I am indebted to Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his exciting and greatly improved translation of Romans 13, verses 1 to 7:
1 Let every soul be subject unto Donald Trump. For there is no power but of God: Donald Trump is ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth Donald Trump, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 For Donald Trump is not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of Donald Trump? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For Donald Trump is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for Donald Trump beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for Donald Trump is God's minister, attending continually upon this very thing.

7 Render therefore to Donald Trump dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Who could find it in his heart to question these wise and holy words?

This book is a commentary on Romans. The author gave some background information about the book and then commented on the verses as he worked verse-by-verse through Romans. It works best if you read the passage and then read his comments. He provided word studies, background information, and preaching-style insights into the meaning of the text. I thought he did a good job of helping explain potentially confusing verses and bringing out insights from the text. Overall, I'd recommend this useful Bible-study tool.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through Amazon Vine.

Romans Is a great book and knowledge about Romans. It starts off talking about Paul then it is a little bit geared toward those you have familiarity with the Scriptures - but that is just my opinion - it does tells us what the book of Romans is about - what its importance is - the greeting - the theme - and so on - very interesting - all that you could want to know about Romans. I received a copy of this review from the Publisher and Netgalley; all of the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

if you would like to read more of my Christian book reviews go to christianlybookreviewers.blogspot.com - I look forward to seeing you there.

Romans (Everyday Bible Commentary series). Alan F Johnson

The book of Romans outlines the important basic doctrines of the christian faith. So, it is important that we read and understand the book clearly.

This commentary seeks to simplify these difficult concepts and explain these clearly. The author tackles the text in a verse by verse format, providing a virtual translation of the book. A lot of time is taken to give background to Paul and the text, and to place the letter in historical context.

The most difficult passages are given extra detail and some of the different points of view are explained.

Romans is an important book of the bible to understand. I found this a good basic commentary, especially good for young christians. Personally i found some of the explanations served more to confuse than simplify. I feel it is important to read around the subjects of salvation, justification and sanctification in addition to just reading a commentary. This was not the best commentary i have read on romans, nor the best in the series.

The book of Romans may be described as a treatise on the gospel as well as the Christian faith. Therefore, it joins other Biblical books in the category of a very deep and rich book of the Bible. Thus saying, there are things presented in Romans that would even lead to controversies as well as challenging discussions.

This commentary is presented in a way that will assist the layperson in the journey toward gaining a better understanding of Romans. The author lays everything out in narrative form using real-life examples while also providing background information which helps the reader form thoughts and ideas to assist in the challenging talks that will come out out of the studies in and discussions about this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and the thoughts expressed are my own.
