What's a witch to do when the werewolf council sentences the love of her life to a fate that may be worse than death?
She follows him into hell, risks her life to save him, and then she brings him home.
That's Abby Cameron's plan, anyway.
With the assistance of her demon half-sister, Jewel, a tempestuous broomstick named Camilla, and a powerful obedient wand, Abby and her beloved hounds dare to enter a dark, mysterious place from which they may never return.
Confident she will conquer whatever is waiting, Abby soon discovers she has likely overestimated her power--and underestimated the evils that lie within the shadows of Waifwater Woods...
Laken was first published in 2008. After a few exciting years with her publishers, she struck out on her own to write the now complete Rune Alexander series, and never looked back.
She shares her Ohio home with three spoiled dogs, two fish, and a tenacious African Violet. She drinks too much coffee and continues burning up the keys of her trusty laptop, getting the stories out of her head and into her readers' hands.
I absolutely love anything Laken Cane so it should be no surprise that Unpredictable was amazing! I love the story and each of the characters. Where can you go wrong with a hot werewolf alpha and a powerful witch...ok ok, maybe with a demon, but hey it makes for one hell of a story :-). Lovers of paranormal romance have to check this newest series out!
I enjoyed this story. It was a nice addition to the previous book, but like the first to me it was too short. I felt I was missing some explanations and had the feeling that there was so much out there yet to be discovered. I especially liked the explanation about the Waifwater woods and the stuff in it was really cool. It reminded me a lot of Wormwood, so maybe it has a connection. The cameo of the cowboy made me wonder if this series’ timeline coincides with the Rune Alexander series at all. There wasn’t much description given about the cowboy—meaning his torture scars and anything else identifiable besides his hat. It makes a girl wonder … is he trying to get back to Rune or is this one of his adventures he had before meeting up with Rune? The whole idea in that series of the paths between worlds and what they do to a person makes me sad—since I’d like it if some people were able to go back and forth. But, I guess it is a little like the restrictions you have when going to Narnia. Hah I liked how she expounded more on the brooms and her familiars. A nice way to describe something without sounding like the same old same old you could get from other books with similar stuff in it. So much potential for this series!
I'm growing to really like these books. Abigail's confidence blooms, as does her family. Jewel is just the cutest little sociopath ever; I just love her. Trace is most definitely a close second (tying with the pups) on my favorites list for this one. Assholes with something to offer, what can I say, I'm a sucker. Oh how I enjoyed the nod from our "cowboy", when your worlds collide (however so briefly), it's lovely!
Abigail's story is fun, she's a witch's witch. A story that's not often told anymore. With her spells, wands, and Badass broom(s) she's stands out, and she stands slightly above the other oversexualized witches.
It was like I wrote down a wish list for what I want in a follow-up novel, and it was delivered to me with a frigging sparkly bow on top!
I have been a long time fan of Laken’s with her Rune series but Abby has taken first place. Her heart and vulnerability are so genuine and you can’t help but love her. Eli isn’t in this a whole lot but when he is there, oh he will make you swoon. Jewel is the second star of this book and I loved the way she and Abby were together.
This was yet another fantastic read from the lovely Laken Cane. Your books always amaze me. The second book in the Waifwater series was just as good as the first and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who loves awesome paranormal reads! I'm interested to see what happens next in book 3. I'm pretty sure Trace will make another appearance but I'm interested to know what else will happen. And will we see that mysterious cowboy again? Only time will tell. Keep up the wonderful work Laken! I give this 5 stars because they won't let me do 10😉
Ok where is the next book. I really do like this series . It has a great story line .I love wolf shifter these are pretty coo I like witches these aunt and but a daemon witch sis wow love her ... I do hope jewel gets her own book 😘😘😘 I do recommend these books read them in order and say it with me Hurry book 3
Wonderful wonderful book. I wish I could write a review worthy of this book and all the other series of Laken Cane. But I am horrible at writing so I am so thankful for authors like Laken Cane who give me such awesome stories and this is one of the best. Please write more stories about the Witch.
Laken has done it again! Wow is all I can say. I couldn’t even put the book down. Twists and turns through out the whole book, keeping you on your toes and turning page after page!! I could give this book st 15 out of 10 if I could!! Wow just wow!!
Great book from page 1 now I have to read book 1 lol very exciting keeps you wanting to read more type of book you can't put down I'll have to read your other series with the cowboy so I know how he ties into it all great writing Laken
Loved every minute and each and every character! Human, shifter, witch, familiar and demon are all part of the crazy ride. You will fall in love with all of them and many you will hate as well.
While the first book was better, both are more fantasy-oriented than I typically enjoy. The plot featuring the metaphysical woods and magic battle with Acadia were not particularly interesting or engaging.
Loved this series, strong Female MC and lots of action. Highly recommend reading this series. Would have liked the male MC to have been portrayed as a stronger character
I really loved this book. Mainly for the nice little “Easter egg” we fan get. Laken Cane never disappoints! Abby toughens up in the book, and I was glad to see it. She’s coming into her own and really kicks ass in this one. I’m also quite fond of Jewel. As always, I’m looking forward to wherever Laken takes us next!
A great follow-up to the first. The book ends where the storyline can basically be considered wrapped up but I definitely would be all over a third book if one comes out. Love the characters and world building.
Hold my broom, I just finished Unpredictable by Laken Cane and can’t stop loving it! Cursed witch Abby is used to leading a dark and solitary life. Once you let people into your fold, be it a ghost or the sexy local alpha, life becomes more complicated. Venturing into Waifwater Woods to help the ones she loves can provide solutions and more problems for Abby.
I just loved Unpredictable. In true Laken Cane fashion, the action is a speedy trip on a broomstick and the touches of romance are enough to turn a frog into a prince. With a cauldron of character, this novel speaks volumes. I don’t know if the Waifwater saga is continuing, but I hope it does - these are great characters that I hope to read more about!
