Una guía completa para los aficianodos al vino. Es posible saber todo sobre el vino desde la producción hasta cómo leer la etiqueta. Un libro de referencia muy completa recomendado para todos interesados en vinos.
A book about wine and in French is a good place to start and a book that heavily features French wines, even better! If you know lots about wine already, you may not necessarily find this to be a lot of new information but it is a beautiful presentation of many different aspects surrounding wine. I found it was great to explain some of the intricacies about how French wine is classified, how it is hidden behind the Marianne in various colours and random letters over the cork, which until now, meant nothing to me except that it obviously came out of France. I still give it four stars for presentation, for clear explanation and a nice easy read and it is a great reference for flavour profiles, how to host a proper tasting, how things are made and why they are the way that they are. So while it may not all have been new, I did really enjoy it and I love being able to look at all the different regions and what they're known for.
This was the 1a to Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wineas far as my favorite intro wine books. Also a very extensive profile of individual wines/grapes, their locations for cultivation and the standard guide to drinking them. Rocket Science adds an overview of vineyards, goes into more detail on the techniques of winemaking, food pairings, hangover recipes and how to spit at a tasting.
a good guide for who wants to get started in the wine world. It is not so serious, understand the needs of the reader, and has good jokes about people from this area!!! I stressed the page with the phrases everyone can use for everywine, it works. Really nice graphic design and well divided in chapters.
Very informative book. So much so, that I plan to purchase a copy as a reference manual! I wouldn’t say I am a wine novice, but I am certainly not a wine expert. This book helps everyone along the spectrum. Nicely written and accented with great graphics and easy to understand maps and tables. Highly recommend this book.
This is the book I was looking for - an overview of wines from vineyard to glass. Very detailed and more of a reference than actual narrative. Still, well organized, informative, and easy to read. I read a library copy but plan to buy a copy for myself.
I loved this book enough to get my own copy for reference. The information was laid out on the pages with good margins and pictures. I don’t like a reference book where the authors try to put so much on a page. Cheers!!🍷
As a wine lover, I liked this book. Some wine books can be complicated and a bit overwhelming. This one is in very simple terms & includes many drawings that help to 'glue' the information in your brain.
It includes information on the smells and flavors that you can expect with different types of wines, what makes the wine great, and how to pair wine with food. (The writer is from France, so there is a bit of a bias here.)
A wine expert?.. no doubt you will find this book very elementary. However, the market for this book is the wine lover who just really wants the basics...nice & easy.
Overall, a pretty good primer on winemaking and wine tasting. The writing is breezy but informative, and the illustrations (especially notes on tasting varietals) are quite helpful. I'd recommend this to anyone who's interested in getting into wine.
One caveat: The book is pretty ecumenical with regard to wine regions - most of the major growing areas in the world get a mention. However, since the writer is from France, it does tend to be a bit more focused on Old World wines, especially French. Even so, the general tips about tasting apply to any wine.
Loved this book. Easy and fun to read with lots of useful pictures and infographics. Definitely good for an interested and semi-informed novice wine drinker. Definitely skews francophile, but don't most wine lovers? I wasn't crazy about the way the book was laid out (little characters on little trips or whatever), but I loved the information it contained. It seems like the Index could use a little work, but I need to play around with it.
I checked this book out from the library and just may buy it for myself!
My mum bought me this book as an 18th birthday present and up until now I had only browsed it, tomorrow I’m throwing a mini wine tasting so I figured it was about time I read it. I love this book, it is very informative and a fun and engaging read, it has different sections so you can find the exact information you need, it is very detailed and has a lot of illustrations. This book has definitely helped me prepare for my wine and cheese tasting, and it’s definitely something I will refer back to when I need Wine advice.
It was a rather basic book. Some information provided were rather imprecise (Talking about wine: phrases that work every time). The pictures and diagrams were really good and illustrative.
