THE BERRY PATCH (The Adventures of Scout & Kit: #1) Written by Elise Monsour Puckett Illustrated by Tessa Riley 2017; Roly Poly Books Publishing Company (38 Pages) Genre: children's, picture book, education, illustration
RATING: 4 STARS
The illustrations in this picture book are outstanding. They are done by pencil crayons and I am in awe! This is what I want my (adult) colouring to be like, even by 10%, lol. Elise, the writer, sent me some colouring sheets, and you bet your ass I am going to be colouring those in the future. The story of a talking mouse, Henry, educating two human children on berries is more interesting than it may sound. The author is able to make the "education" aspects into a fun story, that will keep a small reader still till the end of the story.
Fun, simple, and educational. Though an easy to comprehend story, this will also be a fun vocabulary builder for my sweet girl once she gets a little bigger, and the illustrations I'm sure will delight her for years to come with so many gorgeous colors and hidden treasures. This is fabulous and I'm so glad to have added it to my child's library.
Beautiful book that feels whimsical and makes me wish to be a kid again! Also made me hungry for berries! Make sure to pick this up, any kid will love the how the story comes to life through Scout and Kit’s imaginations and gorgeous illustrations!
Such a cute story about a brother and sister's adventure in a berry patch. My niece especially enjoyed this story and the illustrations of adorable animals.
This is a wonderful book that teaches an important lesson in a really smart, and fun way. My son was captivated by the gorgeous illustrations, and even my 8 year old loved to read it to her brother (I think she loved the book herself, but she's "too cool" for picture books, now XD) I highly recommend this book to all families, but especially those who like to play outside together!
