't like it. In fact, I stuck with it and was surprised to find I enjoyed it. I don't think I'll read the other four novels in the series because, as stated, I don't normally read science fiction. Frontier Rats was well-written with good descriptions and okay dialogue.
