Liz McAllister is looking forward to a much-needed spring break. But when she travels home to Clearfield, Pennsylvania, she discovers that something strange is happening around her sleepy little hometown.
The peace is abruptly shattered as earthquakes split the ground and falling satellites burn across the sky. Hordes of vicious monsters materialize across the world and the Earth is engulfed in chaos.
Cut off from the outside world, Liz teams up with Mike and their small group of friends. Together they desperately battle the monsters that are devastating Clearfield.
Their efforts are aided by the discovery of magic and the arrival of otherworldly allies. But even with new allies and magical powers, the evil hordes are unending and the fate of our world hangs in the balance.
The story line has a lot of potential, but the writing isn't smooth. There are wording errors, and the dialogue needs work. I just couldn't finish reading this.
This took me right back to my RPG days. The battle scenes are really vivid and fast-paced and I liked the gradual introduction of various hostile, (and occasionally friendly,) fantasy creatures. The ending felt a bit sudden but I’m hoping that it’s because there is more to come...
Mistakes: The only mistake I found was in the dwarves religion. Why would they worship Odin as the father of the gods, when humans, Vikings, didn’t do so until they needed a god that would allow them to raid others and elevated Odin, the god of liars, thieves, and murders to the head of the pantheon.
Plot: Worlds collide and magic is reborn as creatures of myth and legend walk the earth again and humans are forced to fight for survival. They aren’t alone as dwarves come to their aid.
Characters: There are a bunch, and none seem to be the one that a story normally focuses around.
